Agreed with Rimo. That would probably make it easier on both you and the rippers.

cubed Dec 4, 2006 07:17 PM

Next is the Request page. How should it be listed ? How should it work in general ? I would want to make it automatic as much as possible. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Grawl Dec 4, 2006 07:32 PM

Anyone who feels like adding all my rips? :p

cubed Dec 5, 2006 03:56 PM

I will need some of you to start adding new rips, edit the infos, add tracklist, etc. I tested it myself, I found one display error of the RIPPERS page in firefox (nothing in IE and Opera though), but that's all that has to be done (oh plus the Request page that I haven't done too..), so if anybody is interested, PM me.

There should be two fields: Name of the game and System. Name of the game should be a text field while System...well, I think a drop down box would work best in this case. If it's for Multiple Platforms, put down Multi-Platform as an option. :D

The Rippers' Stash is great.. easy and fast to add rips, and there's an edit feature (iirc cubed's world lacked it?). Great job! :)

cubed Dec 5, 2006 07:50 PM

Thanks !!

I added a basic formatting function for the "any other useful infos" field. Like a <pre> tag, but homemade. Kind of....

neothe0ne Dec 5, 2006 07:52 PM

I noticed that just in the past few minutes, you added line breaks into the rip information, which was great.. and also killed word wrap. Just wanted to make sure you were aware.

cubed Dec 5, 2006 10:57 PM

bleh... Yeah I just noticed... I'll try to fix this.....

EDIT: now it adds an extra carriage return. great..

EDIT²: works fine now.... the other infos on grawl's rips aren't pleased for the eyes the way it is formatted because of the small width reserved for that column.... Should I make it pop-up on click ?

EDIT³: What? am I the only one here ? I feel lonely and I answered myself. I made a pop-up window for the other infos. Things are getting great. The website is still filling!! Now the request page.....

Double Post:
Fuck the edit.....

I really want to implement link to dedicated FTPs that are willing to host the rips. Your FTP info (not sure yet how it's gonna work) will be given on every gamerip page. It will show if your FTP is online or not and if you have that same rip. All I'm asking the ones that are willing to do it, is to create a folder in your FTP root called, let's say "The Rippers' Stash". All subfolders should ideally named like they are called in the database. Because I'm not a PHP senior programmer, the heck I know about dynamic search for such task if you change the location and the names.

Or maybe I simply put your FTP info on the pages, so the user will have to check himself to see if you have it or no. Either way, I need an answer.

Double Post:
Request page now online. SuperSonic, I'm gonna use your thread to fill the request page ;)

Kaleb.G Dec 6, 2006 05:04 AM

The site is looking great so far. I'll try to get around to helping out with it soon.

P.S. You may want to actually hyperlink your signature to the site.

cubed Dec 6, 2006 10:07 AM

I don't want to show it to everybody just now as I'm still working on it. Maybe tonight everything's gonna be fine.

Bloggs Dec 6, 2006 10:11 AM

If you need any help with the site Cubed, I'd be happy to help.

cubed Dec 6, 2006 10:25 AM

ok thanks darko :) right now it's only small features I want to try if they work, so it's gonna be fine.

@ kaleb: would a tracker on your server be a good idea for the rips ?

That's fine...lemme know when the page launches to the public because I plan to close the thread once it does, and put one final post in there linking it to your page saying "This is where all requests go now." or something like that. :D

Edit: Also, I meant to ask could you please add a ripper by the name of So_Outrageous? I haven't seen the guy in a long time but I have at least one of his rips. I dunno if he's under a new name or not.

cubed Dec 6, 2006 04:48 PM

Oh yeah Kureisama/CitizenSolo old name, heh ?

I should add Dogs on Acid as well. thanks.

That's fine by me. As long as I don't have to set it up (because I don't have a clue how).

cubed Dec 6, 2006 11:15 PM

lol and doh at the same time... I checked the one that gamemp3s.net is using and I'm totally lost how it is supposed to work. I hope someone experimented will read this and offer his help =\ for the moment FTP can work.

Kaleb.G Dec 7, 2006 02:02 PM

cubed, is there anyway I can make a gamerip listing link to an HTTP download? I have my rips hosted for download via HTTP.

cubed Dec 7, 2006 05:12 PM

direct download from the tracklist (click on the track individually to download) or simply a field with the url of the root where the rip is located ?

Either is fine, but the first one would be a lot cooler, IMHO.

Drakken Dec 9, 2006 05:25 PM

Would this be a way to check if a game I might want to rip has been ripped already? I'm working on a rip of Skate or Die - Bad 'N Rad (Game Boy) right now. I don't think anyone else has ripped it, but I'd like to be sure.

Also, I did a rip of Rhythm Tengoku (GBA) awhile back. I can add the relevant info if you pm me the site address.

cubed Dec 9, 2006 11:35 PM

If we fill it as much as we can, of course it's gonna be the reference for gamerips that have been done! Before showing it to the public, I want to keep it "secret" so only us can fill the database. As I don't want to have a lot or problems with duplicates. So I'm still waiting for more request to access it =\ I'm gonna send you the link.

SuperSonic Dec 10, 2006 12:02 AM

Sorry to bother you again cubed, but I'm gonna need you to add XBoxster to the list. He did a rip of Mission Impossible 64. :P

cubed Dec 10, 2006 12:26 AM

XBoxster or xboxster ? :P (I'm a little picky on lowercase and uppercase, like I prefer to be called "cubed" than "Cubed" for example :p)

EDIT: Xboxster seems to be the right one.

cubed Dec 11, 2006 09:24 PM

We now need to discuss about upcoming gamerips. What do you think ? Should we have one to track down what is currently being ripped (to avoid useless duplicates or useless requests) ? Post your comments on the subject.

PS: We can still talk about FTP mirrors too, you know.... 0 concrete answer so far.
