Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed about that as well. Why blow the extra money only to not have the PROMISED EXTRAS that were why you chose the CE to begin with.

Dakhathsk Nov 12, 2007 12:34 AM

All right I've checked Buy.com, EBgames.com and neither of them have any sort of ordering information about the PC version of this game. What gives? Is it not coming out at the same time as the 360 and PS3 versions? I've been unable to find any information about this

Slayer X Nov 12, 2007 12:44 AM

The PC release is scheduled for early 2008

Sexninja Nov 12, 2007 12:37 PM

I have got the game.
PAL version.

Any questions?

Will post impressions today.

OmagnusPrime Nov 12, 2007 12:47 PM

No questions, just a request: don't post spoilers. If you must post something potentially spoiler-like, use the spoiler tags please. That is all.

Slayer X Nov 12, 2007 12:57 PM

I second SCHNEE-2's post. Especially since I hear that the BIG secret about the game is revealed right when you start the game pratically. Hence why I'm even weary of checking out reviews before I get the game myself.

Strife Nov 12, 2007 05:32 PM

if it's at the beginning, chances are it's not gonna be a "OH SHIT" type of secret. If you've seen any of the jade raymond gameplay videos, it's not really that big of a secret....

At the end of one of them during a demo at e3, the demo ends then she says, like it's practiced, "Oops, you weren't suppost to see that..." then smiles and leaves...

I'm still looking forward to playing it though. :)

Here my impressions

Strife Nov 12, 2007 11:40 PM

Very intresting. I'm still looking forward to playing the game. I am also going to be playing the 360 version so hopefully the graphic problems you've been having won't be a problem.

Gametrailers is gonna have their review of the game up at midnight PST, so that means 3 AM EST... :\

Forsety Nov 13, 2007 12:27 AM

Quick question; how do you know you can beat it in 12 hours if you've only killed 3 targets? I smell a lie. It is stinky.

Slayer X Nov 13, 2007 01:39 AM

Because there are clocks posted by other reviewers (ie. OXM). The game clocks an average of 20hrs for the straight storyline, and around 40hrs for main + side missions.

Sexninja Nov 13, 2007 03:17 AM

Because i have killed 3 targets in 6hrs.
Minus 1 hr of painstaking travelling by horse.
If you will count horse travelling then for some it could be more than 12hrs.
It was my guess, one of my friend has reached the 8th target , already, he got the game on 11th.

My speculation of time is based on 9 targets, i wonder if there are more.

Long or not, when its rinse and repeat action , its useless to count time. Moreover its impressions not review.
And i m bored to continue which happens rarely and i waited for this game for years.

Edit:
gametrailer review is up, form comments , its 9.1.
Atleast some unbiased review.
Also you can hear , game lasts for 12 to 15 hr depending upon your skill level.
See my guess is right.

Slayer X Nov 13, 2007 03:31 AM

Well comparing Assassin's Creed to Halo 3 and CoD4 is like trying to compare beauty queens to weightlifters. They're not the same, and therefore shouldn't be gtouped together.

However a 9.1 is nothing to scoff at. And the point of the game is to be creative. If you think it's a "rinse and repeat action" then perhaps you need to experiment more? I don't know for I haven't played it yet, but I'm sure there's more to the game then what you're aware of if that's how you feel.

Forsety Nov 13, 2007 04:44 AM

I'd like to believe so as well. No place has reviewed it poorly yet, a 9.1 seems quite high to me. Maybe people hyped it up too much for their own good -- All I expect this game to be is a solid enjoyable game, not the second coming of Christ.

Edit: Spoke a little soon, 1up did rate it a 7.2 apparently; but it's just one site and a 7 is still a implication that the game could be good anyway. Also to note; I've never really trusted 1ups reviews in the first place (even less so than gamespot and ign) but regardless, I wanted to edit and mention it so as not to get called out on the "no place has reviewed it poorly..." remark.

Strife Nov 13, 2007 07:03 AM

I'm gonna rent it, play the hell out of it, then prepare myself for mass effect. I'm sure I will enjoy it, and here's hoping that when the next installment comes out, they fix all the problems that a game this large is going to be prone to, and the next one is amazing.

Sexninja Nov 13, 2007 08:43 AM

I would like to see how much you will get creative enough to try many things in game.
And when you do , please list them.I would love to try them(pun intended).

Gt review is 9.1 coz they gave 9.2 to story , rest of thier score is in 8.

My final score would be too 7.5.

And when i was comparing it to halo, ME or CoD4 i meant AC is no GOTY stuff.
And its not creative its bastardizaion of hitman and oblivion.
The twist in story is also corny, however story of altair arc is good.

What? There's no pun there. (Lack of pun intended).

One thing I don't understand, not necessarily from this forum, is people bitching about the playtime? 12 to 20 (to 40?) hours is plenty, especially if they're good. I don't want games to be dragged out for an eternity, I certainly don't want stories or gameplay artificially extended (that always leads to poor game design and boring sections).

I'm really looking forward to this game, can't wait for my copy to turn up at the weekend. Just got to get on and finish CoD4's single player.

Slayer X Nov 13, 2007 10:29 AM

Well it's longer then a lot of games these days.

Halo 3 (4hrs)
CoD4 (5hrs)
Gears (8hrs)
Heavenly Sword (7hrs)
etc...

Also AC could still end up as game of the year. However I think that games like Mass Effect, SMG, CoD4 are all more likely to take GOTY over Halo 3 AND AC.

Sexninja Nov 13, 2007 02:28 PM

Lol i am so happy that hype trend didnt follow for this game.
My points proven by major sites.

7.0

Regardless, turning Altaïr into a medieval Spider-Man in order to reach high points is one of the best parts about the game.

Or at least until you get sick of it -- which will likely happen very quickly. The fault of Creed's game structure isn't what you do -- gathering intel and conducting hits is actually pretty sweet. The repetition of these actions, however, is severely bitter. I kept waiting for a changeup of the objectives, and, well, that never happened. From the first hit to the last, you go through the same motions over and over and over...find the viewpoints, do the investigation missions, and take out the final target. It got to the point where I only did the minimum amount of investigation tasks needed to perform each kill. To make things worse, despite Ubisoft's faithfulness to history, the three cities of Acre, Damascus, and Jerusalem are practically the same. Do they have different people populating them? Yes. Do they have different buildings? Yep. Do they have different color tints to remind you that you're actually in a different environment? Uh-huh. But do they actually play any differently? Not at all.

Whoah, Whoah Whoah. Hold the fuck on. You're chiding Sexninja for his opinion on how this game is too short then you proceed to list a bunch of bullshit?

Heavenly sword longer then Halo 3? This is up there with some of the absurd shit you've said in the past. Heavenly sword takes no more then 4 hours on a straight run through ( Only fight that takes time is Whiptail and maybe bohan ). Halo 3 on a Single runthrough doing Meta-game ( aka speed run ) takes 7-8 hours and taking you time it can take upwards to 9-10 hours.

If you're going to spew shit outta your ass, can you please do it somewhere else?

Gechmir Nov 13, 2007 03:55 PM

Well, I figured a lot of the hits to be repetitive, but isn't it akin to Hitman, wherein there are subtle differences on how to approach each one?

Still, I rented it via Gamefly. I'm not buying any PS3 game unless it's a Front Mission or Metal Gear Solid =U Or something unusually awesome~ I got my 60gb PS3 in the mail today and will try it out on Friday after my move is done. Hopefully Assassin's Creed will have arrived by then~

Megalith Nov 13, 2007 05:56 PM

Wow, this game is getting terrible scores.

No wonder all they did was pimp that producer chick instead of the actual game.

Assassin's Crap.

Slayer X Nov 13, 2007 06:38 PM

@Iwata
You missed the point, and even with your revised clock of 7-8 hours (which I still beat it in less) my point still remains that the game is short in comparison to AC which is all I was trying to say. I don't really care about the FPS genre much outside of a few select games therefore my need for accuracy when commenting the Halo 3 clock most certainly was not at a high. As for HS, I dove right into the hardest difficulty, extending the clock perhaps?

But on topic, I don't really see how people can consider a 7 bad. It just means that perhaps the reviewer isn't going to play it again any time soon. Doesn't mean that it's not a good game. Also I tend to trust reviews with more grounded averages then something that's got ratings all flying off the radar, for thoes are usually the ones that are rated by their fanboyistic appeal then the actual content(based off my experiance, I simply dispise reviews so forgive me if my view is a bit extreme). i.e. BioShock, while I enjoyed the game I found it's slew of 9s and 10s to be very overrated especially since it just copied what the series did back in SystemShock 2, just not as well. In conclusion for thoes interestede in AC GET IT, for even a rating of 7 doesn't make it bad and perhaps you'll come to a totally different conclusion. Ratings obviously don't mean everything for there are a lot of games with much lower scores that sell sometimes 4x that of a game perhaps rated an 8 on average. And the only way for them to take a second shot at AC, there has to be a show of interest (though I'm sure sales will still be high).

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Nov 13, 2007 06:40 PM

I'd like to see a Halo 3 speedrun in that time frame from you, Slayer. It'd be pretty fucking impressive.

Slayer X Nov 13, 2007 06:47 PM

Dude I was playing it on normal. Also I didn't even care to really clock it because I just wanted to get it over with, I really didn't like it. Mostly because your melee is more powerful then your guns so what's the point? Brute = clip & a half of assault rifle rounds or 2 melees, hmmm... wonder which one I'm gonna do?

Therefore my clock was only based on what the game felt like. I'm sure not affraid to admitt that I was wrong, because I really don't care.

Like I said in my last post there it was more to make a point then an argument. Forget about it. It's a battle I have zero desire to argue about.
