Well, I can now answer my own question about the manga. I downloaded an archive with all 22 volumes, and it seems like it indeed has furigana for practically every kanji. Unfortunately, I grossly overestimated my abilities and I find it's taking me forever to understand even with the furigana and a bunch of web dictionaries. All those で, に, して, んだろう and ってs will be my ruin. ;_;
|
I WANT NOW! I want it so badly...;_;
How much of this can you understand? I'll probably be able to pick up like 5% of the text, but I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of technical jumbo-mumbo all in katakana. |
I'm rather interested myself in knowing where you downloaded all that. I wouldn't mind just having the whole thing on my computer as a keepsake of sorts, even if I wouldn't understand any of it for now.
|
Again, if any fansubbers who have good knowledge of written Japanese would scantilate the manga, that'd be absolute awesomemess.
|
Regarding the music, anyone know of a good website with a discography of the different CDs released? Trying to find some CD info and track listings, but haven't found much if anything... :(

Qwarky, does your copies of Patlabor vol. 1-6 have the track listings? If so, I'll offer you an upgrade of them in exchange for said info. :D |

I asked BigBlah for any good places, but he said there really aren't any. [12:28:14] <Gigablah> there's no really good place [12:28:21] <Gigablah> most of the ones available suck [12:28:43] <Gigablah> the only reliable one is Neko-han-ten [12:28:48] <Gigablah> which doesn't update too often [12:29:12] <Gigablah> I created ongawiki for this purpose, but I haven't had time to work on it [12:33:09] <Q-chan> well if they have older albums, that's fine [12:37:11] <Q-chan> bah, no Patlabor albums [12:37:28] <Q-chan> no Mobile Police Patlabor or Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor either for that matter [12:38:39] <Q-chan> they only have Believe Yourself Again in a separate section [12:44:52] <Gigablah> guess i'll work on adding patlabor albums to ongawiki next [12:45:37] <Q-chan> yes plz So that's good news at least ;_; One site that blah said is fairly comprehensive, would be here, which I've linked before. The trouble is of course it's all in Japanese, but at least you have a list of albums with all the codes and such there to help you look elsewhere from there on. |
Thanks! The good news, I have narrowed it down a little, found info for all but the first three volumes. Will keep my eyes open regardless...
Though, the best I have come up with is the following: http://www.hitokiri.com/archives/Patlabor/patcd.html http://www6.ocn.ne.jp/~jimbe/collection/cdrack2.html BTW, I found a mirror of AniDisc while Googling for info tonight: http://members.fortunecity.com/anidisc/ I guess someone might want to save the site locally in case it goes offline completely. Anyone know what happened to the Yet Another Anime CD site though? It used to be my one stop source for practically everything but the newer releases. Bummer! :( Oh well, here's hoping some enterprising individual decides to make an Anime site that mirrors Chudah's Corner... :D |
I actually translated the tracknames for all six volumes of the Patlabor image soundtracks a while ago during a tagging run. I'll be adding them to OngaWiki very soon.
|
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll be doing quite a few Patlabor rips in lossless soon. Volume 1-6, the Complete Vocal Collection and at least the second Movie OST. Not sure about the third, might or might not have it ripped already...
Anyway, let me know if you guys want an upgrade as such, or in a higher bitrate MP3. :) |
Damn, actually this would REALLY help me out since I jumbled all my TV OSTs Movie tracks into one big conglomerate. Stupidest idea ever.
|
Should be ripping them sometime this week... :)
BTW, that's a nice site you have there Bigblah. Just registered and will try to help out if and when I can. I have the reissue of Black Magic M-66 if you wanted any info on that album. Oh well, there's several titles I wouldn't mind seeing added. Will check the site often most likely! Just what I needed! ;) |
Qwarky: I downloaded the manga from a P2P network called Share, the archive is about 1 GB. If you don't want to bother with it yourself I could probably upload it somewhere, although I'm going away for a week or so tomorrow, so it would have to wait.
|
It's all in kana/kanji right? Even so, I'd love to have a copy just for the art and stuff (more av/sigs coming liek wut).

Definitely in no rush, so long as you're not deleting it any time soon =P Oh and anything you might like in exchange, let me know. Also had to go back to my Noa set, no matter how awesome Uniracers is. This just feels so comfy, just like my 8-bit ICO and Reki sets. |
To tell you the truth Q, I was somewhat sadden by the sudden change to uniracers (but I know uni is pretty awesome too), and thought you deserted the Patlabor love. Not that I'm trying to coerce members into particular av/sigs.
Come April 20th I'm changing back to mina-san for a couple days. You'll see why. ^ ^ |
Eh, well I switched to Uniracers because of the occasion and it was my suggestion to do a double-set with Juan to begin with (because of the occasion).
On the remastered movie side of things, I've yet to hear back from my co-conspirators on whether it's a go yet, but I noticed the film is eligible for amazon.com's special "Super Saver Shipping" inside the US, which means I'd be getting it without having to pay for shipping fees at all. I assume there'll still be a handling fee, but it's still money saved~ |
Yup Q. It's well...pretty much unheard of to get the EXACT time.
:computer crashes: 12 days or so for the reissue of Patlabor 1? I wonder if any retail stores locally will carry it. |
Guess I am glad that I had only previously purchased the films on VHS... ;)
|
I own a subbed VHS of the first film, and both films on DVD, and I've come this close to twice buying a newer double pack release (with some extra documentary that was so tempting), but have still resisted.
A proper remastered version I won't mind getting though. Especially one with such lovely extras. |
I have the subbed VHS of the OVA. I really should get a DVD copy of it, since the VHS is showing it's age in sound and quality, however I really only like the 1st, 5th and 6th episodes. I wasn't much of a fan of the "Tragedy of L" nor the "450 million year old mystery" episodes.
Picking it up locally is a rip off. OMG! I <3 internet shopping. |
I was informed my aunt's friend would be returning from the states a bit later, so I'd be getting my hands on the movie pretty late into May, but at least they all seem ok with the plan, so I can place my pre-order soon.
Though I just realized Amazon.com won't probably accept payment by Visa Electron, so I'll probably need to ask to borrow my aunt's Visa again. Complications, complications, but I don't mind waiting for a few weeks if it saves me a good 30 bucks or so. |
Well I'd recommend waiting, since there's always the chance that it might be lost in the mail, a total rip off since you've paid for the postage + item. If your aunt's friend has it, I'm guess he'd be a bit more reliable than the postal service. Plus both of us have seen it numerous times already, albeit with lower quality on the Manga releases.
|
Well, while GFF was down, I made some ordering of my own~
http://myy.helia.fi/~a0400729/Pics/Pat01.jpg Delivery estimate to ME: somewhere around May 18th ;_; |
All the best to your shipment. I'm going to sit on it for a bit before I order, plus I'll just get the regular edition.
|
Amazon uploaded new pics.
