My code's changed. It's 4854 3643 9530 now.

DarkMageOzzie May 21, 2008 04:58 PM

Ok, I've got a problem. I got the wifi adapter but it won't install. It gets near the installation and tells me to connect the adapter, even though it's already connected(It told me to put it in earlier). I read that this thing has issues with firewalls. Does that include Windows Firewall? If so I'm screwed because Windows Firewall is part of Service Pack 2, so I can't really get rid of it.

Kairyu May 21, 2008 06:05 PM

First, I need some information. What brand of wifi usb adapter did you get, exactly? And what OS are you using? WinXP x32 or x64? From what I gather the adapter will not work with 64bit OSes.

A few things you can also try:
- Unplug the adapter, reboot and start the installation over. Do not plug in the adapter until told to do so.
- If you feel it is a firewall issue you can disable it (go to Control Panel > Firewall) and see if your installation completes that way. If you have more than one active, well, you shouldn't running more than one anyway. So turn them off. As that causes all sorts of conflicts.
- No idea if you're using a router but you may need to switch your home network address to something other than 192.168.1.0 (your adapter uses this, apparently.) If you have no idea what I'm talking about just PM me and I'll try to walk you through that.

Sousuke May 21, 2008 06:48 PM

I think I'm ready.

Anyone wanna go for the first battle? [Also, the way you described it, Kai, was that we sort of do a 'best of three' kind of deal... Is that right?]

Kairyu May 21, 2008 06:58 PM

No!
I did mean first to three wins. Like Chaotic's SSBB tournament. So it is possible to have as many as 5 battles per person. But I get the feeling it won't be like that with a lot of players. Especially me :(

Sousuke May 21, 2008 07:02 PM

Oh, I see. I thought we were to battle every other person in the tournament. Only having to win three times opens a whole new window of strategy, to be honest. :o

Josiah May 21, 2008 07:09 PM

Eh, I think he means we battle every other person in the tourney, and for each of those fights it's first to three wins. ..Or did I read that wrong?

Kairyu May 21, 2008 07:13 PM

@Sousuke - *cough* Again, No :tpg:

It's more lengthy than that. You do have to meet every participant once. You are to battle against each of them at least three times, ie first to three wins (up to five if you're having crazy close matches.) Hence the point system and why you, the player, are required to keep track of your progress. Because that's a lot of info to track by myself.

Things I would specifically like to know:
- Wins
- Losses
- Draws
- Total number of Pokemon you KO'ed
- Total number of Pokemon you lost
- Additional notes (A summary, I suppose. But that isn't required.)

I hope I'm not confusing anyone :(
If I am, ask!

Sousuke May 21, 2008 07:33 PM

Whoops, I meant to say 'best of five' for each player.

Anyway~

Sousuke vs Identity Crisis - Round One

Simply put... Sousuke got slaughtered. :eagletear: Lost all six Pokemon, unable to take down ANY of his opponents... [We opted to finish the other battles later, as Identity Crisis is off somewhere.]

I'll repost this with the full battle log when we finish the match, too. I just wanted to put my loss out there. xD

DarkMageOzzie May 22, 2008 05:25 PM

My friend code is up on the first page now. Thanks to Kairyu I'm all set up. I just need alittle more time to level Pokemon.

Sousuke May 24, 2008 12:39 PM

Well, here's the first full report.

Sousuke vs. Identity Crisis:
Round 1

Simply put... Sousuke got slaughtered. Lost all six Pokemon, unable to take down ANY of his opponents... [We opted to finish the other battles later, as Identity Crisis is off somewhere.]

Round 2

NO MORE DRATINI. D: This battle was a 3v3, bringing more strategy to the table. However, Sousuke still got completely shattered by the Identity. This time, Sousuke managed to take down ONE opponent. Then he did something incredibly stupid, and used Dig against a Pokemon that was able to use Earthquake... Damn.

Round 3

Another 3v3 battle. The worst of the three. And shortest. Identity's first Pokemon managed to OHKO Sousuke's first TWO, and took down his third in two hits. How he managed to take down a beast with over 400HP in one hit is beyond me. Honestly.

Final Count:
Sousuke: Lost 12 Pokemon, defeated 1.
Identity: Lost 1 Pokemon, defeating 12.

Josiah May 24, 2008 03:48 PM

A little status update from me: aside from saving up for some TMs, I've got four Pokemon ready. I could probably have a full team ready by the end of the weekend, but I've got a bit of a busy start of the coming week. (This week's been a bit busy too.) I'm pretty sure I'll be ready to duke it out by the middle of next week or so.

Chaotic May 24, 2008 03:59 PM

As well as an update for me, still need to evolve half my team, as well get good movesets.

I should be ready next week too.

Kairyu May 24, 2008 04:46 PM

Ah ok *bunch of slackers*

Well my team will be ready by tomorrow, I hope. I just need to level up two pokes to get moves, that will destroy the competition :tpg:.
I'm looking at you, Identity Crisis!

DarkMageOzzie May 24, 2008 05:18 PM

I'll hopefully be ready after the weekend is over. I have today and Sunday off. It's just a matter of grinding those levels out. Oh yeah and Kairyu catch me on AIM if you got a chance I want to ask you something.

Black Mage May 24, 2008 05:19 PM

Hopping on the next week bandwagon here.

I appealed to some of my co-workers as I know from previous battles they had some nice IV Pokemon I could utilize as parents for this, but they all kind of let me down for this weekend. Should be in touch with them early next week, though I've begun to work on spares in the event they continue to fall through on me.

So yeah, early next week I should be ready.

Kairyu May 26, 2008 03:45 AM

Kairyu vs Identity Crisis

Oh shit, I did my first round against Icy's dragon gym. And my god it was close, too close. The deciding factor was few HP from one of Icy's pokemon ._.

Report:
I LOST! 3 - 2! But I gave him a huge run for his money.
1. First battle was a 6v6, we traded hits on the first two pokemon but my combination of moves + perfect prediction gave me the advantage. So, I easily won there with 4 pokemon to spare.

2. Second match. It got much closer here. Also add the fact we both agreed to make it a 3v3 to help make things move faster. Not sure how I got the win here but I'm pretty sure I ended up tanking him to death =p. Well I managed to survive with one pokemon, good for me!

3. And this is where my luck ended. I don't want to give anyway too many details about Icy's team but he basically raped my team with the only Dragon-type capable of piercing my defenses. A Kingdra. It wasn't pretty when his overpowered Surf plowed through everything. I lost while Icy had 2 surviving pokemon in this 3v3 battle.

4. Similar situation, but we kept things random by switching up a few pokes. It didn't help me one bit as I completely didn't expect so much power from that one dragon of his. I lost while Icy had 2 pokemon leftover in that 3v3.

5. The tie breaker. I'm surprised he managed to survive my final attack here which could've given me a close victory. But I underestimated his defenses and paid for it in HP. Both down to our last pokemon, I flailed out one final Ice Shard. But his last dragon with full HP just ate like it was shave ice. One flamethrower later it was over. Icy wins again here with 1 surviving pokemon. Very good game though!
Final Count:
Kairyu: Lost 13 Pokemon, defeating 13.
Identity Crisis: Lost 13 Pokemon, defeating 13.
Played one 6v6 and four 3v3 matches.

lawl, at least I tied it up in death count!

Sousuke May 26, 2008 07:05 AM

Kai! :3:

You up to battling FIGHT type today?

radcliff13 May 26, 2008 02:09 PM

I should be ready by thursday. My wireless internet is getting fixed that day, so I'll be able to battle by thursday night. Sorry for such a long delay, if I can find a wireless internet that isn't firewalled I'll let you guys know.

Sure, why not :333:

If you have an IM contact that'd be handy in case we have trouble connecting. You can find my IM info in my profile.

Sousuke May 26, 2008 07:26 PM

Gotcha on AIM. If you're okay for a go, just let me get my team ready. :D

[edit] Ouch. Will post a report as soon as I can make sense of what just happened. xD

Sousuke vs Kairyu - 3v3:

Round 1

I killed something! Well, made it 'faint'. Bah. Sadly, that's all that's good from the Fight team. Some more damage was given, but even without the ability for the opposing team to recover, I was taken down with ease. At least it seemed easy on Kairyu's part. xD

Round 2

Revenge! :3 This match started off a lot better. I actually brought in some Pokemon that MIGHT have had a chance. I was able to take down the Pokemon that killed off my team in Round 1, so I thought I would be able to continue that streak... sadly, no. After taking down his Pokemon of DOOM, he managed to kill off my team with someone else. Again.

Round 3

Ownage. Again. D: Kairyu gets revenge this time! I managed to defeat his first Pokemon, after losing one of my own. After that, it all went downhill again. The Pokemon of DOOM returned and basically just ATE the rest of my team. XD

Sousuke: Lost 9, defeated 3.
Kairyu: Lost 3, defeated 9.

In the end, I lost 3 - 0, once again. Hopefully I'll have better luck against some other trainers. ;_;

Kairyu May 26, 2008 08:40 PM

Apologies for eating you alive back there. But that's how the ground types roll :tpg:.

Hopefully you will have better luck against the other types!

Josiah May 27, 2008 03:16 PM

I'm still saving up for some TMs, but otherwise my team is ready, with the three alternates in the works! However, I'm going to be busy tonight and tomorrow, but Thursday should work for anyone wanting to have a go.

Friend Code: 3007 8067 3064

Kairyu May 27, 2008 04:25 PM

Alright, updated the first post =D

All we're missing now is radcliff's FC but he said he should have one by the time you're ready, Josiah. Also, I haven't heard from Xardion in awhile nor has he responded to my PM. Anyone know if he's still available to play?

Josiah May 29, 2008 11:46 AM

Okay! If anyone wants to battle me, I should be available from mid-afternoon on today (I'm on Eastern Standard Time). I could battle tomorrow but it'd have to be by mid-late afternoon. Saturday's pretty much the same deal as Friday for me.
