Here's a new one for you to ponder overnight. :) Good luck!

Hmm, There are mountains in the distance. Run down buildings. A 2nd world nation probably. Buildings are of a western design. but the mountains suggest south american. Perhaps somewhere in chile. or a little north. Those look like spanish mountains anyhow, so I'm gonna guess Yalcoc Guatemala

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Aug 19, 2007 01:23 AM

The mountains and general condition of things make me think something in the Andes. It's a complete guess, but hey, why not. La Paz.

Guru Aug 19, 2007 01:41 AM

I'm almost certain that's La Paz. Good job, Capo~

Franky Mikey Aug 19, 2007 02:00 AM

You're all dead wrong!

You're looking on the wrong continent, if it helps any...

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Aug 19, 2007 02:03 AM

You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly, sir!

I really have no idea if it's not South America, though. Maybe northern Africa or Southern Europe? Who knows.

Smelnick Aug 19, 2007 02:18 AM

Something around the Himalayans then, Nepal perhaps?

It's hilarious how your guesses and the supposed logic behind them have been blatantly pulled out of your ass.

It's even more hilarious how close this one was.

Lhasa, Tibet.

I'm curious how you know that so easily. It's not like there are any giveaways in the picture, aside from mountains. There aren't any buddhist pagodas or distinguishable buildings (since there's really only one distinguishable building in Lhasa, being the palace on top of the mountain). So what was your clue?

Franky Mikey Aug 19, 2007 02:42 AM

Lhassa is correct! "Lhassa, China" would be slightly more politically accurate, though...

This picture show the place where the other one was taken from. With an obvious giveaway. :)

My clue was a single line from an IM, and a random guess that resulted from it. Combining the two in a search produced this lovely vista.

Speaking of lovely, here's this:

Google search on "Fairweather" turns up a Canadian location, although I admit that's a pretty stupid way to narrow it down :p

I'm just gonna blurt out a random Canadian port city. I choose Winnipeg!

Lord Styphon Aug 19, 2007 05:16 AM

Winnipeg is neither this city nor a port.

Mersenne Aug 19, 2007 05:40 AM

Isn't that Cape Town, South Africa?

That is Cape Town, South Africa.

Smelnick Aug 19, 2007 06:02 AM

Darn, in the time it took me to type that and search, someone guessed it.

Mersenne Aug 19, 2007 07:12 AM

Okay, guess the city:

gulahi Aug 19, 2007 07:25 AM

My guess - Dubai

Mersenne Aug 19, 2007 08:14 AM

sadly no.

Zergrinch Aug 19, 2007 09:37 AM

Man, that building looks so distinctive it should have been a giveaway, but I am drawing blanks.

:(

Dullenplain Aug 19, 2007 10:16 AM

It should be distinctive, that is the opera house of Valencia, Spain, built by Santiago Calatrava.

Since, I'm sure I'm correct, here is the next city:

Clamjouster Aug 19, 2007 11:28 AM

I'd say it is mexico DF, it certainly looks like a city in Latin America due to the layout but the smog makes me think of mexico, that angle is from a "nice part" of town I'd say.

http://www.mikepope.com/Mexico2002/i...oDF_Torre1.JPG <-- that pic explains what I mean

Mersenne Aug 19, 2007 11:38 AM

Well, Dull gets it - it's one of those landmarks you either know or don't know. A beautiful and very unusual looking set of buildings by Calatrava.

Dullenplain Aug 20, 2007 09:50 AM

Okay, I guess I'll have a clue given: Juanzen is incorrect in that it isn't Mexico City, but he has the area of interest (Latin America) correct.

Lord Styphon Aug 20, 2007 11:40 AM

Going by the non-flat terrain, the buildings that look like apartment buildings, and the location being confirmed in Latin America, I think I'm going to guess this is Bogota, Colombia.
