I have Sony Ericsson T630, a bit old model but it's perfect for me.

http://www.loxley.co.th/homepage6/PR...GES/snT630.jpg

I don't use the camera much, because it's kinda lame excuse for a cellphone camera, pics are too blurry.
It's working great, better than my last two phones, which were Nokia's. Nokia sucks. :D

ArrowHead Mar 23, 2006 02:36 AM

I have some incarnation of the Audiovox 8615. I use Virgin Mobile since I really don't use the cellphone much.

Elcee Mar 23, 2006 05:27 AM

Motorola Razor and also a prepaid T-Mobile Nokia thing that I pay no attention to.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 23, 2006 08:38 AM

Mine's a Nokia 6280.

http://img.gsmarena.com/i/pics/nokia/no6280_01.jpg

I got it about a week after it came out as 3 were offering me an upgrade and basically, I'm an utter phone slut.

It's a rather nice phone I think. 2 megapixel camera, memory card, full 3G gubbins (Although it does the internet a bit slower than my old LG did), big old screen and all sorts of other fancy stuff. Also, given that it's a Nokia, it hardly ever crashes...

Edit: Not many Americans seem to have video phones here. Has it not caught on over there yet?

silvervalkyrie Mar 23, 2006 10:19 AM

That's because 3G networks are rare here in the United States Shin; only Verizon has a complete 3G network, Sprint has launched their's but it doesn't cover their entire coverage area, and Cingular just launched their 3G network in 10 cities with plans to have over 100 major cities covered by the end of 2006.

As such video calling isn't big in the United States; mostly American phone consumers just want something for text messaging, "cool" ringtones, and maybe a camera for those odd moments they want memories.

Maybe by 2007 we'll be into video calling and what not when 3G is pretty much everywhere but right now people just want cool.

Although Cingular plans to launch the US version of the 6280, the 6282, along with the N80 this year for their 3G UMTS Network. I know my brother is looking forward to the 6282 himself; he's a big Nokia fan.

squirrelishere Mar 23, 2006 12:21 PM

Actually, it's 16 cities for Cingular. And we're expecting to do video conferencing soon. We hear they're putting some last things together. Our Samsung rep said they are making us a Video conferencing phone. But knowing Cingular, they'll just postpone it even more and we'll see it later by the end of the year or something. At least our Samsung guy lets us in on some stuff.

As for Nokia, the 6282 is already causing a ruccus at my store at least. I'd like to get my hands on one. Also, our Nokia rep said a video conferencing phone is due soon for us as well. Can't wait for that.

I just love the 3G network. Speeds are very nice and love being able to talk and browse web at the same time. Plus, Opera Mini is improving, so that will be a big help for cell phones.

Images go as following from left to right; V180, V80, V551.

When I finally indulged myself into the Motorola world of cell phones I started off with the Motorola V180, which has become my current back up phone. I've had it for over a year and it serves its purpose as a phone and nothing more.

The Motorola v80 was my chirstmas present to myself. I'm currently having problems with it freezing and not turning on but I'm going to be replacing the flex cable eventually to see if I can remedy it. This phone gets a ton of comment. It swivels which was unique until Sony's s710a came out. It's got cool ringlights that are a neat feature to have when your in a loud place such as a bowling alley during cosmic bowling and want to kill some battery life by having your lights move to the music.

I'm currently trial running my friends' Motorola v551 to see if I like it enough to buy it off of him. It's full packed and awesome. The only thing I'm missing is the swivel and ringlights of my old v80.

I can't remember the model #, but I have the Nokia where you can design your own cover designs for it and made a nice Xenogears cover for mine ^_^

I think the feature you're talking about is called "funlights" and the v551 DOES have them. You just have to enable them just like the Razr. Check out motorola.howardforums.com for more information or get up with me on AIM: keirikaze.

Here's my phone:

http://cache.vzw.com/images_b2c/phones/lg/sam_a850.jpg

It's a Samsung SCH-a850.

It's nothing earth shattering, but compared to the last phone I had (a really old kyocera that had no battery life whatesoever) this phone is awesome.

It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, the ability to play mp3s as ringtones(though it sounds kinda tinny so I decided not to), and some other stuff.

I'm not sure if Samsungs can be modded/hacked out at all, though. I'm also not sure if if it's USB compatible (in other words, if I can hook it up to my computer).

My dad ended up getting one of those new Razors. Unfortuantely, he has no idea how to do anything with it. Sigh.

SonicEchidna Mar 23, 2006 03:49 PM

Nokia 3510i

A few years old, but seeing as though I only use it occasionally, I find it's the perfect phone for me. It does what it says on the box.

Inforcer Mar 23, 2006 03:51 PM

I have the Motorola Razor V3c from Verizon. I love everything about it except one feature. They have disabled the bluetooth transfer portion of the phone. I can not send my own music or pics to it via bluetooth. I have to download them all and pay verizon for it. Lame IMO.

I have also tried their Motorola tools to try to get around it. It won't let me send pics or music (ring tones) to my phone either.

Beside that. It is a great phone.

The thing is, while it may be able to use funlights.pat; when you see them compared to the V80 it is obvious which is superior. Here's a link to a V80 review which have some pictures of the ring lights in action. Also, I'm an avid hofo member, and know cell phone seeming/modding out my ass. Thank you though.

Those lights are SEX. All other Motorola funlights fail.

Minion Mar 24, 2006 09:37 AM

My phone is a very functional piece of shit, basically. It's not pretty; it's not ugly. It has a camera. I got it with my policy for 30 bucks total. There's nothing special about it. When it rings, it makes a fucking ringing sound, not some bastardization of a classical piece.

My question is, why the hell would you spend hundreds of dollars on a phone that does basically the same thing mine does, only it's thin and with pretty lights? And people wonder why the rest of the world laughs at Western Culture.

I poked it and it made a sad sound Mar 24, 2006 09:47 AM

Mine does a lot more than yours, and I got it for cheaper.

Thats my explanation.

Also, some people like stupid, unecessary fancy shit. Its called commercialism. People like to show off their crap. I am sure you're guilty in one way or another too. I know I am.

Here's my phone, the Motorola e815.
The pics are courtesy of my friend asking me what it looked like.

Yeah really. Lucky for me the only thing I paid for my phone was the activation fee.

If I were, I wouldn't be criticizing.

Don't you chase the same girl who has been manipulating you for years? Too dense to keep on keepin' on?

My phone was free and does waaaaaay more than your does. ^_^

You're obviously looking in the wrong shops, dude.

Minion Mar 24, 2006 01:21 PM

I think mine does a lot of other stupid shit that I don't care about / have never used. Like, I can go shopping online with it or someshit.

squirrelishere Mar 24, 2006 10:21 PM

I got mine since I work for the company. I hardly use some stuff on my phone, but with the way the technology is going, they'll make you use that little thing you hardly use. I used to use a wired headset for my phone. But now they all break within a month. And since the Bluetooth earpieces have lasted me quite some time now, I use that now. $50 for an earpiece that will last me months is worth more than buying them little wired ones over and over again.

Plus, it doesn't help that many companies make their BASIC phones with cameras and whatnot. I know Cingular makes you get a data package to get phones cheaper, making you use your phone/feature. It's pros and cons. If you're really into just getting a basic answer/end phone, that's really hard nowadays.

That's the phone I have as well (the black one). I have a prepaid plan with mine, which I just got about three months ago. It's my first cell phone, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I like it.

Could it be because you got a shit phone? You poor dear, you.

Get a pre-paid phone. Most of the phones offered by pre-pay providers are bare-bones basic phones. Got a Nokia 1100 that way -- it does nothing but send and receive calls.
