The wacom tablets are pretty expensive when you are looking at the higher end models. I would love to get one eventually. As for you Magi whatever you are using works really well for you. I still think one of my favorite creations of yours was the Wise Vivi... I think that was the name. Very lose style, but sometimes that works a lot better than tight renderings. So both of you are really good. I'll upload some of my work on here sometime although most of it is pencil.

RagnarokX, nice work. Gotta a great sense of value.

I'd suggest grabbing an Intuos 3 if you can scrape up the cash. I think they're about 300 for the 8x6. Or there's always the Graphire for just over a hundred bucks (I think). It doesn't have the same real estate or pressure sensitivity, but it's still pretty good and it's portable.

Bang bang.

@Magi - I switched over to DA after xchange died but I guess that was a few years ago. I also didnt feel like posting here since it seemed to die a lot, reregistering is a pain. Now I kinda just troll the VG forums >_>;

If you're good at maya and you havent tried zbrush but you'd like to I suggest Mudbox. Its much more maya user friendly.

Magi Jul 18, 2007 01:02 AM

Wow, I forgot how good you were (even better now). I was thinking of a different person entirely for some reason.

UltimaIchijouji Jul 18, 2007 07:38 AM

I have a Intuos3 9x12 and I swear it was worth every penny. Vista just makes it god awful to tolerate though since every five seconds it corrupts my drivers. >:\/

(Can't wait for MacBook Pro-chan)

RagnarokX Jul 18, 2007 08:36 AM

Wow Immp that's pretty sweet, is that almost looks like a straight up painting. Did you do that with the computer or by hand?

Shenlon Jul 18, 2007 11:34 AM

Loving that Model you made in Zbrush meth. I've tried Zbrush and it is easier to model out characters there since its like molding clay but I still had not much success in it since I still need practice in it.

Immp, awesome Dante. Ever since Creators cafe slowed down haven't seen much of ur art so its good too see that you still have some great skills.

This is something I created my freshmen year at college using Maya using only nurbs, supposedly polygons are much better for creating detailed animations. I swear I know about 4% of that program and I was able make this. We had to come up with a theme and recreate a room, so I made Bag End... kinda

hahaha That's awesome. Question for you Magi. Did you go to any kind of college or are those talents of yours self taught. I'm guessing you have had an interest in this kind of stuff for a while now eh?

Magi Jul 25, 2007 01:07 PM

Well, I have been interested in the sequential story telling for a while now, about a couple of years. I do study art in college. In many ways it helped me a lot, although I still have to work a lot.

Shenlon Jul 26, 2007 02:23 PM

ah manga awesome ^^
I tried out open canvas but the trial ran out before I could do some finishing touches to the last pic. My rough outlines are a mess so I envy those with a clean outlining abilities *_*

Anyways this is the last pic open canvas allowed me to almost finish up.

Hey, that's pretty nice. :3 Although there isn't a very clear light source throughout, its a pretty good looking image. :3

Do you use a tablet? (you gotta post more, I kept forgetting) Try using more then one layer gradually refine your rough drafts. Also remember to use ctrl-z to go back on your strokes if you could, try it sometimes. :3 What happens is that when I make a stroke, I'll make it, if it wasn't the right stroke, I'll ctrl-z and go back and make another stroke, until it finally get the one I want. Its could be a very fast back and forth process.

Shenlon Jul 26, 2007 04:00 PM

Yeah I use a tablet now.
I just scrabble all around the screen and create whatever i can and then I just create a new layer to make a cleaner outline.
Spoiler:

this is probably the messiest rough one.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/Exiq/rough.jpg

Magi Jul 26, 2007 07:41 PM

Although proportion and structure can use some work, I like the line quality of that one. :3

Very nice Magi. Always good to have a girl with a gigantic fist kickin ass!

As for Shenlon I would agree with Magi on the light source, but sometimes you go for that effect. To me it has a very air brushy feel to it. That's just me of course, still pretty sweet!

Magi: haha, her facial expression is pretty cool, and that device is badass. Do you have a full frontal picture of that character? I'd like to see more if possible :3

Color study with a friend's picture. I made her look really ugly in comparison with how she really looks. I'm bad with color.

Not done shading and all that, or obviously erasing what's not supposed to be over the lines. But meh. I'll get to it soon enough.
