Yeah. And you actually don't feel intimidated when driving a smaller car there, because there are barely any SUV's on their roads, and far fewer transport trucks.

Most Europeans have small cars because, most times, they suit the cityscape. Small village squares, narrow streets, little to no parking, half of the cost of fuel ate up in taxes and insurance costs -- having a small car is a plus in most cases. Here in the U.S.? Fat chance......most times, owning a small car is seen as proof-positive of a low-income status (which still doesn't explain why so many ghetto folks opt for Escalades in the fucking projects). Personally, I can't wait to hop in a small car that'll save me some cash on fuel costs. Loading up a Town Car with 91 octane puts the fuckin hit on a wallet. |
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I feel fine driving my little civic around. I just stay away from big rigs as Civic + Jackknife = death trap...
What it comes down to for a lot of families is that they can afford the gas so they don't care that they are only getting 15mpg highway when they feel safe in their big ass SUVs. America has some of the lowest gas prices in the world. Until our prices get like those of Europe I doubt people will be trading in their large safe vehicles for the little perceived "death traps" that are most imported cars. |
You got people out there who think "Ford Pinto" whenever they see a subcompact.
Ford Pinto + Rear-end collision = OMGWTFBBQ!! |
I think Geo Metros are worse... Worst car of the century.

With the Ford Festiva (not to be confused with the European Ford Fiesta) following closely.

I have a Toyota Corrolla and get pretty good gas mileage on it, but then again I havent really found myself going anywhere that isnt close by lately....
I filled up like 2 weeks ago and still have a good half a tank left. Considering prices here down south I'm making sure to have it last. |
I was reading up a few posts in the begining of the thread, & I just wanted to add: where the hell do you guys live? Jesus god 2.00 a litre.... Man its 1.04 here in New Brunswick... my neighbour is a gas station & a fairly known one to (Irving)
