I never heard about jarhead that way. I hear Marines got it because some jar company during WWII began making helmets to support the war effort.

Also, I hear leathernecks came from the strip of leather Marines wore in the 1800's to prevent blades from getting into their jugulars.

Well, one of the many problems of the internet is you can't really tell people's intents. The guy seemed arrogant to me. I'm not a part of the Army, but I do have a lot of respect for anyone that serves their country, and disparaging other branches seems sort of disrespectful.

Naw don't worry about it, all the different branches give each other shit. That is the way it has always been but the fact is when we all meet out on the battlefield we work together like brothers. I thought what he said was funny, I see this shit all the time. Don't take it seriously, this from someone who is a member of the Armed Forces ;)

Gumby's right. My brother talks shit about the Army ALL the damn time, and I can't tell you how many jokes are targetted towards the Air Force. It's all in good fun though.

The Marines send their Imagery Analysts through the Air Force's course, so I got to go through my tech school with all but one of the NCO's being Marine Sgts and a PFC-turned-LCpl. That was a rather.....enlightening...and interesting, experience. At times I wished I would have talked more with the marine recruiter rather than the Air Force one. THEY, at least, can follow a simple fucking order.

Though from what I hear, new Marines are being less and less respectable, and lazier. Must be a fucked up generation.

It's true. The Marines hate the Army and hate the Navy twice as much. They have acronyms such as FTA - fuck the army and FTN - fuck the navy and they throw it around everywhere. squid, zoomie, and a whole lot of other words to describe members in other services.

What is funny is that it is the Navy that pays their checks.
