Then again, if your car is an old beater with an automatic tranny and 200,000+ miles on it. You can always use the gears on the automatic like a stick and let each gear wind out to higher rpm for more power before you shift. (I live in a foothill/mountain region.) It helps a lot, conversely when I go to the San Francisco bay area once week I don’t have to shift in and out of 1st gear repeatedly a few hundred times when spending hours in heavy traffic.
