Please yes does that video confirm the return of dynamic entries?

also I wonder what it tastes like.

K_ Takahashi Oct 2, 2007 11:25 AM

As for the intros I think that one we saw was probably adventure based since it was so long, I have no problem with quick entrences (kirby coming on a star, mario warping a pipe and so fourth) it shouldnt take any more than the 3-2-1 countdown before a match.

Dekoa Oct 2, 2007 11:41 AM

That is something I sorely missed in Melee, I think they might just be bringing it back. I Could imagine now, Snake suddenly appears onstage as if he was cloaked.

Also, I think that this Metal Gear Stage will be used alot by players.

If anything, he should sneak in under a Cardboard Box and bust out like he did in the first trailer.

Ha, cool, 8-bit assist trophies! Those will be fun to throw around.

Infernal Monkey Oct 3, 2007 05:09 AM

Holy shit, what an update!

(!!)

Dekoa Oct 3, 2007 06:50 AM

I Like the dual updates in one post. He should do it more often.

Dopefish Oct 3, 2007 07:43 AM

Props to Nintendo for class. 8b assist-trophies will definitely create a fun experience.

(Here's hoping you can still bring down Lakitu and Spinies.)

FatsDomino Oct 3, 2007 08:50 AM

Fuck yes! Pixel trophies you are the best assist trophies ever! =DDDD

I aslo missed those intros in Melee, I liked Ness' . They should do those intros again, if they take 3 seconds, just zoom out the camera so we get to see eberyone's intro at the same time, or do it like Smash 64, just showing a part of it.

Guru Oct 3, 2007 02:00 PM

That Sakurai mentioned Ness in his post about Lucas pretty much confirms for me that Ness will be back.

Is it possible that he could surpass even Ness?
Well, we would never know unless the could fight against each other!

FatsDomino Oct 3, 2007 03:03 PM

Yeah, that thought occurred to me as well. Glad I'm not the only one. =)

Zakiller2000 Oct 4, 2007 02:10 AM

Fox's Final Smash: The Landmaster.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._071004b-l.jpg

We also see Lucas', Zelda's and Diddy's taunts. (I guess)
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._071004c-l.jpg

Shouldn't ride it though.

And boom.

Also, Shielding and Dodging posted.

HAHAHA FUCK YES, YOU ARE THE BEST BARREL ROLL EVER!

Brawl is gaining awesome update by update <3

Zakiller2000 Oct 5, 2007 02:03 AM

Co-op play for Subspace Emissary Mode. Fucking awesome.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._071005a-l.jpg

Basically, it is the same as a standard Smash brawl, so if you take damage and get knocked off the screen, you lose a life.

However, this mode features a space jump that allows Player 2 to return to where Player 1 is even after getting left off the screen.

If Player 2 gets separated from Player 1 by the screen scroll, he or she will quickly space jump back to Player 1's side. But, if Player 2 gets knocked off the screen by an enemy, that counts as a lost life. So, Player 2 will have to keep up with Player 1, as the camera follows them.

The Subspace Emissary mode also uses a map screen.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._071005d-l.jpg

The protagonists form teams based on the developments in the story, with the characters they encounter joining their team.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._071005e-l.jpg

Each time you lose a life, you switch to a different character on your team, and are revived as that new character until you run out of stock lives. (You choose the character order for your team members at the start of each stage.)

In co-op mode, when either player 1 or player 2 loses a life, that player will be revived as another team member until your stock count runs out.

But, if Player 1 loses a life after the stock count has run out, that’s the end! Player 2 is participating simply as an optional player, so be careful.

And of course, choose-able difficulty.

Metal Sphere Oct 5, 2007 02:15 AM

This confirms it: This is the best week of updates so far. We've got snakes, landlords, clusters of pixels, shadowy biblical figures and Lucas. Damn.

This line has got me curious though:

There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before.

chaofan Oct 5, 2007 10:32 AM

The co-op reminds me of the Sonic and Knuckles 3 days where my brother and I played co-op in hopes of finding the giant rings. I'm bloody psyched. And the powering up is bloody intriguing.

Nostalgia get. Game get. Week get. Sakurai one of my favourite game directors get. Tortarree Ja-pun-nee-su!

Chaotic Oct 5, 2007 10:48 AM

The co-op system they implemented here reminds me more of the Kirby games, to be honest.

Just the whole fact if you're too far away from your teammate, you automatically teleport to him as he/she moves on.

Nonetheless awesome though. I seriously have to put down some reserve money on this game now.

FatsDomino Oct 5, 2007 10:50 AM

This is excellent news. However, I would greatly appreciate an online co-op as well. Not all of us are blessed with gaming friends at the ready as most of mine are busy in college. I'm sure I'll have a blast over break with this feature though.

Helloween Oct 5, 2007 11:22 AM

Lucky me, there are about 4 other guys on my floor who are regular smash players and we melee it up almost every day. Now all i need to do is secure a Wii and we're set.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 5, 2007 11:34 AM

You need to be finding a Wii soon, because it's going to be absolutely impossible once the rabid holiday shoppers come out to look for them.

Co-Op looks alright. I'm sure me and my Smash brothers will get some use out of it.

Kagosin Oct 6, 2007 02:30 PM

Well time for me to pay off SSBB at my store now. This interested me more than enough to get it honestly. :)

wilflare Oct 6, 2007 10:29 PM

This is really spicing up to be one nice game [but me no Wii yet :/]
SSBM used to be the most-played game everytime friends come over.
Link and Roy spam FTW oO

trackjacket Oct 7, 2007 01:36 AM

Without a doubt, the best week of updates so far (sans the week with Wi-Fi play being confirmed, cause that was just too awesome). Single-player alone looks like it'll keep everyone occupied for weeks.
