More like December 15. Big games like that always leak.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Sep 8, 2009 10:40 AM

Haha, true that. I was playing Halo over the weekend and overheard some guy going on about how his mate is the best hacker in the world and he'd been playing Halo ODST all day as a result. I imagine it was actually a review copy (Or he was flat out lying) but you know how kids like to big up their stories. Either way I reported him for System Modding...

Hindman already noted down the date, but a bit more info:
Gamasutra - News - FFXIII Gets Japan Release Date, International Launch 'Spring 2010'

Quote:

Square Enix will release much-anticipated Final Fantasy XIII in Japan on December 17 for PlayStation 3, the publisher confirmed today, with a Western window targeting Spring 2010. Including tax, the game will be priced at ¥9240 ($100), one of the higher prices thus far charged for a console game release, even one as long-awaited as FFXIII, the thirteenth main installment in the publisher's seminal RPG franchise.
Japan usually pays higher prices anyway, but $100 is still a lot. However based on that, I'm guessing it'll be $59.99 when it comes out here.

pertaining to or containing or consisting of semen; "seminal fluid"

o_O

I could blow a load on a FF game nowadays for all I care, but wow.

Inhert Sep 10, 2009 11:46 PM

I think it's more in the idea of: highly original and influencing the development of future events: a seminal artist; seminal ideas.

but we can still argue on that definition >.>

Considering that this is the same company who already marks up their DS games by $5-10 it wouldn't surprise me if they decided to charge an obscene amount for FF XIII. $100 probably wouldn't fly, but they could probably charge $80 and not lose too many sales. They'll just drop the price down to the normal range 2 months later and call it a sale.

While you're partially right, given the context, I don't think it means what you think it means.

Then again, I can't really think of anything off the top of my head that the FF series is known to have pioneered besides colorful anal beads materia attachments.

Oh come on. Modern Final Fantasy might be an abortion crawling across the floor, but the classics are some of the best out there.

I feel ya~

Sarag Sep 14, 2009 10:34 PM

FF6 was TOTALLY worth the $80. Don't regret that purchase for the world.

Kimchi Sep 15, 2009 10:00 AM

I am excited even though I know US won't get it until 2010!

Andrew Evenstar Sep 27, 2009 11:41 PM

The newest trailer was just released. OMG

Kimchi Sep 28, 2009 01:05 PM

OMG that's pretty catchy trailer. But one too many kissy scene.

That summon or w.e is pretty damn cool.

Sarag Sep 28, 2009 01:47 PM

Is it bad that I'm mentally identifying all those new people by who they resemble in FF7's cast?

Except for that one kid who looks like Vaan anyway.

WolfDemon Sep 28, 2009 02:38 PM

Wow. I was only mildly excited for this at first, but it's looking pretty fucking amazing now.

I was trying to figure out who everyone resembles from FF7, but aside from the obvious Cloud and Barret, and that guy who's leading the Shinra soldiers who I guess is kinda like Sephiroth with the coat and bangs, (This guy looks to be a ton cooler than Sephiroth. Which isn't really saying that much.) I couldn't see anyone else.

Fuck me if that wasn't Gold Saucer at the beginning of the trailer though.

Dobby Sep 28, 2009 03:15 PM

Three more months... Three more months... thats what my coworker and I are saying as we saw this video. Anticipation levels just hit an all-new high.

Musharraf Sep 28, 2009 04:39 PM

The first part of this trailer is okay, the second half is just homosexual

VitaminZinc Sep 28, 2009 11:07 PM

I still need to finish XII sometime.

This does seem way better than what I was expecting, though.

Kimchi Sep 29, 2009 02:00 PM

I see VII and wtf? For some reason I keep seeting Star Wars. Is it just me being delusional? I think so.

chato Sep 29, 2009 02:21 PM

What's worse is how this whole video reminded me of Xenosaga's first 8 min trailer..

Decoy Goat Sep 30, 2009 09:57 AM

You guys ready for a real revelation from Tokyo Game Show?

It was too loud in there to hear the trailer but sephirothsurprise.jpg made up for it. He was looking at some totally sweet armour displays when Senorita Preved took a photo of him whilst pretending to be taking a photo of the armour displays. He turned at the wrong moment and this face happened... the rest is photographic history.

Final Fantasy XIII Video Game, TGS 09: Official US Trailer HD | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

I'm surprise, the voices acting seem pretty solid so far. In-game cut-scene seem like they have an updated lips-sync with the English dialogue while they change some sentence in the CG cut-scene to match the Japanese lips-sync. Work pretty well I say. I pretty much like all the voices, they work well with each character.

Shenlon Oct 2, 2009 11:30 AM

I honestly thought the opening dialog during the fireworks were pretty bad but then after that it pretty much fixed itself. So no big complaints, I'm guessing they rushed those voices to get them in the trailer so in the final version it'll be decent enough.
I hope they still give some sort of star ocean type of option for text/voices just in case.
