I think I'm probably going to like the way that Diddy plays.

I mean... I tend to like the characters that people hate losing to. I played almost exclusively as Peach in SSBM, and Jigglypuff in SSB.

Meh, I couldn't care less about today's update even if I tried since this looks really similar to Melee's Tournament mode. I rarely used Tournament mode (never played with more than two other people) and when I did play in Tournament mode, something that annoyed me was the fact that if you were playing with the second controller and ended up advancing on the left side of the brackets, then you had to play with the first controller - meaning you had to switch controllers with your friend and visa versa. Real annoying.

However, Sakurai seems to address that fact the Tournament mode is basically worthless if you don't have a large number of people that want to play or if you're by yourself.

"Making this mode fun for [people without a large number of friends]" sounds interesting, but I'll believe it when I see it.

At least it's back. My friends and I used it a lot since there was always six of us playing at one time.

And it's just good for random matching anyway.

It would be nice if they made tournament mode an option when playing against people online, like they did with Dead or Alive 4.

In a way it makes more sense. You're basically facing off against random people with the online component.

As expected, Lucas is confirmed for brawl.

Thanks. Honestly, I would expect the fans to ask for Kumatora, and as an assist trophy, I think it'd be great, hell, I'm happy to see a new Mother character in Smash Brothers alone.

But I think this is a really awesome start for October's updates.

From the look of the screens, Lucas seems to have Ness' moves. Clone, replacement, or misleading screenshots?

I'm very certain Ness is still in the game. The original crew is a Smash staple.

Something I was not expecting, at least not soon. I hope Ness comes back, but Lucas is exactly like him, except maybe for the hair. Will this week have interesting updates?

"Is it possible he can surpass even Ness?!" If we are positive that phrase means Ness will be back, as it is as misleading as the trophies one , were it wasn't clear if trophies were returning or not (and they did n_n).

Sakurai only said that characters from Melee might not return. I'm confident that anyone from the original cast will be returning. I'm sure Lucas will be similar to Ness but different enough to stand his own - certainly not a clone like Falco, Dr. Mario, Young Link, and Marth/Roy (whichever you didn't prefer). Besides what would be the point of just dressing up Ness's fighting moves in a new model and ditching him? I think Sakurai has got this handled.

I guess I was too much in excitement when I was looking at the screenshot ZaKiller2000 provided for us. The energy ball Lucas uses there kinda looked like Ness' Up+B move, which was what I was referring to.

For me personally I'm starting to get tired of the updates. Give me the game already!!!

Like say, taking Link's moves, then dressing them up in a Twilight Princess model? It's Lucas because Mother 3 is the most recent game, no more, no less. See what's-her-name from Fire Emblem and the Pokemon Trainer (even though he's using the original starters).

If we're talking clones here, then I'm sure most debates about, "Oh! Is Falco returning?" or "Who's coming back? Roy or Marth?" would be debunked. If Lucas is only a slight variation of Ness, he would considerably be a clone, and if Ness is bound for a return, then so should a majority of the clones. I'm sure with Falco, Gannon, and the rest of them, they could vary them up enough to be their own original character.

Luigi was a clone in SSB, was given a move exclusive to him in Melee. It's enough to say he fights differently than Mario at this point.

This saddens me greatly XD I was waiting for Ness from day 1 to be announced, Sure i had my suspicions that Lucas would be in the cast but I never thought it would actually happen. Lucas looks awesome and whatnot but theres still this feeling about Ness that I cant ignore. He was my fav char and Lucas even tho if he plays similar cant replace him

I sure hope Ness comes back :P

What about C. Falcon and Ganondorf... HUM. I'm still worried but "feeling" they will kick Ganondorf's ass out of the game, since C. Falcon is "more important" on Nintendo Games.

This is why Nintendo isn't epic win and god, because they'd be massive win to release that title on this same day for this week's VC.

There is only ONE reason why Ness wouldn't be returning and that is the theory that the canceled N64 version of Mother 3's Lucas was originally to be in the original Smash Bros. but when that game bit the dust they used Ness instead and gave him Lucas' intended fighting moves. If you research Ness' PK attacks they are all moves that he doesn't know in Mother 2 and it's said in Melee to clear it up that he learned them from Paula which might be covering for two blunders.

OTHERWISE Lucas is different enough to not be a clone and Ness is still in the game because Sakurai has said that the original crew will not be given the boot.

These are the only two possibilities that I see at this time.

well, then i hope Ness gets its "original" move set and Lucas gets Ness one (as it was intended since Smash 64). But just like Darkshineknight, I have the same feelings, I mean Lucas looks cool and all, but there is something about Ness that can't be ignored.

I still don't understand why would Sakurai take anyone from Melee out (well the only one should be Dr. Mario) , I mean we saw that Brawl models are too similar to the ones used in Melee (just ask Kirby), so just update everyone from Melee , take the Doc out and add more characters. Taking characters out will just disappoint fans.

I want to see Ness come back, and with his PK Rockin' attack. Final Smash maybe?

Well, honestly I'm glad to see all the similar characters taken out because it makes each character their own entity. I felt like adding Dr. Mario just made the value of regular Mario diminish a lot.
Also, new Snake level revealed! I was wondering when they'd make a level with walls!
