Scarsick is Perfect Element II. Printed on the inside of the case, in very small font, is "the perfect element part 2: he".
TPE was about broken people. Scarsick is about a broken society. |
Well I wouldn't know that, since I downloaded it. =B When I was looking for info, someone mentioned that they were separate albums, but apparently he was wrong. I was going to say that the better songs did sound like Part I. I guess King and Kingdom of Loss go along with what you're saying. Well, thanks for ruining my day.

The new Ensiferum single is AWESOME! I'm sure it's all over the internet now, go listen to it. Man, now I can't wait for the new album release!
|
Sweet. I'll have to get the new Ensiferum when I get some money. I really enjoy that band. Any other bands similar to them?
The only other bands that I have that are viking/folk are Arkona, Moonsorrow, Bathory, Hantaoma, and some others I'm sure just can't recall. |
Soooo the new Dream Theater has been titled and dated. Systematic Chaos hits shops in June.
Also it contains a 25-minute-plus track, and a song called Prophets of War. Just from the track/album titles it all sounds very Megadethly. |

Has anyone given a spin to the new Swallow the Sun album Hope? I bought it at the album release gig yesterday and it rolls like the delicious doom ('n death) machine it is.
I especially like, well, every track. |

BTW, Scarsick has grown on me. I still don't like "America" or the chorus of "Disco Queen", but the rest is good. |
So the new Ensiferum was leaked. 3 listens so far and I can say it passed the test of "will it still be Ensiferum without Jari?".
It sounds and feels like Ensiferum, but yeah, like an uninspired Ensiferum. While musically they remain in the same catchy vein, I must say I didn't feel the particular touch in melodies that made much of the atmosphere of the previous albums. Sure, the catchy headbang factor is still here and it's a fun album, but it still misses something. Maybe next one? =p |
Wow, really? I kinda noticed that with Dragonheads.. damn, now I have to try and find if it's rapidshared already or something.
|
Dream Theater is hit & miss with me. Occasionally one of their songs I hear, listen to, and actually like, but most are just substanceless.

Newest haul:
Solitude Aeturnus - Into the Depths of Sorrow Solitude Aeturnus - Adagio Destruction - Thrash Anthems Therion - Gothic Kabbalah Grave Digger - Liberty or Death |
Well, I think I have a candidate for biggest surprise of 2007 already: Charlie Dominici's new album.
He's doing this "O3" project which will consist of three separate concept albums. The first was a somewhat iffy, sort of pretentious acoustic album which had its moments but was overall pretty boring. Well, the second part of the trilogy is released in a week, and of course it's already available online. And... It's heavy as hell. It's actually up to the standards of Dream Theater's Train of Thought as far as the sound goes, but with loads more synth and melody. Recommended to any prog metal fans. A+++ would listen again~ |
Recently I've been listening to Mercenary - The Hours That Remain quite often. It's weird when I first listened to it I was indifferent towards it remarking how similar it sounded to Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos era. But then I listened to it some more, discovering the little nuances and the fantastic vocal melodies as well. Seriously, the vocals on that album are some of the best ever to grace melodic death metal. I normally don't listen for vocals, but I feel that it's those vocals that push that album over the end of being just a standard melodic death metal band.
|
Mercenary's really enjoyable. I forget what track made me want to stick it on my mp3 player, but yeah. But hen I <3 melodic death.
Oh, and if Dream Theater's new album/song titles remind people of Megadeth, does that mean that DT's well on the way to being a new punchline in the annals of metal? |

It's like soup with no salt. It's still soup, but not really soup. |

edit: k, like, really ... WTF Whatever happened to riding motorbikes and Heroic Fantasy battles? =/ edit2: Ok, so it's actually classic Manowar with added "symphonic" interludes and narrations. The classic Manowar parts are good, as to be expected. The rest though ... |
lol. I was lolling while reading the booklet actually, but it's still a pretty decent album. Some parts are boring though.
So, Finntroll's new album is on the internet. Haven't listened(downloaded) to it yet. Your thoughts? |
Is the manowar members actually that ripped :D
|
I just got Dimmu Borgir's Death Cult Armageddon, and all I can say is, wow, incredible. Fell in love w/ it right away :).
