they already putting some artworks on the bonus DVD so I really don't think they will release an artbook with it...

what I want to see now is a "real" english trailer(other then that not-so-great-quality youtube video)

With the english voice acting or some sample...maybe the full website will have those, guess I'll wait one week...

Nope. There's the usual CG opening followed by a sort of..."Currently in Ivalice since the opening..."...prologue kind of thing before you gain control but that's not 17 minutes.

Yuna Jul 30, 2006 08:52 PM

That's the one I want !
I hope one of these sites ships it to my country, I know Amazon doesn't ship games to where I live.

CuteChocobo Jul 30, 2006 09:05 PM

Wondering about one question... does Collector Edition also means Limited Edition? Because I really want to get the case, but in most cases of Limited Edition cases Australia never seems to get any of those <_<

I gotta say that S-E's design team finally made some impressive cases and it actually look DIFFERENT to other FF cases :)

So if thats the collector edition cover, what is the normal edition cover? The same as the JP releases?

They haven't released a cover yet but I really doubt it will be the same as the JP (only the logo, as always).

Inhert Jul 30, 2006 11:03 PM

maybe it will follow the FFX cover, like Vaan on cover and Ashee on the back (or the way around) or something like that... or I can really se the Judge artwork on the cover! ^^

and I'm pretty sure that you can't find the collector editon in amazon, because the colelctor edition is a gamestop/EBgames exclusive ...

I do hope they decide to toss in an extra bonus or two, most notably an art book.
This'll probably be included with the LE guide.

Yuna Jul 31, 2006 12:36 PM

If I'm not mistaken the cover will be the same as the japanese. While looking for a pre-order of the game I looked at some sites and of of those had the "Normal Edition" and the cover was the same as the JAP.
But, of course, it is not imperative that it will be the final cover.

I reserved the collector's edition today. The process was easy enough, but the bonus is that I learned that my Gamestop guaranteed me that the game will be ready to pick up on 10/31. According to them, they will be receiving the shipment 2 or 3 days eariler but won't sell it until the 31st.

It makes me happy to hear that they're taking first priority with this game, like they did with GTA:SA. But after thinking it over, it is kind of a drag to receive the game on Halloween. I'm always on a pure horror mood that day, and between the horror marathons and answering doors for trick or treaters, I might not even play FFXII until the day after.

The clerk also tried to convince me to reserve the LE guide, saying that the supplies for the guide are even smaller than for the CE, but I don't usually like purchasing guides. I'll have to see if the bonus content is worth the price.

Any word when those FFXII figures will be available? I'd much rather pick up one of them along with the game.

Spatula Jul 31, 2006 04:24 PM

So you can preorder guides. I should look into this ASAP, at least whatever offers are in Canada. What I'm not looking forward to is all the crappy cosplay of FFwhatever come Oct 31.

nanstey Jul 31, 2006 05:31 PM

I work for a major game retailer, and I can vouch for what your clerk said there, SOLDIER. Also, the game is street dated, and will very likely have a midnight release, a la NCAA football and Madden 07. The fact that no one yet knows what the additional content will be for the LE guide is bothersome, though - it's hard to convince someone to plunk down cash for something that's so nebulous, even when they can cancel the reservation. I do have reserves on both the LE guide and the CE game, though - and I just got the LE sountrack form Japan - it comes in a really sweet case. Here it is, sorry if it's already been posted somewhere -

The only thing I noticed different from this one and the one I got was that the CD's themselves were different. Each one had two characters on it, the fourth one showing two moogles. Anyway, though, it's a cool piece.

That's usual standard practice though, especially with the big titles. An example being that we get our shipments every Friday before the Tuesday release dates for our DVDs and games.

Since I preordered my copy online it'll take a couple of days before I get my copy but that's no biggie. September and October are going to be bests for gaming though.

The fact that practically every LE guide bonus for a Square Enix game has been an artbook leads one to believe....

And the game's been streetdated by retailers, eh? *waits for the inevitable "I GOT FFXII ON THE 25TH!!" topic*

Yuna Jul 31, 2006 06:38 PM

I'll probably wait to buy mine. I'll probably buy it on eBay a few months later, it is very price for me to buy it on release day because of the currency exchange of dolars and the money form my country.

For the last FF I payd 200 bucks (that's not 200 dolars but still a lot here where I live), so I'll just wait a bit. Probably I'll play my unofficial copy of it until the price has gone down a bit.

I have the same set as you, and my CDs have the two characters. This is the Limited Edition case, where as the ones in the picture posted are the regular OST. Your set probably looks something like this.

Are the artbooks worth the price, though? The only LE guide I've seen that seemed to have a comprehensive enough artbook was the one for FFX-2, and those were mostly CG stills.

That's what bugs me about Bradygames' guides, most of the art is just CG renders you could find anywhere. To me, a real artbook is full of concept sketches and rare illustrations. That FFIX book they brought over is exactly what I want to see. And with such a long development time, I'm sure FFXII has tons of concept designs that could take up a whole book.

Christ, I want this game so bad. I'm ready for it now, but I still have to wait for it. I was thinking of playing one of Matsuno's best, but I've already finished FFT and Vagrant Story. Which of the Ogre Battle games do you recommend? I'd especially like a game with a political story like FFXII's.

Also, damn OPM and their FFXII preview. They gave away the surprise of the "tutorial" that opens the game. Bastards.

In the upcoming Final Fantasy XII, the earth elemental summon uses an attack called "Rock You", a nod to the song We Will Rock You from the album News of the World. However, Rock You has apparently been changed to "Roxxor" in the localized English version of the game.
What.

Cirno Aug 4, 2006 12:38 AM

Is there a level 2 version of this move called "URBOXXORZ"?

Spoiler:
i'm lame.

Rei no Otaku Aug 5, 2006 11:22 AM

You could use "roxxor" in the demo. It was a spell one of the summons used, and yes the name is horrible.

Zeta26 Aug 6, 2006 10:16 AM

Even with that, mind you. THis is nothing like FFX-2 k? FFX-2 is on a whole other league. And is not to be called "FFX-2 2" but Final Fantasy XII <_<. If you don't like the english edition. Then don't buy it, simple as that.

Spatula Aug 6, 2006 10:22 AM

What. ROXXORs isn't going to stop me dead in the tracks of getting it. This is still, from what I've seen so far, lightyears away from anything X-2. That was bad. I just hope that other spells and moves don't have "ZOMGBBQSAUCEATTACKFORMASSIVEDAMAGE". Even then, much of the rest of the game seems pretty matured.

It's funny that you'd think I not want to try out this title anymore, considering I'm already quite excited about this title. The Roxxors just seemed like a total oddball outta the blue, that's all. Chill dude.

Is the local EB stores going be selling the Collector's Edition? I cannot pay $59.99US for it. It sucks that EB doesn't have a Canadian version of their store :(

Spatula Aug 9, 2006 12:05 AM

Yes, the Canadian EB games - physical stores, will carry the Collectors Edition for probably $69.99 CDN. I have already preordered and it will be released on the same day as the regular edition - Oct 31, 2006. However for some reason the store I preordered won't get them Nov 1, probably because as in previous posts people have mentioned that Oct 31 is when the games are shipped from the distribution centre to the stores, but at any rate, whether some stores get it Oct 29th, 30th, or November 2, I'm not too too fussy.

Freelance Aug 9, 2006 06:05 AM

Awesome news. Thanks a lot, Spatula. Since it is a Collector's Edition, I'm wondering whether I should pre-order too. I never pre-order games since there's always a gazillion copies in every store I go to, but it could be a different story with these fancier editions.

soapy Aug 9, 2006 02:55 PM

There's no harm in pre-ordering, you usually just put down $5-$10 usually and it guarantees you a copy. I pre-order mostly so I don't have to run out and get it right away to make sure I have a copy, but so that I know it's there when it comes out.
