can't play PSX games through ISOs, you'll need to convert them to EBOOTs through PSX2PSP or any other converter. You'll need to find the necessary files. Good luck.

Update: nope, still don't work :/ wont work on any emulators on PC either. I can't see why not, parappa works decently on the PSP. |
I've recently acquired a 2.71 PSP and it turns out it is a TA-082, since I can distinctly see 'IC1003' on the board.
Now, I'd like to try to downgrade the system to 1.50. Are there any specific precautions I need to take, besides using the power supply during the process and following carefully the various guides? You see, I'm quite nervous about the possibility of it bricking. I read here and there that the HEN-D process is quite safe if done accurately. What I want to know is if there's yet a completely casual chance that the console ends up corrupted. Any advice or reasurrement is much appreciated. |
I found a great PSP ISO site! http://www.pspiso.com/
Kinda like SNESORAMA but very unorganized. Thank god for the search option though. |
Yeah, I've been using them for awhile. Unfortunetly, I didn't see JF's post about Generation of Chaos until just a minute ago (I downloaded GoC a couple days ago, haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, however)
I'm also thinking about starting an FTP maybe (I have ALOT of PSXPSP games now, along with ALOT of PSP games, converted and ready to play) I need to wait until I get a very decent connection at my apartment (in the process of doing that right now, actually) so until then... |
^-^ - good idea. I won't mind make a few of my own and sending it to you.
More Importantly,I've been playing Star Ocean 2. Did anyone get a game freeze when you go to your super specialty menus? It's not like I made the iso. I downloaded it but if it's some kind of error those guys did, I can rip my games instead.. Unless I need some kind of plugin to prevent it from happening. |
Well, I haven't gotten a chance to try out Star Ocean, but I did encounter an issue with Chrono Cross, when you get KorCHA into your team for the first time, it refused to load the member join menu, so I just made sure I saved before that and used an emulator to get past that section.
|
Yeahh.. I don't suggest you continue playing Chrono Cross. It apparently freezes every time you go to the menu. And for future references when you're going to play an PSX game:
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40526 |
They confirmed Star Ocean 2 to be playable (Up to disc2), but they probably never checked the menu within the menus. I'm at disc2 yet the psp crashes/turns off by itself when you get into your super specialty skills. There's a 10 percent chance of happening when you get into Identify All!.
I'll wait for someone else to try it out and see what happens. Unless I need another emulator or something =/. |
Maybe the error started happening in the 3.10 pop-plugin. Try using the 3.03 plugin... not sure how to do that though. Try to ask around in that forum.

Wonder if anyone could help me with this. Whenever I try to upgrade my PSP from 3.02 to 3.03 it just comes up as 'Corrupted Data'. Any ideas?
|
Are you trying to update it via network or by copying the data off your computer onto your PSP? Whichever you've been doing, try the other method first.
|
Waiting for that ever-so-fateful updated to fix Chrono Cross's compatiblity
|
Er. Did you update to 3.03 OE yet? That apparently fixes most of the previous PSX bugs.
|
I have been meaning to try; but does Chrono Cross (I've never played it) work across both discs as I have read it does not let you save at the end of the first disc.
|
It apparently freezes up at the status menu.
|
not on 3.30OE-A! It works fine on that firmware. However, that leads me to my problem.
I recently got Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Edition. I tried it on firmware 3.03OE-C and it ran great! I read that 3.30OE-A ran Chrono Cross fine, so I decided to upgrade to that firmware. Now when I try to play Final Fantasy, it skips like hell. Anybody know why this is happening? *edit* Bleh. I just ended up just downgrading back to 1.50, then back to 3.03OE-C. True, 3.30OE-A could handle Chrono Cross very well, it wouldn't play the rest of my games. Now to rehack my XMB again... *edit #3* The issue was one of my plugins. I guess it was sending a buffer overflow during umd load that caused a lag. I'm going to log this to the plugin creator. I'm thinking about re-upgrading to 3.30OE-A, so I can play Chrono Cross... >_> Should I? |

Well, I went ahead and upgraded again. I just got everything restored back to the way I had it (except my custom XMB, 3.30OE-A doesn't support that yet, so it'll just freeze on startup unless you restore the old topmenu_plugin.rco..)
But yeah, that plugin was what was killing it for some odd reason. Now everything runs really smooth. I didn't know that he was planning on bringing out another pops selector so soon. Let's hope he does. |
Price drops? I've seen a few deals and then just noticed this on Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16868110001 |
DAX has released 3.30 OE-A' and 3.40 OE-A
http://www.psp-hacks.com/2007/04/20/...oe-a-released/ pspupdates is currently down. =/ |
So from what ive read so far, I can currently play PS1 (converted) with the latest firmware, but not emulators right?
And I assume I need some kind of loader to play non US games? |
Quote:
3.40 (official Sony)? If you have higher than 3.03 Firmware (official), then you can only play PS1 games that you buy from the Sony online store using the PS3. If you're at 3.03 (official) or below, you can downgrade to 1.5 (official) and then upgrade to a custom firmware to enjoy all the goodies. Converted PS1 games can only be played on custom firmwares, such as 3.40 OE-A. |
