I'd be more excited about C64 games if the pricing weren't so atrocious. A significant chunk of the C64's library is freeware, either explictly (such as the Alternate Reality games) or implicitly (company no longer exists), so it just seems wrong to pay more for old computer games than it does for NES titles.

I probably missed this by skipping ahead 32 pages, but are they also authentically recreating the C64's load times?

Is on the PAL VC today. <3
(Along with Wonderboy, plus California Games and Impossible Mission for the C64)

I guess we'll end up seeing ANOTHER Golden Axe game. Chances are you guys will get Europe'd for Rock Band and pay a trillion dollars, so I only wish terrible things upon you!

Tails Apr 12, 2008 01:41 PM

Lmao, got an e-mail from Nintendo about them adding Yoshi's Cookie and Bases Loaded.

Yeah ok. Can we get some real games on the VC or what. Might as well rename it the Virtual Browser since there's nothing worth buying.

Ikari Warriors or bust.

Helloween Apr 13, 2008 05:08 PM

No idea if it's too late to vote or not but i sent in

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Super Mario RPG
3. Illusion of Gaia
4. Donkey Kong 64
5. Earthbound.

I really wish people Square would stop hating Chrono fans, and just resurrect the franchise already. Hell, even a DS port would be awesome.

Nintendonomicon Apr 13, 2008 06:43 PM

Mega Turrican (Genesis) and Fantasy Zone (MS) will be the games for America tomorrow.

In other news, 3 Neo Geo games have been rated by the OFLC. These are Burning Fight, Ninja Combat and Art of Fighting 2.

Lukage Apr 13, 2008 11:43 PM

Mega? We just had Super Turrican a few weeks ago. UGH.

Although if we do indeed get Fantasy Zone, I will be pleased. One quality title a month, thats all I ask.

Now I can think of only one more game that Infernal needs to be happy.

Teddy Boy.

Infernal Monkey Apr 15, 2008 04:51 AM

Oh man. Teddy Boy's too good for the Virtual Console. It'd need its own special section in the shop, and when you download it, Teddy Boy firmware installs itself that turns all the channels into dice. You can't tell which is which, but it doesn't matter - they all start up Teddy Boy.

Judging by the poor sales of Chrono Cross in Japan compared to expectations (I read that on Wikipedia THIS COULD BE WRONG), I think their reasons for not making a sequel are general "Never make an RPG for the US audience only" fears.

Jesus, anyone remember Final Fantasy Mystic Quest? What a shitfest THAT was.

Nintendonomicon Apr 16, 2008 06:37 PM

River Freakin' Ransom THIS MONDAY, BABY!

Double Dragon and Renegade will follow each week, in that order.

FatsDomino Apr 16, 2008 07:06 PM

FUCK. YES.

Wall Feces Apr 16, 2008 07:08 PM

Christ, took em long enough. Time to spend those Wii points I got for Christmas :)

Also, seems to be time for a thread title change, Acer ;)

FatsDomino Apr 16, 2008 07:10 PM

DONE.

MrMonkeyMan Apr 16, 2008 07:16 PM

GIVE US MASTER SYSTEM DOUBLE DRAGON!

Double Dragon ONE? God damn it, why. Double Dragon II is like 9001 times better. >=(

RCR though, sweet.

What, with its two player co-op compared to the NES' single player masturbate-a-thon? And its ability to show more than half an enemy on the screen? No! That's illegal! Also awesome-o, you guys finally get Street Gan..-River City Ransom! :3: Now you just need the Megaman 1 and 2 we've had for eighty years. AUHHUWQUHAHUWLOAFOFBREADUHAUHWUHA

Liar. FFMQ is fun as hell. Simple? Yes. Stupid fun, and a great way to spend a weekend replaying? FUCK YEAH.

While we're beating on black sheep, where's the SoE haters? I have words for you, too.

FatsDomino Apr 17, 2008 10:14 PM

The only reason I can conclude why people hate Secret of Evermore would be that it is the scapegoat for Seiken Densetsu 3 never making it over to the states. That's about it.

Nintendonomicon Apr 17, 2008 10:27 PM

I still have my SoE cartridge, safely kept in the warm darkness that watches over the humble ludic collection I've amassed over the years. It was quite fun when I got it, I played it through a couple of times. I thought it had interesting dialogue.

Sure, it's no [insert Mana game of your linking here] but it's no Baroque either!

I don't get the furor anyway. I played the game; Seiken Densetsu 3 was not really that good. Twice the angst and none of the charm of Secret of Mana, and somehow the gameplay came off a lot stiffer as well. Secret of Evermore meanwhile continued to use the superior SoM engine, except with most of the bugs weeded out.

VitaminZinc Apr 18, 2008 04:15 PM

Man, where's Double Dragons?

While I would have loved to have Seiken Densetsu 3, that wasn't why I hated Secret of Evermore at least. I hated it because it was single player and the multiplayer is part of what I loved about Secret of Mana. It was a RPG I could actually play with my friends.

According to my math skills, you're just over a week away...

Oh, I missed that part.

...What about Double Dragon 2, man?! That's the best one, imo....
