I, um... that is... THE GODS! don't think it's... acceptable to pass, er, used beads on to your friends, er, especially when you found them in a used state yourself, or, rather, dug them out of the very body cavity in which they were, so to speak, embedded.

'cuz that's gross.

Those frozen dwarves you found had some weird hobbies is what I guess I'm trying to say here

I was using the reason that you might not want rules questions and discussion about two separate games in the same thread, but i suppose that's not really too much of an issue. I'll see about moving it over if you'd rather have some activity in here.

So, Pang, to clarify, are we starting the next adventure under guild style rules or are we keeping the same adventurers?

Hot damn. All that passive perception and Cal never noticed the true purpose of those anal beads? Oh my.

Well, I figure there are questions specific to each particular game. Sure, we could lump it together, but segregation might be beneficial. Hawk's game, for example, will necessarily have to deal with game mechanics already covered in the Magic Missile thread. There is strictly no need for a separate Arena discussion thread, but I am using it to monitor sign-ups (as if) so :tpg:

Yeah, guild kicks in at the very beginning of the next adventure (or, continuity-wise, just before. Might do a flashback. Might do an interlude. We'll see). So Zeph and Hawkeye rotate out, having had 2 consecutives, and the randomly-selected Shin, Animechanic and CetteHamsterLa rotate in to fill the party.

So the new party will be:

wvlf (Gra-fa-zut)
Deni (Samwise)
Shin (Beefi Kertanz, Minotaur Barbarian)
Cette (Uxig "Slim" Uxigson, Kobold Barbarian/Runepriest)
Chanic (Garold Fangus, Shifter Seeker)

No. Hard Pass. Oct 15, 2010 10:03 PM

O Jesus. That party balance.

This will be epic.

Also, Shin being back in is awesome. Horde reuniting.

Animechanic Oct 15, 2010 10:15 PM

Well, fights should go quickly with this party... one way or the other.

Edit: Adding character file as an attachment since it will probably make Pang's life easier. Also I forgot to add a background benefit previously.

So I guess this is the party of yelling "SPOOOOOOOON" and charging blindly forward.

Defense and strategy is for pussies anyway.

A4: IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS Oct 16, 2010 03:29 AM

Hammer to the face is totally a valid strategic response to all problems.

On a totally unrelated note Pang what are your feelings on the fastball special in place of a charge?

Zergrinch Oct 16, 2010 07:53 AM

Pang, special request from a cheapskate.

Is it possible for you to download Compendium data with MasterPlan 9.5 and share the .library files here? :)

The charging rules do not in any way specify that the individual making the charge must be touching the ground. =D

AFAIK Masterplan hasn't been able to download the Compendium ever since the developer received a C&D about precisely that back in April/May. It's possible he's tried some sneaky end-run around the Hasbro lawyers but I doubt it.

I don't know what the fuck we're going to do around here when the Char Builder goes web-based. I don't mind sharing to some degree but 1 account for 3 campaigns and some 20 players is... well.

Zergrinch Oct 16, 2010 08:42 AM

Character Builder is going web-only? Say it ain't so :(

The unmovable stubborn Oct 16, 2010 09:03 AM

There hasn't been an explicit announcement as such, but a lot of things different devs have said kind of add up in that direction. It's the smart move from the WotC perspective; I expect they have more to gain from selling a product to Mac/Linux gamers and sealing up their biggest piracy hole than they have to lose from pissing off a few Luddites (and several thousand pirates).

As a customer I'm 100% on board with the move, but as a DM for people who aren't customers, well. Still, if it's web-based the "5 install limit" no longer makes sense and I can just share an account with the group I guess...

Zergrinch Oct 16, 2010 09:40 AM

I just might possibly be grasping at straws here, but could you try with MasterPlan 8.8, supposedly the last one with Compendium access?

Also, I would expect WotC to implement some kind of IP check, or possibly restrict the session to one IP logged in at a time. Because if they don't, one person from, say, SA, can post his login credentials. And that would be sad. :)

I'm sure I picked up a feat or power or something that lets you leap instead of running on a charge attack.

This party is so hilariously unbalanced it's awesome. It's either going to result in an epic murdering spree or a very short, messy death for everyone involved. :)

No dice, just throws up a bunch of Unhandled Exceptions.

I don't see mega-communities like SA or 4chan being a real risk to the "just log in" methodology, since if there's one thing you can count on goons or channers for, it's ruining a good thing for everyone else. If you log in to someone's DDI account you can cancel it for them (and get their CC info if you're persistent), so nobody's going to hand it out to total unknowns.

Making up a psion with the Living Missile ability. We're going to make bum darts a reality!

Also, is there a way to print just the char sheet on Obsidian Portal? So far I'm not a big fan of this website. Seems incredibly limiting.

The unmovable stubborn Oct 17, 2010 07:52 PM

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you wanted to print your sheet for some reason couldn't you just do that from within the Char Builder?

If you don't like the formatting of the default sheet you're not forced to use it; that's why I've encouraged folks to sign up so they can arrange their own sheets in whatever way suits them. You just dump the html / textile code in the "crunch" section and it's really no harder to work with than the wiki was.

D&D Tools - Character Sheet Creator offers an alternate preset to work from; it's not as elegant IMO but there's a little more room to cram in descriptions & etc.

A4: IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS Oct 17, 2010 09:44 PM

So guns in the setting means some form of gun or blasting powder decently is available correct?

Zergrinch Oct 17, 2010 09:53 PM

Textile has me beat up worse than Wikitext. I've just decided to surrender and use a picture for my quick reference :(

Believe we've had blasting powder in one form or another since back in Adventure I, yes.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Oct 20, 2010 02:40 PM

I'm not sure I like the portrait you picked for Beefi, Pang. I saw him as more of a Fresian, like this:

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Oct 22, 2010 04:28 AM

I updated the Obsidian thingy with my character background if anyone's interested.

Zergrinch Oct 22, 2010 05:02 AM

So, just looking at a few party stats after browsing the wiki.

HP65 S11 AC18 Fort21 Ref15 Will15 Beefi Kertanz
HP56 S09 AC21 Fort18 Ref16 Will19 Garold Fangus
HP69 S09 AC25 Fort18 Ref19 Will18 Gra-fa-zut
HP52 S06 AC23 Fort15 Ref23 Will17 Samwise Shadowspade
HP60 S10 AC20 Fort19 Ref15 Will15 Uxig Uxigson
------------------------------------------------------------
HP60 S09 AC21 Fort18 Ref18 Will17 Party Average

Conclusion: Beefi Kertanz = punching bag hamburger :tpg:

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Oct 22, 2010 05:10 AM

He also has the highest single enemy damage attack with his 4d12+7 rage strike. :D
