Even though I'm still bitter about the Sens advancing past us, you have got to love this quote from TSN.

"Sometimes the Jersey crowd almost put you to sleep a little bit. I think that's the way their team almost wants it," Senators centre Jason Spezza said following Wednesday's practice.

PKO May 9, 2007 08:35 PM

The Sens will choke like they always do. I think Buffalo has way too much depth for Ottawa to handle. The Spezza-Alfredsson-Heatley line is all Ottawa has. Plus, from what I've seen, Buffalo is really good at cycling the puck to the high slot which means they always have hangers there and from what I saw in the NJ series, that is exactly where Emery tends to give up alot of big rebounds (ones that NJ couldn't cash in on). Ottawa does have the better defense though, so things should be interesting (especially with what happened in the regular season between these two).

I wouldn't call Alfredsson, Spezza, and Heatley all Ottawa has. Beyond those three they have like six or seven guys who are 20 goal scorers. That's not really too much of a lack in secondary scoring.

TheKnightOfNee May 14, 2007 12:57 AM

I didn't see the Detroit/Anaheim game because I had to work, but it looks like Anaheim tied the series up at 1. And the tying goal the Ducks scored to force overtime, I've been hearing shouldn't have been a goal, as Hasek had the puck and was pushed into the net.

Little Brenty Brent Brent May 14, 2007 01:01 AM

Yeah, there's no question the puck crossed the line, but they really shouldn't have allowed it. People always talk about how penalties aren't reviewable, and honestly when it's on a goal like that, they really ought to be. The puck was caught up in Hasek's pads and he was shoved into the net, and it came free and sort of sat there on his leg as he slid into the goal.

Little Brenty Brent Brent May 15, 2007 10:48 PM

Hey, classy job, Anaheim fans! Throw more shit on the ice 'cause you're butt hurt you're getting raped 5-0!

Hearing that arena chant "Red Wings suck" when they're beating the Ducks 3-0 at that point is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in professional hockey.

I wonder what they'll do to show their anger over Pronger's pending suspension?

Oops, no double-post hack eh?

Wojo May 16, 2007 02:29 PM

What exactly did they throw on the ice?

Little Brenty Brent Brent May 17, 2007 02:05 AM

Standard angry fan stuff. Empty drinks, other garbage. You know. The usual.

I remember this post:
Yes, the Sens just won in overtime.

Oh you cannot sit there and say that Ray Emery took you guys to the finals. If anything it was your high powered offense.

So I think we'll have a Western Conference Stanley Cup champ this year. It would at least continue my string of "team-that-beats-my-team-rarely-wins-out" predictions.

Man i don't care about hockey but all these ottawa fans paraded downtown and my bus just stood at an intersection for about an hour ]:

SuperSonic May 19, 2007 10:20 PM

I'm seeing something in this Stanley Cup series that I don't usually see. It happened with the Rangers last game of the playoffs and it happened today in Buffalo. Even though the team got eliminated in their hometown, the fans cheered the team. I didn't see it much in San Jose, but it's giving me a new respect for the game.

So apparently TSN and other sources are reporting that Jim Balsillie just bought up the Nashville Predators. I am pretty sure he will want to move their team. That is an unfortunate thing, but really who ever thought a franchise would make it in Nashville?

Also I think this is enough evidence proving Balsillie wanted to move the Penguins. Fucking asshole, I knew it.

Little Brenty Brent Brent May 23, 2007 09:52 PM

I wonder which teams they're going to juggle around to rebalance the conferences? Maybe Detroit will finally get kicked over to the east where they belong.

Fiddlegoof May 28, 2007 12:14 AM

Well that may be it for the Predators... Nashville anyways.. The owner is contemplating selling the franchise to some guy in waterloo, who owns the Blackberry company. Seventh Canadian team anyone?

Wojo May 28, 2007 05:26 PM

Hey jackass.

I already posted the link and it was a confirmed sell. No one is "contemplating" anything.

Sorry man. Haven't been here for a while since the crash.
My apologies.

Wojo May 28, 2007 09:56 PM

Well you apologized so it's all good buddy. However, I'm not editing my post because I never miss an opportunity to say "hey jackass"

Anyway how about that game. It's amazing how fast both of these teams are.

CapturedPenguin May 28, 2007 10:11 PM

Seriously. I'm hoping it goes 7 just because of the quality of the games.

You know what. I'm glad the Ducks won. If the Wild is gonna lose to a team, I want it to be the team that goes all the way.

Dopefish Jun 14, 2007 11:23 PM

Sidney Crosby took home three trophies tonight: the Art Ross (which they started etching his name into weeks ago), the Hart (league MVP as voted by hockey writers) and the Pearson (league MVP as voted by the player's union). Malkin also snagged the Calder.

Borg1982 Jun 15, 2007 01:46 AM

How did Luongo not take best goalie? Grrrrr....

No. Hard Pass. Jun 15, 2007 05:04 PM

Because Brodeur set a record for wins in a single season and lead the league in shutouts, I'd imagine.

Also, Boston wins the "Best Hustle" award for Phil Kessel. Wow, it's almost like the season wasn't a total write off.

Fuck... I hate hockey.
