The NDS release is having a "new" boxartwork, it used to have a "snow/ice" theme but now it has the same artwork as the PS2 version... i guess it is more season neutral.

Here is a pic showing the realeases side by side:

Yeah, they started dropping the Play It name late last year when the likes of Super Fruit Fall and Pinball Hall of Fame got re-released. Your James Pond collection still brings such a smile to my face. :tpg: Did you hear Codemasters is planning to release the DS version in America? There's another one for you!

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 16, 2007 03:04 AM

I noticed the other day that Robocod is the only Genesis game sold by my local Roses that has no relation to football or basketball. For those who don't know, Roses is a really terrible Wal-Mart type of store. This one still had a coming soon banner for Starfox 64 up until about 2 years ago. :tpg:

Infernal Monkey Jun 16, 2007 03:58 AM

If only they'd kept it around, it could have made a tiny bit of sense when it was an upcoming title for the Virtual Console! There's a store in my area that still has a (full priced) crushed up copy of The Jungle Book for Game Boy sitting around, it's like a zombie that shuffles around the different shelves. Last I saw it was sitting next to Fuzion Frenzy 2. Where will it be next? A mystery!

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 16, 2007 04:26 AM

The first time I saw the banner was right before Starfox Assault came out. For a fleeting moment I thought they were miraculously up to date. Then I saw the part about a rumble pack being included. Top Gun was also placed on the New Movies shelf that day.

Haha, that reminds me of the stack of copies my Wal-Mart has of RISE of the Robots for Genesis. They're all hidden in the underworld area of the game shelves where unwanted games are tossed in along with consoles and other hardware. I've never gotten it price checked, but the stickers still say $60.

I haven't really given Odin Sphere the respect it deserves, I've been too busy with Dead Rising lately. The game is really good, although it's pretty repetitive. Go rescue someone. Drag them back and watch the AI shit itself. Or, kill zombies over and over.

Still it's pretty addictive, the psychopaths make it a unique challenge. Some pretty hard achievements in this game too.

Odin Sphere is obviously great, the japanese AND english voices are near perfectly fitting to their characters. Obviously the best game on the PS2 this year.

War Tech: Senko no Ronde is great, I'm really digging the art style and attacks. The melee side of things is clunky as hell but most of the game you're dodging bullets/running around so it's okay.

Kororinpa arrived a few days ago. Best game on the Wii so far. The box art KICKS ASS. But the game is pretty normal in difficulty level. Really unique game, I'd recommend buying it if you have a Wii. It's short (I heard 40 levels, but I haven't completed it to know) so I'm getting gold on each level before trying the next.

Ninety Nine Nights wins for the most slow paced button mashing game to ever exist. Don't worry, this was free. Apparently the English version sucks, but I dunno. Lots of enemies and not really that many ways to kill them. I love hack n slash, but even I can spot a boring game, and this is one of them.

PGR3's neat. Japanese version is in English with Japanese pop oh yeah. I guess Photoshop 2 (Forza 2) makes this game irrelevant, but it's still neat. Free game.

Press kit! 30 bux. Came with a demo which includes the intro, along with the game itself. The manual is actually fused into the cardboard box which is odd. There's also a towel with Devil Jin on it.

Oh yeah and this Japanese 360 for Blue Dragon and other.. exclusives I intend on buying.

Free is still too much. While mindless, the boss battles are totally fucking broken beyond all comprehension and are just stupid to the max. They actually get to the point where they wring out any other, albeit minor, enjoyment you may be getting out of the game and let it go down the shitter.

Not really. Forza's more about being technically proficient while PGR is more about style. It's hard to explain this difference unless you enjoy more than the casual racing game, but it's true. Also, PGR3's NA version has one of the best licensed soundtracks I've heard in a modern racer. Beats the pants off of Burnout/NFS/most others.

That (but I'm waiting on confirmation on if there's going to be an English release due to the recent gamerpics been added and the director saying he's interested in bringing it outside of Japan if other people are interested), Blue Dragon, Oneechanbara, Viva Pinata and a few others.

It depends on the game, there's a compatibility list on play-asia which is very useful. Games like the USA version of Dead Rising, Bullet Witch, etc, work with the Japanese 360.

Also, a lot of brand new NTSC/J "Asian" games are cheaper (about $40 each) and come in English. (ie. Oblivion, Viva Pinata, etc). Plus, the console itself was cheap, and now I don't have to worry about any future next-gen region locking.

Still undecided on Oneechanbara. Apparently it doesn't have the greatest gameplay in the world, but I'm still interested. I'm a sucker for zombies. The original Oneechanbara was fun, but then they went and removed Aya's special in Oneechan 2 as well as changing the blood from red to purple. I don't really know what improvements were invisible in the second game. :[

English release of idolm@ster? lol?

Anyway, it's been awhile since I've posted in this, but I haven't bought too many things.

I got Odin Sphere back when it came out and it's awesome, yadda yadda, beautiful, sprites, great voices, the works. All of my fanboying can be seen in the Odin Sphere thread.

More recently, as in a week ago, I traded in my old XBox and some DS games (cuz lol R4) and cleaned out my bank to get an XBox 360 Premium bundle. With it I also got Forza 2, and just this week I picked up a second controller, Gears of War, and Chromehounds. I'm glad Chromehounds was only $20, since I doubt I'd pay more for it. It feels like a slower, clunkier MechWarrior. Gears of War, however, is excellent, amazing, etc.. I'm on Act 4 in the casual Campaign. I probably would've finished it off had Tails not invited me to play online.

Forza 2 I'm also enjoying, despite how I was never really into racing sims before. Probably because I can play all the crappy eurobeat I want as I attempt to drift around corners and instead into walls.

So I discovered some magic at EB, they give a shitload of trade in value for retarded games. And not like '50 Cent Bulletproof' retarded. I noticed this the other day, when I saw a few Phoenix Games titles selling for $60 pre-owned. Basically every store EXCEPT EB stock these games, and their RRP is TEN DOLLARS. So EB were charging more for these lumps of death than a pre-owned copy of say, Gears of War. Eyebrow and penis raised, I went in today, swinging about my copies of PS2 GOTY London Cab Challenge and White Van Racer, which were bought for joke reviews/YouTube joke footage/joke jokes. Also a third Phoenix Games.. game that I bought earlier this year for mystery and suspense.

I got twenty five bucks each. I only paid $30 for the three 'games' in total.

LOOKS LIKE I WON, KNOB STORE.

Or maybe not, I used this free exciting Monopoly money to get Metal Slug (I like how the PS2 version is $40 and the Wii version is $80 oh wait) and KoF XI.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...mesjune003.jpg

Metal Slug's kinda dodgy. There's no 60Hz, and it's got a bloody MASSIVE border filling up nearly half the fucking screen. KoF XI's neat though, despite getting names wrong on the character selection screen. :gonk:

Picked up the less faggy Pokemon of the two (haha take that) with my rewards point.. voucher... thing at Game. So it was only half-price~
This is the first Pokemon game I'll have played since the original! NOT COUNTING POKEMON CHANNEL AND SNAP THEY ARE MY FRIENDS. LOOK SOME SEGA GAMES. So basically next time I get money I'm going to buy a wheelbarrow full of Phoenix Games' shit and trade them in towards a speed boat.

You fucking take that back.

It's bad enough everyone thinks the game will be released with English songs, but I very highly doubt that the iDOLM@STER Gamerpics being released shortly after the director saying he wanted to bring the game out in English "if there was enough interest" was merely a coincidence.

Even if it does get released with English songs, EBA did this and it was a pretty good game.

At least three of them are probably guys too. Just like

Spice World was so disappointing, because it was announced that Geri left the Spice Girls just weeks before the games PAL release. I still bought it (it was like, $20 US brand new? Which was really cheap for over here) and it sucked balls, you couldn't string together a song, it was just a bunch of bullshit.

Oh but it came with a 10 minute exclusive interview. ^5

Freelance Jun 21, 2007 12:08 PM

My sister, who was unusually nice and kind, gave me some cash and told me to buy some PSP games. She didn't give me much cash, so I went to HMV downtown because they sell some cheapo games in a bin. Low and behold, I could buy two games, wheee...

I picked up Astonishia Story, and Rapala Trophies. Reviewers gave AS crappy scores and I can see why. All the enemies right at the beginning of the game are much stronger than you, and there are at least 3 to 4 of them and only 1 of you. Oh well, it's nothing a little power levelling won't fix. The sprites are quite nice and detailed though. It reminds me of FFVI's sprite animations. The dialogue is funny sometimes too, like the guy with the healing fist. It also pokes fun at the modern world, like the large headed man pestering the hero to provide a password in his fight against piracy and a waiter stating how nobody ever goes to the bar for a drink anymore because of the internet and other online services. Some design issues are really weird though. It doesn't explain why, for example, the hero suddenly decides to remove all his armour and leaves them there. I don't know why either!

I haven't played the other game yet. I normally wouldn't touch a fishing game, but this one looks pretty neat and seems to be quite varied, with over 100 locales and bait and crap. Plus, I'd like to play something nice and relaxing, so a fishing game would be right up my alley. Who knows, it could be addicting. Take a look at Harvest Moon!

Update: I played the fishing game, and it's cool! I caught 2 20 inch rainbow trout!

Regained my copies of the first three Ratchet & Clank games, officially closing the search for like-new used copies by purchasing the first game tonight.

I had to help with an inventory at another store as well this evening, and stumbled upon the rare copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the PS2. Even more rare -- it had the instruction booklet and the disc was in great condition.

Chaotic Jun 26, 2007 08:30 PM

Whee! Bought Pokemon Battle Revolution. The game looks amazing in comparison to the previous games. I'm pleasantly surprised with it.

Although, playing through it, I feel most reviewers are going to agree that nothing has really changed in the series.

There's also a serious lack of mini-games. But Wi-Fi Battling is a nice touch.

I traded in my BIG DAMN TRUCKS! for Resident Evil 4 for Wii. Played about an hour and a half so far. The graphics/sound are good. I like the controls, but the over-the-shoulder view makes things really claustrophobic and I'm not sure I like that to be honest. Still, with the trade it was only $15 so it was a good buy. :D

Edit: I was up until 4am playing RE4. I haven't been that drawn-in by a game for as long as I can remember. Good thing I didn't start it in the morning or I would have played it straight through...

Hi! Haven't posted in this thread for a while, so I'll update. I haven't got too many new games since I've been out. Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 ended up arriving AFTER I got back from the Philippines. ;_; I have 4 more songs to do, and then I'm done with the game I guess, currently on that AI song on the girl cheer squad difficulty. It's <3 as usual.

I did end up getting Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, and it's pretty fun, but it doesn't hold my attention too long. The pace is kinda slow, but it is addictive. I'd usually just do a battle or two and set it aside for a week. =/

Mario Party 8. <3 I've been partying like a rock star for the last 3 weeks. Totally dude. Toadette ftw. Ohhh, I should bring back my Toadette av/sig set from last year. ^^

Super Monkey Ball for GameCube. ^^ It was only $5 new, so I got it. I only got to play it once during high school, but I kinda got it now more just to collect. Maybe I'll listen to the porn music in-game or something sometime.

K, that's all. Bye.

Chaotic Jul 6, 2007 04:23 PM

Etrian Odyssey. Woot. I need something to save my sanity when I'm down in south Jersey overnight. My aunt's weekend home is probably the most boring place in existence and I'd figure I should let this game drive me insane rather the place itself...

I do have my Wii, but whatever.

Oh yes they finally came out here. ='D Now just waiting on a Global Defence Force date. We'll go to the movies. Kill some bugs. I had to order these online because whoever the local distributor is, they don't do a very good job! I may have already destroyed Zombie Virus. ;_; Like five minutes into playing it I accidently yanked my controller trying to get comfy, causing the PS2 to fall off the shelf and dangle about. Now there's a huge circle scratch on the disc, but.. it seems to still play! STUPIDITY VIRUS. Oddly, Zombie Hunters brings up a 505 GameStreet logo before the title screen. I guess once D3 Europe decided to start releasing these they pushed 505 off a cliff but didn't have time to remove it from the game. That and the title screen calls it "Zombie Zone: The Other Side". BUT THE BOX SAYS ZOMBIE HUNTERS.

I can't wait to review these! :3:
