Wait wait wait, why don't we get River City Ransom?

In fact, why are we consistently being boned out of VC games? Is it because they know that with one Wii Ware game, our system will be full, then forcing us to store crap on SD cards, thus adding time to moving the game over and making us not want to play it?

Fuck.

Megalith Feb 24, 2008 01:20 AM

How the fuck is an N64 game $10 on VC when a PS1 game is $5.99 on PSN.

Alright, Kirby 64! That launched around the time I was too busy scraping together fun bucks for a PS2, and Nintendo released like eight copies across the country, several hidden in their company cars (station wagon) glove box. So I never got to play it. :(

Because Ultra 64's technology is the very same used to render the dinosaurs in the upcoming Jurassic Park movie, and if it launched right now it would cost the consumer eighty billion dollars to even look at the box. NASA is also providing technical help to keep the system from launching into outta space. Killer Instinct and Cruis'n USA are powered by SILICON GRAPHICS and you can't expect that sort of virtual reality to come cheap.

Also Lukage guess what I was playing on my Wii earlier fuck yeah that's right River City Ransom IAHUJAHUUHAUHAUHUHAUHAUHHUAHUAHUA it's so good, sometimes I tongue the TV screen.

FatsDomino Feb 24, 2008 12:25 PM

I once bought a Dreamcast just for playing River City Ransom. Easiest homebrew system ever. Homebrew for River City Ransom.

loooool time to buy Kirby 64 yet again and not play it because of *distractions*.

Lukage Feb 24, 2008 05:46 PM

If Australia gets Duck Tales first, heads will roll.

wvlfpvp Feb 24, 2008 06:58 PM

They probably aren't going to release Duck Tales at all.

If they fucking DO they'd better release Mother, cuz, you know, better game and all.

SuperSonic Feb 24, 2008 11:49 PM

So we've gone down to two games per week on the Virtual Console. Am I the only one seeing something wrong with this? At least the quality has gone up from the games because now I'm hearing titles and mascots I'm familiar with each week.

That might be Sony's apology for overpricing the PS3. XD Hell, Sonic 2 was cheaper on the 360 than it was on VC. People will still buy the game on the VC even if it's overpriced. It's stupid, but hey I'm right there with them. I bought Mario 64 on N64, DS, and Wii and collected all the stars in all of them.

Plus some of those games are hard to come by legally.

Lukage Feb 25, 2008 07:23 AM

Well they had 2 weeks in a row just a little while back where they only released one game a week.

The guys porting the games must be running out of room on their Wii and SD cards. Slow goings~ =[

Nintendonomicon Feb 25, 2008 02:50 PM

This just in.

Super Fantasy Zone and Pengo, both for the Genesis, have been rated by the ESRB for their american release.

Lukage Mar 3, 2008 02:41 PM

Back to one game a week.

Super Turrican.

Okay seriously Nintendo. Fuck you. Yes, good music, but regardless, that's only one game.

SuperSonic Mar 3, 2008 04:38 PM

You'd think they would've at least released Super Smash Bros. as a promotion for Brawl. Also, have all of the masterpiece demos on Brawl been released on the VC? If not, then there's your VC release list for next Monday.

FatsDomino Mar 3, 2008 04:48 PM

They better fucking have Earthbound in the Masterpiece demos in Brawl.

No clue what that is, so I guess the answer is no.

Also we learned that when a new game comes out (Metroid, Mario, etc.) on the Wii, they don't link the concept to a VC release, so don't count on the N64 game being available.

QFT.

That or Mother.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Mar 3, 2008 06:02 PM

Which, if reports from people who have the US version early are any indication, isn't the case.

Wether or not they're unlockables in Brawl remains to be seen, but it appears that more than a few people have said it's not there.

Of course, this is hardcore rumour time with no reputable source, but that's the early word.

That's not really true at all. When Metroid Prime 3 was released they declared Metroid month with the first monday releasing Metroid on the VC, Super Metroid the next week, and then Prime 3 coming out the following week. So they link it sometimes.

It's going to be incredibly lame if Earthbound isn't one of the masterpiece demos in Brawl. You can't claim a feature is to familiarize people with the games the characters are from and then not have one for Ness, considering how few people knew him before Smash Bros.

Buizel Mar 3, 2008 07:04 PM

Sadly I won't be surprise if it ISN'T in the US version because... you know... Nintendo is an ass... sometimes.

Yeah, some Masterpiece needs to be "unlock" first so you can "try it out".

trackjacket Mar 3, 2008 08:01 PM

For whatever reason, NOA's been intent on completely disassociating themselves with the Mother franchise. So, I wouldn't be surprised if whoever makes these decisions told Treehouse (NOA's localization department) to nix the Mother/Mother 2 masterpieces (do both of them show up in the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl?).

You can start playing Mother 2 without unlocking anything from the beginning. The demo gives you 5 minutes to play but the intro waste about 2 minutes of it. I'm not sure about Mother (1) yet.

trackjacket Mar 4, 2008 03:56 PM

Ah, thanks. Five minutes is a tiny amount of time to begin playing Mother 2. Can you even make it to the meteor site in that short of a time span?

Buizel Mar 5, 2008 10:54 PM

If you skip the chitchat then yes...

For a game like Mother2/Earthbound, it would be better if they do it more like a "level demo" instead of a time demo. You could finish a section of the game to get a feeling of it instead of a screen pops up saying, "Time's up! Buy this game! plzkthx".

FatsDomino Mar 5, 2008 11:18 PM

Yeah, I fucking hated that. I was in the middle of a level when playing Yoshi's Island in-store way back in the day and it just reset on me. I wasn't very happy but of course I'd played enough of the game to say oh god I need this like right now. And then I went and got it. But yeah timed demos suck. I say they only ought to automatically reset the demo if after a minute or two of inactivity. Otherwise the demo shouldn't end until you get to the actual end of the demo. That's how in-store demos should be done.

Nintendonomicon Mar 10, 2008 01:54 AM

Import monday!
March 10th will see the release of DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure and Puyo Puyo 2 on the American Virtual Console. The voices tell me neither were released outside of Japan.

Hey sup Infernal. How you doin'.

I really want Kirby Super Star but with the DS remake it's never gonna happen. I wonder if I should buy Kirby 64 VC so I can actually beat it while I'm away from m N64.
