This troll needs to be put down. It's getting out of control.

My Ranked Stats vs Crunchy:

As you can see my ranked stats aren't impressive but i've only played 25 games. Crunchy conveniently omitted my social which i play mostly.

http://www.belkanairforce.com/devo/H...auceranked.jpg

Calculations:

Due to my social being better and his ranked being better i did some calculations.

Sniper kills per game (ranked and social): me = 3.33 crunchy = 2.25
Shotgun kills per game (ranked and social): me = .716 crunchy = 1.2

I will admit to letting Tails have shotgun ;). I did this to be fair but really Crunchy don't fucking wave your e-peen at me and conveniently ignore other stats. Can I tell you that you haven't mastered sniper now? Seriously stop trolling people.

Yeah, that pretty much does it for that argument.

Tube Oct 8, 2007 10:45 PM

Arguing that lag doesn't exist, lmao. Has there ever been a more pointless argument with a more obvious conclusion. Welcome to this planet called Earth.

Team Sharpshooter out.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Oct 9, 2007 03:36 AM

Tube summed that up nicely, this is a pointless discussion. I'd appreciate it, Nachos, if you'd keep quiet until you have something decent to say. Otherwise I'll have no choice but to remove you from this thread.

A new update regarding matchmaking. And great news I say. 8 a-side BTB could be very cool and, of course, the reduction in Shitty Snipers is music to mine ears.

Halo 3's Matchmaking Playlists, just like Halo 2's, are dynamic and ever-changing entities. Even now in the perilous Bungie towers, we're looking at new hoppers, gametypes and modes to test for future iterations and changes of these playlists. Multiplayer Lead Tyson Green and test wunderkind David Gasca sent the following list of changes to us -- and these changes are live now:

* Big Team Battle matches are now 16-player affairs.
* In the Team Slayer playlist, the appearance of Shotty Snipers has been greatly reduced.
* Now, when players veto Shotty Snipers, the game that results from the veto will not be Shotty Snipers.
* In one-sided VIP matches, the attacking team will now see a waypoint for the VIP they are hunting.
* In Lone Wolves, Slayer gametypes will appear more frequently.

I don't remember if I've ever seen that happen before, but it must have been fucking hilarious.

"Shotty snipers man veto this shit!"
::shotty snipers again::
"AW WHAT"

16 man BTB is great though. Now we can go into GFF games with 8 instead of trying to cap off our people at 6, or being stuck at 7.

This has happened to me about three times, always resulting in half the group disconnecting and the other half either laughing or whining.

But you're right. Full GFF parties is nice. Didn't take them all that long to fully update this stuff either. I figured we'd be waiting a little while longer. Awesome.

That has happened to me several times in the short time that I've played Team Slayer. We'd veto Shotty Snipers on whatever map, then the same gametype would appear on another map. Then a few minutes into the game, someone on the other team quits because they don't like the gametype.

The only thing I do not like about this game is that its all about weapon control. If you dont have the good weapons, youre done. Unless your playing custom games w/ certain weapon start of course. Its like if you get into a fight before getting a good weapon its just spray n' pray all the way, I hate that.

This is why I enjoyed halo1 multiplayer the most because everybody started out with the best weapon and was about powerup control which everyone knew the exact second when it would spawn instead which made things less random.

Just my $0.02

Perosnally I think the assault rifle is pretty awesome. Depends what style of gunfight you're involved in. The shotgun is awesome for ultra-close range skirmishes, but you'll get your arse handed to you if you try to take on someone with an AR with any distance between you. Similarly the battle rifle is brilliant for mid to long range attacks, but you get too close to someone with an AR and they can take advantage of its rate of fire. It's not about weapon control, it's about controlling your weapon.

There's a phrase about poor workmen and tools that comes to mind.

xiaowei Oct 10, 2007 08:29 AM

The AR is pretty much a great weapon to start out with. A full clip can take someone down and at worst, you can knock out their shields and use nades or hope you're close for that beatdown. I mean, it's a lot better than pistol/health whoring in Halo 1.

Has anyone noticed the matchmaking is a bit fucked up? I was playing on my friend's account and he's a Sarge Grade 2. People join and it ends up being like three Majors, one Commander, and mostly Lieutenants on one team and me and Privates on the other team. And of course we get pwned, because the three majors are clanmates/friends and the commander is just plain good.

Shotty Sniper is more fun in social. It really sucks for ranked, because everyone's hoping for luck to be on their side. One of my suitemates has a pretty hot hand with a no-scoped sniper rifle, but he practices with it a lot, so I guess that's kind of an exception.

I've actually trumped people who had an AR close range with a BR and had the same done to me, depends on how good the users aim is sometimes. Especially if you backpedal while the other person charges, keeping them out of melee range.

Either way, yeah, completely agreeing with Devo here. Have to know what weapon is right for the situation.

.

If someone is health whoring then that means your not killing them when you got the chance. The pistol could kill someone in less than a second if you used it properly making no time to think and killing them, but with the AR starting weapon if u see someone mid-far range you cant do shit but throw nades at best. Thats stupid to me. And the beat down that homes in is retarded. Why did they make it so they dont even have to try and aim it?

Not true, if they have the shotty, BR, Rocket, mauler, sniper, alien sniper, and you spawn and go look for a good weapon because thats what you need unless you just catch someone already in a firefight. Plus im talkin about if all the people are playing are good, and if you have the AR, chances are your not killin anyone if they have the good weapons.

Another thing about 2 and 3 is the radar. Takes alot of the fun out of it really. Cant even get rewarded for sneaking up on somebody because of the radar. Back when you played halo1 online thru xbc, if you used radar you were considered a noob.

But anyway, anybody that didnt play halo1 competitively would not understand what im talking about because they staretd out playing other people online with halo2.

russ Oct 10, 2007 05:18 PM

If you crouch walk then you don't show up on the radar.

This guy is actually 100% correct right here. The radar behaves the same in all 3 games, but in 2 and 3 it has become more accepted for use than in 1. I also played a lot of Halo 1 online and the radar was rarely used. It is a lot more fun, in my opinion, and a lot better show of skill to be able to track and kill opponents using your other senses than by turning half your brain off in favor of the radar. Crouching to avoid it is just boring, I'd rather it simply not exist.

However:

This situation isn't even possible unless you're playing in a custom game with really retarded weapon spawns. Disregarding that, if this does become the case in your game, it is most likely a result of having a terrible team with awful communication/planning, since you can usually at least count on getting half of the map's power weapons across your team members. Even given that, you can still work on regaining control by using the more secluded sides and corridors of the map rather than going out in the open and becoming an obvious target.

OmagnusPrime Oct 10, 2007 06:14 PM

Thing is, everyone has radar so it evens out. I agree it'd be better without it, make sneaking up actually possible without crouching nonsense. However, as Tube said, only way you're going to end up with such a one-sided affair with repsect to weapons is if the game is a one-sided affair (i.e. your team is shit). I've been on plenty of teams where we've mounted comebacks simply by working well together, some of those against teams that had managed to get hold of a lot of the 'power' weapons, as you call them. I still believe it's possible to take someone on in pretty much any situation provided you use your current weapons (be that AR, BR, shotgun, carbine or anything else) and the environment appropriately.

Devo: Yeah it'd be nice if on the big maps you all got BRs, but at least they have a fair few of them near the spawn points (Valhalla has like 4/5 in each base and a couple just outside).

Also, unknown: Don't try and act all superior and patronising just because you played Halo 1 multiplayer or whatever the fuck you've done. Big fucking whoop.

Kagosin Oct 11, 2007 02:02 AM

What I don't get is what's with the attitude of people all on here thinking they know more than others? :gonk:

Seems fair, you did play Halo 1 competitively after all.
