Damn me and my lazyness. Well I guess all I can do is get my camping gear ready for the 18th. Now, I've never gotten a system at launch. I would hold out for xmas and get it as a gift.(save money). But I GOTTA have a Wii as soon as I can. My question is, at walmart (who are normally open 24/7) Do you wait outside? Or line up infront of the electronic department?

Don't most stores let you cancel a preorder whenever you want? I've never heard of them refusing to refund money (or at least give back credit) on preorders, even if it's on the day you're supposed to pick it up. I mean if they let a guy transfer 8 Red Steel preorders into a Wii preorder I don't think they'd give any trouble removing an Excitetruck...

Wall Feces Oct 14, 2006 12:31 AM

They didn't have trouble, because I went in there and did it no problem. I just wanted to get it done, that's all.

I do believe it's line up at the electronic department. For the 360 launch, I called a walmart the night before and was told that someone started waiting around ten hours before they went on sale.

I wasn't about to wait for very long, so I ended up getting my 360 a few weeks after launch. Today though, I was lucky enough to get a Wiiorder. :)

DarthSavior Oct 14, 2006 05:57 AM

Well. Good thing I took advantage of Gamestop's trade-in promotion for a Wii preorder in Hawaii a few weeks ago. I can sit comfortably until release day. ^_^

Max POWER Oct 14, 2006 06:49 AM

I got to my local EB at 6:30 in the morning, and was the fourth in line. Actually, the four of us were the only ones there until 8:30, when the line exploded. By that time, we already had our tickets, so we all went on a nerdy adventure to get some food.

Whee (wii?)!! At least I'm guaranteed one at launch.

ramoth Oct 15, 2006 08:53 AM

I waltzed in at just before 4pm and was #24 in line at my local Gamestop. It's nice living in Hawaii sometimes ;)

Yeah, I'll be doing that too. The nicer thing is that the Wii is coming out on a Sunday, so no one has to miss work or school or anything like that.

Miles Oct 15, 2006 01:57 PM

Which also means more people will most likely be willing to line up for one (like moms and dads). :333

The_Griffin Oct 15, 2006 04:22 PM

Hah, my sister and brother-in-law are preordering two Wiis when they get back from China (one for them and one for me).

I get mine for free. :D

True, but after the debacle that was the 360 launch...I don't want EB Games calling me the week before launch telling me that I don't get mine on launch day unless I order $100 more shit.

Helloween Oct 15, 2006 07:41 PM

I'm realizing now that i'm going to have avoid this particular forum for a while after launch, until i get my Wii. I don't want anyone ruining anything, and i mean ANYTHING, for me. I'm super anal about that sort of thing. I don't even watch the scenes from the next episode of Lost after each episode. I'm gonna feel weird hearing about how awesome it is, and how it handles, or how crappy it turns out to be until i get my own.

Man, it'll be weird not coming here anymore.

Grubdog Oct 15, 2006 09:16 PM

Heh yeah, I'm gonna be avoiding the media for 3 weeks until it's released in Aus.

Darkcomet72 Oct 15, 2006 09:35 PM

I know where you guys are coming from, and it's one of the reasons I decided to get it on launch.

I also didn't preorder, for the sole purpose of camping out. Camping is usually an experience, but for this console specifically, it's going to be a blast, as I'm sure there will be many, MANY more DS users then there were for the X360 campouts.

Helloween Oct 15, 2006 09:43 PM

I wish i had a throng of DS toting friends who would camp out with me. If there were more than no one who would be willing to camp out with me, i might consider doing it just for the expirience.

Lukage Oct 15, 2006 11:26 PM

Having no DS at the Pre-Order line was my problem. I've got a month to buy one (Yay, Wii is paid for)

If you were planning on heading down to your local GameStop location to do a little in-store pre-order of a Nintendo Wii, you can sit your ass back down. The pre-order, which began on Friday, October 13, 2006, ended the very same day.

GameStop and EB Games stores began accepting limited pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii console on Friday, October 13, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely high demand and limited availability, most stores reached their pre-order limit within minutes. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $50 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

The store’s site recommends you sign up to receive email alerts and newsletters to keep up with launch details.

Damn. Does this mean it is now impossible to get one at launch date? Or will those of us who do not have pre-orders be able to pick up one at the same time?

If I had known it was this crazy, I would have gotten my friend to pre-order one for me. >.<

Slayer X Oct 16, 2006 05:28 PM

There's some 4 million units coming western shores so I don't thing that EB would have sold out already. I think that they're just playing it cautious after what happened with the 360 launch. Give it some time and don't be surprised if EB & GameStop call a second round of pre-books before the two systems launch.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Oct 16, 2006 08:30 PM

They are sold out across the city up here, Slayer. All the EBs are compeltely sold out of Wiis, and it only took about 10 minteus for that to happen. Line ups at EVERY EB in the city.

My experiences in my line up.

Holy frozen hell!

It's been nice and cold up here in Minnesota, and I can only imagine the frigid temperatures you had to suffer through for that preorder in the more extreme north. Cars idling with heat blasting FTW. Is a Wii preorder that worth it...

Heeeell yeah!

K_ Takahashi Oct 17, 2006 02:16 PM

I had no clue the preorders happened and needless to say I was rather pissed, but, being the spammer I am I might as well take the guy at GS's advice and call EVERY DAY. So I wonder if I will see a few at a Walmart and "hey! this shouldnt be here!"

or not.

nevertheless. I preordered my games (might as well get that out of the way).

This is why I need the internet at my house.

majario Oct 17, 2006 02:50 PM

I just saw yesterday on the walmart and amazon.com website they are going to be taking preorders for the Wii soon as well as the PS3. On both websites they have it so you can have an email sent to you the day they do start taking preorders.

Cobra Commander Oct 17, 2006 03:33 PM

Anyone know if there is a list posted of all the old games you can purchase for the Wii?

K_ Takahashi Oct 17, 2006 03:48 PM

If I cant get a pre-order in do you think that places like (say) a Best Buy (or any other store that sells games 'n shit will have any at launch?(anyone that works at any one of those places can confirm this).
