wowowoowowowow JESUS seriously I swear to God the last episode was BOMBASTIC. I am not even lying, I've watched it three times already, I dunno whether the guys responsible for this awesome show are on drugs or something like that but this is getting more and more awesome!! (yeah okay some 24 reference in the last episode, but oh well)

If you don't know this show yet, do me a favor: get all 20 episodes and watch them this weekend. It's not too late to join yet ;)

Drex May 7, 2007 11:31 AM

I've indoctrinated about 20 or so people - we had two marathon nights where we watched the first 20+ episodes, and now we have a weekly Heroes party that's attended by around 15 people. I can't wait for tonight's episode - but I have a prior commitment during the show, so I'll have to catch it online. :/

Sousuke May 7, 2007 04:16 PM

The latest episode was really good, and I've watched it a couple times, but I have to say... the way they portrayed time travel is a little... well, off.

Don't get me wrong, I love Heroes, but I have to pick at this a little:
Spoiler:
Future Hiro says that Hiro kills Sylar, according to the comic. So why isn't he dead? The way they're trying to put it across is that nothing happens during the five years they 'skipped'. They were in the future and Sylar was alive, so obviously he didn't kill Sylar, though everything states he did.

AHHHH my head hurts.

It's a little hard to wrap my mind around what I'm trying to say, but I hope I got my point across. :eagletear:

Shonos May 7, 2007 05:04 PM

Um, future Hiro says that he TRIED to kill Sylar but could not because he just regened. That's why he went back to have the cheerleader saved.

I think the reason so many are confusing themselves is because to future Hiro nothing has changed. He just got back to the future in that episode and has not noticed anything yet. But it DID change, just slightly thanks to him changing the past by having claire saved. So Future Hiro is stating things that he knows based on his experiences of the old timeline but the new timeline contradicts him because things changed slightly.

Timeline 1 : Sylar is the bomb, Hiro tries to kill him but Sylar regens. Hiro tracks all the major events and decides that to change the way things are he must go back and save the cheerleader. Then Sylar can be killed.

Hiro goes back to the past and the cheerleader is saved.

Timeline 2: Future Hiro has just returned but finds out nothing has changed to him. But things have changed. Peter is the bomb, Hiro never tried to kill Sylar, Claire is alive and her death was faked. When Peter went boom it was blamed on Sylar by Nathan.

Timeline 3: What will happen in the following episodes if Sylar and the bomb is stopped. But who knows if it can really be stopped.

Sousuke May 7, 2007 05:24 PM

No, I mean that Future Hiro said [and the comic says] that Present Hiro kills Sylar, or is supposed to.

Anyway, it makes way more sense if you look at is as being different timelines, and not as actual time travel. About Sylar being the bomb... We know that he never was, it was Peter all along. Saying it was Sylar was just a cover up to protect Peter. [Though, it's possible that Future Hiro is from a different timeline where Sylar WAS the bomb, we'll never know.]

I don't know, time travel has always been a really confusing thing to grasp. :P I guess we'll find out what happens tonight, and next week. I hope so, anyway.

Kairi Li May 7, 2007 05:33 PM

Last episode was epic, no question.

Can't wait for the next episode coming in a few hours.

Also if you guys wanna check out info leaked through the 360 experience and Hiro's blog, but don't wanna go through all the stuff that you need to do, or check the archives of what was posted in the 360 thing, then check it out here.

http://heroeswiki.com/Main_Page

I remember that dream Peter had before the haitus? Could it be a warning that the timeline was changed and he BECAME the bomb? Or was it always Peter all along no matter what timeline?

Um, Sylar was the bomb. Again, it changed to Peter being the bomb after Claire was saved.

Look, it's simple to confirm this too. There wouldn't of been a painting of Hiro stabbing a sword through Sylar or the comic showing Sylar still going off after Hiro stabs him if Sylar wasn't the bomb originally.

If Sylar wasn't the bomb then Hiro never had a reason to go back and save Claire. Sylar WAS the bomb, then Hiro went back and changed the future by having Claire saved. But Hiro was never changed with it. The future changed in a way Hiro didn't expect. Hiro is not from another timeline, he just didn't change with it.

The comic says Hiro tried to kill Sylar when he was going nuclear but failed. Why did he fail? Because Sylar regened after the attack. So Hiro goes back into the past and tells Peter to save Claire. Hiro then returns to the future and finds nothing has changed to him. That's all the comic says. Then when you watch the show it tells you things have changed, claire is alive, peter is the bomb instead, and sylar was blamed for it. But Hiro doesn't know this because he just got back and wasn't changed along with the timeline.

Jochie May 7, 2007 06:48 PM

Thanks for explaining that. I didn't quite get it while watching, either. I want to turn my geeky, sci-fi-watching brain parts back on for this show, but I've been hurt so many times before, I just . . . . Does this show really still make sense? TV can still do that?

I'll pay attention tonight. Now I'm all excited about my pretty heroes.

Sousuke May 7, 2007 10:14 PM

Shonos, your explanation is confusing, yet very real at the same time. XD

Like I said, time travel's a really confusing thing, but I get your point. It makes sense... so far.

Turbo May 8, 2007 12:36 AM

Might be a spoiler for some of you, so I'll just hide it

Spoiler:
That little girl, Molly.. She's the kid from the second episode, that the cop finds hiding in the closet. Remember she was afraid, because she saw her parents get murdered in the way Sylar kills? She told suresh about the boogyman, who eats brains.. Its the same kid. She's the one parkman found.

In terms of scale, after last weeks episode, this one may feel a bit more dryer, but it doesn't make it less interesting.

Spoiler:
The creators were right, our veiws do kinda go more sympathetic now that we know why Sylar became who he is, bad parenting. It alwass seem to be the start of the alot of problems doesn't it? People need to think twice before having kids, or else they might screw up bad and raise a Syler.

So we finally know Molly's powers, though alot of fans seem to have caught on long before. What are Matt and Bennett gonna do when the device is an innocent little girl?

Nathan Nathan... Please don't tell me just cause Momma tells you to do something you go and do it! I stil find it hard to believe in order to achive "paradise" innocent lives must he sacrificed, and using the Hiroshima bomb to pull strings too, isnt the point of learning history is so we learn to NOT repeat it?!

And now Claire may have to lose even more innoncence, as if her life wasn't screwed up enough already. But at least she got to see Daddy Bennett one more time.

And Hiro shows his reluctance to become what he will be in 5 years time... I'm impressed with what Masi Oka did with both his future self and present, they're the same and yet completly different in attitudes. Though it looks like the timeline has changed, considering the sword is broken... But Sylar still see the vision that HE explodes... Argh headache...

Interesting that we get to see more of Candance's powers. Poor Micah... trapped... I hope nothing happens to him, I hate to see this character ending up on the "loving memory" list, especially since we haven't even see more development to his character and his powers.

Niki and Jess need to figure out who's in control, cause sometimes I dunno anymore. Jess also needs to figure out if shes an out of control killer or just a character who is calculating and is in control. One moment shes kicking everyone asses in the most brutal way, next time she's more civil?

Overall, this is shaping up to be something awesome!

The Furious One May 9, 2007 07:13 AM

Last weeks episode was by far my favourite episode. Hiro travels to the future mets himself. Everyone has changed so much. Cant wait for next week!!

Hiro better grow some cajones in the next episode, after what he did this week

Agreed.

Spoiler:
Man, so much going on, and the lines between good/bad/indifferent are so blurred now. Which way is up? Who's good? What's right? I have a feeling we won't really come to a conclusion about that until the season is done. And even then, I have my doubts.

Linderman and Mrs. Petrelli obviously think they're doing something for the good of the future - the only way I'll completely buy that take is if Mrs. Petrelli can see the future - which would explain why Peter had the vision he did, and where he got the power from. Sylar's past comes into focus and we see that his mom (Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors, that was weird) shaped a lot of what he became. He's still a sicko, though, and I'm interested to see what they do with him.

I was torn whether Micah was being brought in to rig the election or to make sure the tracking system stayed in place, but now that we know that the tracking system is Molly/Mollie/whatever, it looks like he gets to rig the election. And how DL and NikiJessica will play into that will be interesting - NikiJessica knows Nathan, but does she know that he's working with Linderman now? And will that affect whether she decides to let Micah take part?

I'm a bit peeved by the Peter blowing up bit, though. Ted had to work to get his powers to the level they're at - does that mean that Peter absorbs the strength of the powers at the time of contact, too? And if so, why doesn't he absorb the control? It's kinda weird. At any rate, I'll be interested to see how Claire's role in that plays out. And taking Peter's vision of the future into account, everyone's there (though not in the right clothes) except for Isaac and Simone. Don't know if that factors in at all. Plus, where's invisible guy (I forgot his name)? We assume he ran off, but he's a possible additional piece. We know that he punched Peter out when he went into freakout mode before. It would be poetic to have him materialize there at the beginning of the next episode and clock Peter again. He'd be able to talk to Mr. Bennet, then, too.

Lastly, Mohinder's involvement is interesting to me. Now he's helping the company because he thinks he's helping himself, but where will that end him up? And how much of Suresh's formula and list were formed by Chandi or whatever her name is? (EDIT: nevermind, the disease is the same, but it's not necessarily fair to believe that the powers were the same. Too unsure on it.)

Anyway. I've only had 12 hours to process things (and half of that was spent sleeping), so I'll probably be even more curious before the next episode comes along.

I completely disagree. Future Hiro was in the future when he stabbed Sylar, which is all that matters. Beyond that, to think that he wouldn't be effected by the changes because he wasn't in the future "when they happened" shows a total lack of understanding of how this brand of time travel works. Honestly, if this is what the creators intended, I quit. Well, probably not. XD

I think the only logical conclusion we can draw is that Peter uses Candice's power to make Hiro (and everyone else) think he's Sylar. They're not just going to blame Sylar, they're going to frame him.

Hadn't Peter met Isaac before? o_O Granted, I didn't even remember Molly from way back when, but I'm pretty sure the two had met before Peter's first vision. Anyway, I totally thought that was Audrey, but I wasn't sure until you said it. Must've been the hair.

After reading your comment, your totally right.

I even went back to that episode to check and low and behold you were correct, this show is really turning out to be something else.

Spoiler:
Yeah, I caught that pretty quick - just with the way that the storyline has always played out, as soon as it was a little girl, it had to be that little girl.

My assumption had always been that Peter causes the explosion in an attempt to kill Sylar. In an act of desperation he decides that the sacrifice of thousands of New Yorkers is worth ensuring that Sylar is destroyed. That's not to say that's even close to what happens, but it seems unlikely that Peter would frame Sylar for the explosion.

It seems like seeing the future in vision and painting the future are distinctly different, though. I could be wrong, but it seems separate to me.

I agree with the prediction/feeling on Peter blowing up Sylar - but because I agree, and it seems logical, I'm guessing that it's wrong. :P Although I completely called the solution to Molly's problems as soon as Mohinder became involved.

Possible spoilers for the next episode, Landslide:
Spoiler:
- Guessing from the episode's title, we see how Nathan wins the election.
- It's been stated that the last three episodes show all the heroes coming together in New York, and Landslide is the third to last episode.
- Adrian Pasdar (Mohinder) has blurbed that the 22nd episode (Landslide) will show how his father actually died.
- We may find out how Sylar actually steals powers from others (brain-eating?).

Source: http://heroeswiki.com/Spoiler:Landslide

That last one I REALY want to know, because it's been bugging me since the first time he "brain-ate", I suppose.

Sousuke May 9, 2007 01:52 PM

I was sleeping, and all the sudden I woke up, sat straight up in bed, and said: 'Shit!'

It took me a while, but I had just made a connection: Bennet spoke of the "Walker Tracking System". That would be the girl, Molly. He recruited Mohinder to 'fix' her, and now she'll be able to tell Star Trek guy [Primatech paper guy, he reminds me of someone from ST, and I don't know his name] where ANY of them are.

He'll not only use her to find Sylar, but probably Claire, Bennet, and the others too. Damn. And I'm sure Bennet doesn't know that the 'tracking system' is a little girl... What's he gonna do to 'take it out'? Shit's gonna hit the fan, and soon.

That guy is actually famous for his role as a villain called The Master in the old Doctor Who. Well, famous among fans of the show at least. Doctor Who fans were pretty happy seeing him and Christopher Eccleston (Claude) together since he played the ninth Doctor that revived the series a few years ago.

I don't think it'll be all that dramatic when they discover the tracking system is a little girl. At least not in the sense of whether or not they plan to kill her. Wasn't she one of the people Future Bennet said he'd placed in his protection program?

Didn't his protection program consist of the people he'd actually turned over to the government, i.e., the people with dangerous abilities?

Well... The people on the list that Future Hiro gave Bennet were all dead. We don't know about Molly, but D.L. and Candace both had to be dead since Sylar had their powers. But yes, she WAS on the list.

Drex May 9, 2007 06:11 PM

If Sylar got her power, it'd be game over. He obviously didn't in the future, or he'd have found Claire long before.

And the people he hid were people who had powers but weren't big threats to public safety, I think.
