If anyone's mourning the fact that Shinobido: Tales of the Ninja didn't cop a North American release, please don't - it's a crock of unplayable shit. Might I suggest M.A.C.H, which is ridiculous fun. Racing jets, people. Racing JETS.

yeah i was ready the hell out of the max console forums so that I could be sure that I was doing the right thing.
Every time someone asked about their motherboard someone would post that picture but I know i don't have the ta082 one because my numbers aren't on that side like I mentioned before. My other psp is a ta082 but sadly enough I updated it to 3.03 because I thought if I formated the memory stick it would go back to its previous version then I found out that it was saved in some sort of internal memory of the psp ~_~

I was able to to go from 2.60 > 2.71 > 1.50 > 3.03oa > 3.03ob
I was nervous as hell seeing that it wasn't my psp so I wouldn't feel like replacing it but it all went well.
I even converter FFVIII in an eboot file with the popstationGUI and it supplied everything for and easy conversion, even transferring the game into the psp.
The game plays awesome from the intro and thats all I really played. I heard there was a glitch when entering the world map but that its nothing big. Its final fantasy on the psp so what do I care ^_^

final fantasy vii emu problem

I am currently running 3.03 OE-B and i use simple popstation gui 2 to convert my iso images to EBOOT.PBP. I am trying to play Final Fantasy VII but when i try to start it the screen just stays black and when i press menu it acts like the game is playing and i can exit to the main menu for psp. It automatically creates a save file for ffvii in my saved games. I tried the hot shots golf 2 files i downloaded and they work fine. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I don't know if anyone else has talked about this yet, but has everybody seen the trailer for that new Crush game? It actually looks very unique and interesting...and it's from Sega. Kind of looks like a mix between a platformer and a puzzle game. I'm sure gonna keep my eye on it.

Dark_Alex released another update - 3.03 OE-C:

Quote:

* AVC videos bitrate limit patched. The firmware limited the bitrate of avc videos to only 768 Kbps. OE now forces the limit to be 16384 Kbps. (Note: this doesn't mean than the psp can handle such a high bitrate, this means than they won't show error. I don't know which is the real maximum bitrate than the psp can handle at full speed)
* Speed of OE boot is now ~3 seconds faster than previous versions. (without plugins)
* CPU speed of XMB can now be changed.
* Wifi can now work at 333 Mhz!
* Added access to flash 0 and 1 via usb in the recovery menu, based on the great idea of USBSSS by Booster. Note that writing is enabled, so this is intended only for advanced users that know what they are doing in each moment.(It is not a great idea to change anything from the kd folder). Because of this addition, the rest of flashing options were removed.
* PSP isos can now be deleted as any normal memstick games. (also the size of the iso now shows fine when you press triangle->information).
* When formatting memory stick, GAME150, GAME303 and ISO directories will be automatically created!
* Changes in internal HEN core:
o If a EBOOT.PBP with a plain DATA.PSP had a data.psar, modulemgr took as size of the executable the size of data.psp+data.psar. Fixed. (this fix enables psx games to have plain data.psp without causing a memory error).
o Added a couple of patches found by Tyranid. One allows syscalls instructions to be used in kernel mode without causing a crash. The other allows sceKernelQueryModuleInfo to work with sceInit and previous modules.

And this is just the stuff in the actual firmware. Dark_AleX has also updated the popstation with the following things:

* The writing is now a bit different. This will avoid "Memory stick blinking too much" bug when using the plugin to load the 3.02 pops.
* popstation now lets the use of non-encrypted DATA.PSP. If data.psp is in the same directory as the app, popstation will use that as the DATA.PSP of the eboot.pbp. Otherwise, it will use the one from BASE.PBP. A DATA.PSP that imitates the original sony one is included.
* EBOOT.PBP generated with a non encrypted data.psp won't need the file KEYS.BIN at all. (Note: these EBOOT.PBP cannot work in versions prior to 3

map car man words telling me to do things Jan 25, 2007 03:37 PM

Sheesh, no word on fixing the standby issue? Perfect -_-

Or is that actually software related? I noticed standby works fine on Gitaroo Man Lives, but not on an emulator.

Sepharite Jan 25, 2007 04:15 PM

Standby = Sleep? It works perfectly on all my games while in-game.

Well I remember Jazz having problems with his MGS:Portable Ops and since it doesn't work during emulators, I guess I wrongly thought it's the custom firmware.

BIGWORM Jan 26, 2007 03:34 AM

updated. The XMB in 333MHz runs noticeably faster now. ^^

MGS: PO (UMD and ISO versions) had a problem with 3.03 OE-B when trying to come back from sleep mode at the title screen, main menu, and menu in-between missions (sleep/suspend would work DURING a mission, however).

I am happy to say that 3.03 OE-C has fixed this issue.

Sleep mode works perfectly again and I've been putting the new video resolution to good use these past few weeks.

A "noob" group called Hello World will create a downgrader for 3.03 sometime this week. This leaves a big fuckin smile to my face!. So for anyone who made a stupid mistake like I have, Fear not any longer.

http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/index.php...id=37&Itemid=1

That's just a sample of proof to show they aren't lying. If a screenshot aint proof enough. YOU do it. I tried it and it works. However for those who are carrying a latest version of GTA: LCS (basically the Greatest Hits version), It will NOT work for the psp.

Ken Hikari Jan 26, 2007 02:32 PM

Chato, I'm going to have a seizure from your signature...:psyduck:

I'm still running of off 3.03OE-B, and I know OE-C just came out, but is it worth it to upgrade?

So let's assume they aren't deliberately attempting to create a bricker app. They have to be lots better at hacking the PSP than anyone else has been so far... 'cause all the other scene developers have not thus far succeeded.

I'm not saying this isn't true, but I am saying that I wouldn't want to be among the first several hundred people to try it. Fortunately for me, it's not even an issue.

BIGWORM Jan 26, 2007 03:49 PM

Honestly, to say you can come out with a downgrader that works on 2.81-3.03 is just too good to be true. I think they're more than likely just saying that to get their name out in the homebrew community, then MAYBE they'll come out with another mediocre app. =/

JazzFlight Jan 26, 2007 04:06 PM

Uh, it's not a "noob group called Hello World." A group called Noobz released a Hello World app for firmwares 2.81-3.03.

Noobz is a group made up of hackers such as Fanjita.

This should be the real deal.

They said they specifically went back to looking at the old GTA method and found that it wasn't really patched in the successive firmwares.

What they need to do is find out how to make a downgrader work, not just a Hello World app. That shouldn't take too long.

Rock Jan 26, 2007 04:08 PM

"Noobz" is the group name of famed PSP hacker Fanjita and Co. I don't think they're doing this to "get their name out", because it already is. Everyone "in the scene" knows of them.

The "Hello World" application is already running on 3.03 firmware PSPs (you can download and test it yourself) - it's only a matter of time until a stable downgrader will be released. This thing is 100% confirmed and real.

EDIT: Jazz beat me to it. ;-)

JazzFlight Jan 26, 2007 04:12 PM

Just to explain what a Hello World program is...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_world

Quote:

A "hello world" program is a software program that prints out "Hello world!" on a display device. It is used in many introductory tutorials for teaching a programming language. Such a program is typically one of the simplest programs possible in a computer language.

...A "hello world" program can be a useful sanity test to make sure that a language's compiler, development environment, and run-time environment are correctly installed.
It's the first test that any group does to show that an application can run.

Oh yeah, I get that... I follow the scene. I'm just skeptical that anyone else can do what Dark_Alex cannot.

It's too bad that I can't change it since it's locked by an unknown loser.

Jazz had already stated that OE-C fixes all those bugs it had with a few games (MGS:P OPS).

I just hope it actually works. So I'll wait for a few people to see if it works or not.

TheXeno Jan 26, 2007 06:25 PM

GOOD FUCKING GOD CHATO, change your avatar and sig your going to give me a seizure.

edit - It is good news to hear that the latest firmware as has been cracked.

BIGWORM Jan 27, 2007 04:39 AM

I imagine 3.03 won't be the latest firmware for too long. =)

Chip Jan 27, 2007 04:45 AM

Is it safe to flash a white psp (TA board) thats already been downgraded to 1.50 into using a custom firmware? Safe in the sense that It'd go all okay like how one flashes an original 1.50 psp? :o

BIGWORM Jan 27, 2007 04:48 AM

Once you flash to 1.50 (which is necessary for "cursed" boards IIRC), flashing to a custom firmware should be no problem. You can bump straight up to 3.03 OE-C seeing it's a full update, and not an incremental one.

Sinister Jan 28, 2007 08:50 AM

I can't wait for this downgrader to be released.

I'm one of the unfortunate people to have bought a 2.81 PSP, so this is great news for me. I've already tested the hello world application that noobz released and it works with my copy of GTA:LCS so I'm all set to downgrade when the downgrader finally surfaces.

I've got 3.03OE-C sitting here on my hard drive all ready to go once I finally downgrade to 1.5.

The prospect of being able to play most of those PSX games sitting in my collection is almost too good to handle.
