I would highly doubt that, but you never know. We've seen most of the returning fighters already it seems, but Ness definitely has to be in it, right?

Well, there are rumors of Ness being replaced by Lucas (or whatever the name of the Mother 3 character is).

I know those are just rumors, but Ninten, Ness and Lucas are all similar.

I think Ness will be in again, since he is in the only Mother game that made it to America.

That and he's been in the smash bros series since day one. You can pretty much take for granted that the original cast (including secret characters) will all be making a return. It wouldn't surprise me if Lucas or Flint were in the game though. A Mother 3 stage or two would be pretty sweet. No doubt some Mother characters are going to show up as assist trophies. I'm looking at you Poo.

Nintendo's been a pain in terms of news and stuff. While I've been here getting excited about Halo, Bioshock and the other big console games, the only Nintendo game that's been keeping me on my toes is SSBB. Metroid doesn't count cause there wasn't enough hype (also due to the fact that I live in Australia... Stupid PAL/NTSC conversions).

I don't like this update , well except for the guys in the back of the stage, wtf with them? XD

The items that maybe at risk of being eaten, and players complaining are, the star, heart, pokeball and assist trophy, but all of them, either are grabbed in the air, or it takes 1 sec to pick them up :P

At least Lip's Stick is back.

And that stage was the Animal Crossing stage.

The best way for Munchlax to become epic is if as he eats more and becomes larger, the spectators become more and more horrified by the situation.

The Animal Crossing characters in the background are more interesting to me. They seem to be reacting to Munchlax, so that means there's a chance they may react dynamically to players also. This opens up some awesome possibilities for levels if they use it for something other than shocked onlookers.

Oh good job catching that, Dope. I thought it was the fire flower at first glance and moved on. =)

A question regarding the Devil assist trophy. Now I know that it moves the screen, but for all those who are caught off screen and die, do you think those count as suicides or does the player that devil is "assisting" get the kills?

I imagine it'll count as a Trophy Assist KO or something just like there are Pokemon Assist KOs. So yeah, the KO points will go to whoever used the assist trophy. It only makes sense. Should they start making it so any items you use don't count when you KO someone? That doesn't make much sense.

I'm not saying that items shouldnt count for KO's. Its just that with the way the devil trophy works how will one differentiate between an assist KO and a self-destruct.

I see. That would be tough because when he leaves, some people could fall off immediately after and it would technically be a suicide but... if it was caused by the screen scrolling then it wouldn't be a suicide. Interesting.

Oh, hmmm... well I could see it either way. If you don't pay attention to the way he points and fall off then suicide or assist trophy KO are both fine by me. Interesting though.

I had always wondered if Lyn would be added since she's not really a primary character among the Eliwood/Roy & Hector/Lilina storyline between the first two Game Boy Advance Fire Emblems....but I didn't think that Sakurai would actually do it! Is it even possible to pack any more win into this game?

While I'm not MEGA-FANBOY crazy about her I'm disappointed at the fact that she would have been a great character addition. Plus the Smash lineup needs more girls. Furthermore, she could've been a replacement for Marth (the more quicker FE character of Smash). Oh well.

I like that you can grab people and hold them in place to help your assistants deal damage easier.

Too bad Lyn isnt playable though, I'm a big fan of the fighting style she appears to be using. Where one attacks from a sheathed position. I dont know what it is, it just seems cool to me.

It's like, all samurai/sneak up and attack-type stuff, which is probably why you like it.

Oh...so she's an assist trophy. When I looked at the site late last night I took it as her being a playable character. I need to stop depriving myself of sleep waiting on these update. >_>

Yeah, I thought she was playable at first too. I wasn't very fond of Lyn in FE, but her fighting style would've been an interesting replacement for Marth or Roy. A bit disappointing to only have her as an Assist Trophy.

Every assist trophy is instant disappointment b/c Smash should be Mugen where you can play as the pot from Zelda. Come on guys. =/
