Err, why? I doubt they're going to run out of preorders on classic controllers before you get back there, in fact I'm not sure why anyone would need to preorder accessories or games since they always have craploads of extras at launch (sometimes they make more games than there are systems available, oddly enough).

I guess I also have a question about the classic controller, that may have been asked/answered in this thread... basically: why would I need/want one? Just for a more traditional feel? To play old games? Do some Wii games need it instead of the Wiimote? Eh?

Pretty much just for Virtual Console and Gamecube games, although I don't know why you'd use the classic controller for Gamecube games when you could just use Gamecube controllers for it. A couple Wii games support the classic controller such as Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Dragon Ball Z, but there aren't very many.

success... CacheCrash and I were at our local EB at 6:30 this morning... first ones in line. About 15 minutes later two more folks showed up. And by 9:30 there were over thirty people in line. By store opening it was around thirty-five people. Only thirty pre-order slips were handed out.

And yes, employees at the store had to wait in line with everyone else... something a bit different that I hadn't seen done before. ^_^

Was out by 10:05... back home... and now taking the rest of my "sick day" from work and going to Disneyland ^_^

Lukage Oct 13, 2006 12:41 PM

Just an FYI, the Classic Controller and Nunchucks are $21.60 each and the Wiimote is $43.22

(Prices include tax)

I missed the pre-order since I had class at the time EB was opening, and I had a presentation in that class ._.

I guess I'll have to go with the online pre-order once that opens up. And if I miss that... I guess I'll get one after Christmas XD

Lukage, I hate you.lol I live in Wentzville,MO and could not find a damn Gamestop or EB around here that had any left. They said they all had people line up around 4:30. BS. Now I gotta wait in line if I want one on the 19th. Anyone know the best place to wait outside?

Doubtful that you'd get one, but you should check out the Best Buy at Mid Rivers or whatever that mall is in O'Fallon. There's no BS in the fact that we got up early to get what we want. :D

Omnislash124 Oct 13, 2006 12:58 PM

Haha....damn, I'm screwed.

If there are this many people waiting on preorders, then there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to pick one up anytime soon after launch. I suppose I should have preordered. Unfortunately for me, Virginia Tech resides in a college town where this is literally nothing here. I'd have to jump to an adjacent city just to go to a Wal-Mart. Well, regardless, here's still hoping that I can pick one up at launch during Thanksgiving break.....Along with Red Steel and Zelda.

*Crosses Fingers*

Thanksgiving break is Nov. 20 - 25.....O.o.....

Would they get a second shipment by that time?

Lukage Oct 13, 2006 12:59 PM

Yesterday it's all "Nah, I don't need to wait in line."

Now it's all "ZOMG I SHOULD HAVE SAT IN THE COLD!"

I should also note that my mall opens at 6:30AM. I didn't have to get cold at all. Sat right in front of the store.

The B0mb Oct 13, 2006 01:01 PM

Meh, I heard walmart was pretty good at launches.(The one here in Wentzville. I mean who comes to Wentzville?) I'll be there at 9:00 O'clock on the 18th. Hopefully I will walk out with a wii.

Kaleb.G Oct 13, 2006 01:24 PM

Got mine pre-ordered too!

EB Games opened at 10AM. I got there at a quarter to 8AM, and there were already 6 people there. The guy at the front was waiting since 3AM! By the time the store had opened, there were about 20 people there, so they didn't sell out immediately. Being #7 in line, I got my pre-order, of course. I left at about 10:20 though, so I don't know what happened afterward.

Didn't mind the wait at all though; I played Rocket Slime the entire time. Waiting is fun!

Did you wave to the mall walking grannies? There are always elderly mall walkers.

JazzFlight Oct 13, 2006 01:33 PM

Anyone get scared by people coming late and cutting in line (by having a friend hold spots for them early)?

At 6am, I started in 5th place, but ended up in 8th by opening hour. Plus, people cut behind me too, so whoever was further back in line might have gotten screwed over due to that.

Miles Oct 13, 2006 01:36 PM

Number 4 here. Arrived at my Gamestop around 8 AM and there were only 3 people outside. All of them were college students from Davis who came to our store to avoid the huge lines at their college town. Around 9:10 the gamestop employee handed out 11 cards (we had a bigger line by then). He then gave us the responsibility of turning people away after that.

It's funny too because people would drive by and get excited at there only being 11 people outside only to be told they aren't gonna get one and to go home. It's like telling them their cat died. XD

Yes, they were there, but stop stalking me. I've known about the mall-walkers for a while, though.

Nope, polite people at my location! :D

We didn't have cards or anything, the guy just counted. We did keep telling #9 and on "You know...they only have eight."

I got my Wii preordered along with some accessories. I woke up at 7:00 am and got to the mall at about 7:15. I waited until 8 o'clock and then they allowed me to go inside. After that I just waited in front of EB and by 10 o'clock there were about 15 people waiting in line and luckily I was NUMERO 1. Yup, I was lucky enough to be the first one. I thought it was pretty funny how the manager came out before handing out number slips that they weren't getting as many Wii's as they thought so only about 10 people got slips and the other people looked very disappointed. Oh well, if you really want it badly enough you have to wait early enough.

Anyway, the manager took a picture of everyone in line and told us to hold up our number slips and I proudly smiled  along with the others who were able to get a number.

Hey Kaleb, do you have a twin in Florida b/c there was a guy in line who was playing the exact same game. Weird... O.O

nanstey Oct 13, 2006 04:47 PM

Just got mine reserved - Our Gamestop was allotted 12, 4 for employees. I was one of those four. There was only one left when I got there, though - good thing I made sure to call the opening manager - I think I woke the poor guy up this morning...

T1249NTSCJ Oct 13, 2006 06:52 PM

Just called 4 EB stores and 2 Gamestop shops in my area or within a reasonable driving distance and all are gone!
Damnit, I was set on playing Smash Bros Brawl this holiday season. :cussing:

SpaceInsomniac. Oct 13, 2006 07:02 PM

To anyone who didn't get their Wiiorder today, you should be aware that Nintendo will have WAY more systems at launch than the 360 did, or that the PS3 will. Many people think the only reason EB games had such a small amount today is because they want to sell most of them in force bundles through their website. Even if you miss launch day, there's a good chance you could still get one before Christmas. Word has it that Nintendo is spacing apart shipments.

The only thing you should worry about is those greedy e-bay fuckers ruining it for everyone.

T1249NTSCJ Oct 13, 2006 07:22 PM

I plan on cashing in on those suckers who actually want a PS3, meaning those who will pay top dollar for it on ebay. :naughty:
What surprises me most is how Nintendo World in Manhattan doesn't sell any consoles, just a few games here and there and apparel. One would think, a store calling itself Nintendo World NYC would have all things Nintendo wouldn't they? By the way, can anyone confirm Smash Bros Brawl being released on 12/30/06?

Yeah, I went to my local Gamestop here in Macomb, IL around 4 this afternoon to reserve a Wii.

I was thinking that Macomb's a small town. Surely there couldn't be that many people that reserved a Wii already. I was wrong. People stood outside of the store since 6 AM and Gamestop was only able to take 10 reservations. Needless to say, I wasn't able to get one. :(

Hahaha that reminds me when EB put down my $50 for Need for Speed DS instead of Nintendo DS.

FatsDomino Oct 13, 2006 09:30 PM

I called 5 EB/GameStops that I know around here at around 5 PM just for shits and giggles. All of them had sold out of preorders immediatly by 10:30 AM. I lol'd and said thanks to all the guys on the phone. We had a bag of laughs. Anyway I'll just hang outside a Best Buy or Walmart on launch day. It'll be fun.

Well, unless I can get Mo0 to set me one aside that is. =)

Friggin sellers are aiming for the thousands, for a Wii. I mean, come on, it's not like it's going to be sold out for months..

Anyway, I'm going to wait a bit, only because I'm not the one purchasing consoles, it's actually my parents. Maybe sometime after Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy comes out..
