Well, based on the Theatrical Trailer, it seems the beginning of the movie will be in B&W and the fire that's burning in the QUICK STOP will be in color and then it'll cut to Color.

Oooh, nice approach. I wanna see it more now, even just for that part :p

Kevin will be appearing at Criminal Records this Thursday. I'm definitely going to see him and I'll post pictures when I get back.

Much like Terminator 3 - do we really need this movie, especially so late in the game? For a director so many people think is witty and intelligent, a sequel to a long-ago movie shows a lack of steam on his part.

Smith has been toying with the idea of a Clerks sequel for quite some time (he said it would be his next film after Dogma [1999], so at bare minimum 7 years). After Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, he said he was done with the Jersey movies. That was it. Since then he made a promise to Jason Mewes that if he got, and kept, himself clean he could play Jay one more time. He also remembered why he loved the characters so much when he was working on the Clerks 10th Anniversay disc. He doesn't have to make this movie at all. It'll be a moderate success, probably make back it's costs but not a whole lot more. It's hardly going to be the box office smash of the summer. |

Look at the worthless morons who like Boondock Saints? These two movies are equally painful - yet people on the internet love them and support them enough to give them repeat DVD business. I fear that you are wrong in the worst way possible. |
Clerks wasn't my favorite movie from Kevin Smith, but I liked it well enough. I heard about this a few months back and I'm looking forward to this. I'll go see it during the week though to avoid all those annoying teenagers.
Yeah, this one will probably make some considerable dollars. I got dragged to Scary Movie 4 opening night (rather than go hang out at my friends house, we decided to go see a late showing of scary movie 4 on a Friday night), and they played the trailer for Clerks 2 -- you'd have thought everyone in the theater had one collective orgasm with all the "yes" and "woo" comments all at once. Since Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, it looks like everyone decided Kevin Smith is awesome (at least from what I've seen). I agree with LeHah here, this money is going to make some significant money. |

I think Clerks is a good movie because I think it's bloody hilarious and I can connect with it because I've been working at a supermarket for 6 years. Plus, the success story behind it is pretty awesome. Guy risks it all on a gamble like Clerks and comes out successful as fuck? That's uplifting for an aspiring filmmaker like myself. Better than fuckholes like Michael Bay who probably got their start by simply knowing the right people. I have to agree that the hype it gets from the countless IMDBlowhards is pretty overwhelming and has severely inflated Smith's ego... But eh, if anyone deserves it, it's him. |
I'm looking forward to this film regardless of the facts: it is no longer in black 'n white (ridding itself of its avant garde status), Smith over-milking the Clerks franchise, Rosario Dawson sticking out like a sore thumb.

I just stumbled upon this brand-new RED BAND trailer for Clerks 2!
RED BAND means that it's rated NC-17 for 'bad words' that could corrode your soul! http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2687411?htv=12 Enjoy! |

Anyway, this movie looks hilarious. This may be one of the few movies I go to see at the movies this year. Whether I see it at the movies or wait for the DVD though, I'm seeing this movie! |

So has anyone went to go see this movie yet? I went to go see it earlier today, and I can confirm that it is awesome!
So is it better than the first one? It's really hard to tell (for me, anyway), because while it manages to retain a lot of the same things that made the first movie great, it also does a lot of things differently enough to make you know that this is a different type of movie. I think the fact that this movie had a little more of an actual plot (leading up to an excellent climax and ending) made me like it a little more, though. But for the pure laugh factor, I would say that they are about equal. I definitely give up to Randall, who was once again my favorite character in the movie, as I found him to be the funniest. It seems like no matter who he was talking to, he managed to have a different type of relationship with that character than he had with all the other characters in the film, which led to some really funny stuff (especially with Elias). Overall though, all the characters and dialogue were great, and the movie as a whole was great as well. If you liked the first one, you'll definitely like this one as well, though how much so compared to the first one will all be your own personal preference. |
I saw it tonight as well I can also confirm that it was hilarious. Not as good as the first but man it's damn close. Easily my second favorite Kevin Smith Film.

Stolen from my very own journal -
Wow, this film blew me away. I wasn't expecting it to be as funny as it was, and it delivered that in spades. I wasn't expecting it to be touching either, and it delivered that even more. I almost cried it was so good. I don't have the energy to write an in-depth review, so I'll just give a handy bulleted list of what worked in the film. - Funny as SHIT. - Felt just like the original did. Didn't feel like a glossed over Hollywood movie. - Felt like a logical continuation of the story of Dante and Randal. - Great characters - Very emotional story overall. - Amazing conclusion. - Jay and Silent Bob were great as usual. I was really blown away by the ending of the film. Like Clerks before it, Clerks II is a film that I really connected with on many levels. The ending... Spoiler:
That would be my only complaint. Other than that, this film is fucking perfect. I was very impressed by it. Go see it NOW! 9/10 |
Yeah, this movie was great.
Definately on par with the first film, but I still have to give the animated series the nod as being the funniest (plus it cuts out all the "gross-for-gross sake" elements). The segues back and forth between "comedy scene" and "romantic drama" were a bit clunky. Everytime we went back to Dante and Rosario Dawson, I thought to myself, "Booooooring." I mean, sure it paid off at the end to have that plot & character build-up, but it could have been blended together with the fart and dick jokes better instead of feeling like another film entirely. Spoiler:
While I feel that it wasn't as funny or cool (as in "underground cult film") as Clerks 1, it definately tied up the story and fleshed out the characters. Plus, Elias was absolutely hilarious. I was hoping for more lines from him. |
And I also wanted to ask, did anyone here about this situation with Joel Siegel? Man, this was totally stupid, and I completely agree with everything Kevin says about it. I can't believe this guy would be such an asshole about the situation.
Also make sure to listen to the mp3 at the end of the entry, as it's pretty fucking hilarious. |
Jeff Anderson heard about this, and said he'd love to put something like "'This is the first movie I've walked out of in thirty years!' - Joel Siegel" on the movie poster. :)
Also, I was surprised to find a couple with a kid about 5 or 6 years old in the theater when I walked in. Needless to say, they left before the ending. Still, even though I felt it relied on gross-out antics a bit much, the sappy romance parts felt forced, and there wasn't enough Dante and Randal banter, I still absolutely loved this movie. Second only to the original Clerks in my list of Kevin Smith films. Thank god he came back with this after Jersey Girl. |
I caught a showing of this one on Sunday. Though the movie tried to be more dramatic and story-driven at times, it kept its pace well comedy-wise.
Spoiler:
All in all, I thought it was well worth the price of admission, and I'd like to see it again sometime before it leaves theatres. |
