Before heading off, if you guys don't post up the HQ trailer online tomorrow then I'll see if I can get a buddy of mine (IGN Insider) to pass it my way. This way I'll be glad to upload it online, night folks. :)

Uh, hello.

Ray Gun = acceptable for Smash Bros.
Real Gun = not acceptable for Smash Bros.

He could use his tranq gun, but the appearance of it is still as though it's a "real gun." And forget him smoking cigarettes.

Blades are different, depending on how they look. I mean, I can't see Nintendo allowing a survival knife as a weapon, but a sword seems okay (citing the Fire Emblem characters and Link).

Wall Feces May 10, 2006 10:37 PM

I could see the tranq gun being sweet. It could knock the opponent out for 2 seconds or something.

This is the best news all week. Nintendo wins the show, hands down. Fuck all naysayers!

Yeah, that's what I thought just now. Oops.

Okay, just saw the trailer. The expression on Mario's face when he was being boiled SCARED ME TO THE WIT POINT.

Motsy May 10, 2006 10:41 PM

Snake's attacks = CQC.

Somehow I can't see him slitting Mario's throat.

(Plus that was Big Boss's moveset, not Solid Snake)

Wall Feces May 10, 2006 10:43 PM

I almost weeped when I watched that trailer, that's how good it is.

Good lord I can't wait for this game.

evergreen May 10, 2006 10:44 PM

I hope Snake can call Otacon for assistance.

TheReverend May 10, 2006 10:46 PM

I've got the Insider trailer...

Someone tell me where to upload it!

Grubdog May 10, 2006 10:48 PM

From the Jostiq article

"Sakurai said he thought long and hard on how to fit Snake in, since he's usually armed with a gun, Sakurai said doesn't want to incorporate real weapons in game, but if they characters can use rocket launchers it might be funny"

LOL yes please.

Official Japanese site is also up http://www.smashbros.com/jp/

It's only 23MB, isn't it? YouSendIt or SendSpace preferred. Thanks for obtaining it.

And yes, I watched the trailer already, it's sofa king awesome. Wario farting was priceless (never got the chuckles out of the MGS part though ;_; )

Motsy May 10, 2006 10:49 PM

Wondering why the theme played in the trailer is so over-the-top dramatic?

Because it's by NOBUO FUCKING UEMATSU.

Darkcomet72 May 10, 2006 10:52 PM

HOLD ON WHAT

EDIT: Oh, they have the MP3 up. To be honest, I prefer the intro music from SSBM.

Wall Feces May 10, 2006 10:52 PM

WHAT!!!!!

COME ON NOW!

Nintendo keeps outdoing itself!

Soldier May 10, 2006 10:54 PM

Well that settles it, expect at least one or two FF characters tossed on. I don't care who.

Yeah, I'll join in the crowd and say the trailer was amazing. The music was insanely over the top, but in a good way.

And even though Snake (and FF) debuted on Nintendo, they also said they were talking with other 3rd party companies. At this point, there isn't anyone they could put in that will surprise me.

It's pretty sad that for over a decade, people begged for the return of Kid Icarus, but when he finally arrives, everyone is too busy gushing over Snake. :(

Anyway, the 2007 release date is very sad, because if this was a launch title, I would seriously buy a Wii before a PS3.

Actually, I take it back, I want Sephiroth in, just to watch the collective hilarity of fanboys explode into a euphoric joy at the sight of Snake vs Sephiroth.

Finally, Liquid Snake is going to be a hidden character. Yep, I called it.

Free.User May 10, 2006 10:55 PM

Now I'm thanking Uematsu for going freelance.

HazelGuy May 10, 2006 10:55 PM

For shits and giggles, I call Raiden to be hidden. Everything there yells MGS2.

Motsy May 10, 2006 10:57 PM

Some clarification: Metal Gear debuted on the MSX, not the NES.

And everyone knows The Boss is the hidden character.

evergreen May 10, 2006 10:57 PM

By the way, SSB:B theme mp3 on the official site.

Soldier May 10, 2006 10:59 PM

That was fast. Post a downloadable link.

Me too. Nobuo Uematsu's Theme for this game is boring compared to it. I liked the old one a lot better.

I didn't really like Melee's theme all that much. Not to say I hated it, but it just never hit me as great.

I like this one though, I'm surprised it is Uematsu. Good God.

Basil May 10, 2006 11:02 PM

Been too excited to compare both themes. But Uematsu? Dammit, is Nintendo gonna stop bringing us glory? ;__;
