Oh, OK. Like Stafox then.

I'm sensing mediocrity in this game as well. I won't be surprised if it does turn out to be another mediocre sonic game. I'll be more interested in the reasons the fanboys will make up for it's shortcomings.

I just hope the game doesn't play anything like the Mach Speed areas in Sonic Next-Gen.

I can only agree with that statement if you're talking about Shadow and Riders. Any other game, even Heroes, I'll have to say something about it. :D

Alright, it seems like the hardest learning part of this game will be timing your jumps correctly, at least from what I saw. The person doing the demo seemed to have a little trouble at around 5:24.

Here's another thought...how in the world are they going to do the bosses? Is it going to be running and hitting like in Sonic & Knuckles Mushroom Hill Zone? That would be very interesting to see how they're going to pull that off.

I'm just waiting, and waiting, to see the thing that kills this game. It'll go out with a fantasticular bang.

Burp Nov 26, 2006 11:04 PM

After playing the PS3 game of Sonic... i dont know what can i said, but hope that this will be a better game, because the new-gen Sonic is HORRIBLE!!! i prefer Sonic Adventures to that shit...

This games reminds me a little to Sonic R.

The next gen Sonic soundtrack is too good for the game itself, sadly.

Makes me wish some of the 2-D Sonics/next good major Sonic gets a customizable soundtrack.

No, that's what it used to be. Nowadays it's all "USE YOUR SUPER SONIC POWERS TO SAVE ALL OF REALITY FROM THE EVIL GOD WHO WILL DESTROY ALL EXISTENCE AND ALSO DIE AND BE REVIVED BY MAGIC PRINCESS TEARS".

Its storyline has entered shitty JRPG territory.

I do too! They should have babies! =D

Conan-the-3rd Dec 7, 2006 02:09 PM

To be honest, the only game to intrest me since Sonic Adventure 2 is Sonic Rush (Sonic Advnace 3 comes close damnit)

lets see how not being able to fall of the course fares.

speculative Dec 7, 2006 03:43 PM

Does that box art lettering give anyone else an Arabian Nights vibe?

FatsDomino Dec 7, 2006 05:09 PM

Well considering the game's setting, no, no, not at all. =/

Come to think of it I've never seen Sonic's cock dispite him being naked all the time, so how will Sonic make Amy pregnent? Ok I've seen his cock sometimes... in yaoi fan drawings. Not cool.

He hides it inside him. Much like dog. =o

Okay, first of all guys I'm the biggest Sonic fanboy in the world so if you have any qquestions just come to me. Now, I think that Sonic and the secret rings is gonna me a most awesomely pownage game (misspellings set aside.) I love everything about Sonic except for some of the older 3-D games I.E. Sonic R, Sonic 3-D blast, and those kind of games.

RushJet1 Dec 9, 2006 12:53 PM

i like the older sonic games and dislike the newer ones. all of the genesis sonic games were great (sonic 3 was the lowest point, but it is still far above adventure). adventure 2 was better than 1, and heroes was .. worse than adventure 2 (massive gameplay glitches and SHITTY HORRIBLE VOICE ACTING). the advance games are ok, but they're way too easy. i remember playing advance 1 and just holding down RIGHT for a long-ass time and beating levels if i timed jumps right. i'm hoping sonic&the secret rings doesn't suck, but i don't know! it might!

Sin Ansem Dec 9, 2006 04:13 PM

...yeah. Boxart scares me for some reason. Does the hedgehog think he can top Negi Springfield in the pimp factory? I THINK NOT.

And as for storylines, Sonic HAS had some plots (cutscenes in 3&K anyone?) and I actually like the new ones: they're just presented in such a cheesy manner that they're hard to like.

But then again Sonic has ALWAYS been cheesy to me. Guess it's part of his charm.

Dude you cant be more right with the story lines! The cheesiness is just a minor detail that I have learned to love.:sega: :guitarist:

Sonic will probably end up much like Castlevania where the 3D versions just don't stack up to the old school side-scrolling. Sonic Rush on the DS got wonderful reviews (probably the highest since the Genesis days) and the Sonic Advance games were also pretty good. Looks like the DS is the place where franchises unable to jump to next gen go to to return to their 2-d roots.

Shadow_Of_Chaos Dec 10, 2006 08:22 PM

Ok 2-D was excellent for sonic, but with the rail system on secret rings it looks like the good old sonic "no crappy camera angles" will be back and cotrol problems will be gone.

WELL JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T CARE, I HAVE OUR THE NEWS UPDATE

Accordin' to BlackArms off of gamefaqs, with PICTORIAL EVIDENCE:

Quote:

Games Master gave an exclusive preview of the game in their newest issue.

First of all, the game is 85% done right now.

The game will have 10 levels, 5 of which were named in the magazine-
Sand Oasis
Dinosaur Jungle
Evil Foundry
Levitated Ruin
Pirate Storm

Sonic has 100 new skills in this game. At the beginning you start out with a basic set of movements, you can earn more skills with EXP from playing the main game. With the new skills you can tweak sonic's handling to perfection. The skills can be assigned to one of four rings, each ring has a 500 point capacity. Each of the rings can hold a huge amount of skill sets allowing you to tailor sonic how you want which is essential for the challenges, as you'll need different handling each time. One of the moves is the soul meter which allows you to speed boost or slow down time, we've seen the speed bost in past videos but the slow down time makes the screen grey in a pic in the mag. The other moves tweak your handling, attack power, braking and jumping.

There are 40 multiplayer minigames.

Eacch stage has 10 missions, these include-
Beat the clock - Simple time trial
Stealth Attack - Get through the level without defeating a single enemy
Chain challenges - Collect rings without taking a hit
Rampage - Kill a certain amount of enemies
No Pearl - Get no charge for your soul meter
Special challenges unique to each stage

The controls are -
Tilt - Left/Right to steer. Back/Forward to accelerate/back-pedal
1- Cancel
2 - Jump
D-Pad up - Boost
D Pad down - Slow time
Flick forward to attack

Here's there review of the preview-

The +'s-
1. The depth to the handling and skill settings
2. Seems to have massive replay value
The -'s-
1. Some handling niggles
2. Some dodgy soundtrack and voice work

A massive step in the right direction for Sonic. A game that looks 3D, but is effectively a glorified 2D game - exactly what the series has been crying out for!
