Dammit, I was thinking that maybe it would be in one of the areas in the image below. Maybe not Anea because it's all snow up there.. But I dont think any of those areas have been used yet. If anyone knows for sure I would like to know.

I watched the interview and I just cannot believe the game does not take place in the same universe. I will be surprised if it really is a new world but for now I refuse to believe it.

The wifi multiplayer thing still sounds kick ass though.

Karasu May 11, 2006 07:53 PM

I wonder if Megalith even thinks he's amusing. lol

Anyway, IF it takes place in a different world...who cares. As long as the game plays great and also has a good wireless connection, then hey...that's cool to me.

BTW, Shonos...Is that a screencap of yours? If so, is that the widescreen format of the game or something? The text looks different.

Shonos May 11, 2006 08:42 PM

Yeah it's a screencap I took while playing. But it's not widescreen. I'm playing the game through DScaler. If it looks any different then that's why.

Karasu May 14, 2006 11:51 PM

Hmm we have this Ace Combat stuff around here, yet no one talks about the updates to this game. Gamespot released a PSP video of in-gameplay action. To be honest, I think it's very nice. It doesn't look like a PS1 game at all, and it has the fluidity of the recent AC games it seems. I wonder though if the BG Music is a song from the game :O Dun dun dun. lol. Either way, i'll be saving up for a PSP later this year, hehe. [Don't get me wrong though, there are other titles on PSP I have wanted, but this is the prime game I definitely want.]

That doesn't look bad at all. I'm just worried that the insufficient amount of buttons available on the PSP is going to lead to some unwanted changes in gameplay. There was some talk from Namco about using the digital cross for yawing, which really doesn't sound like it would work very well.

hikarub May 17, 2006 09:15 AM

So what's happening in terms of controls? I wasn't sure how they're incorporating all those commands I'm used to on the PS2's controller. I suppose the wingman commands are out of the window? (I haven't played AC0 yet so I don't know if that still has them). Yawing will be a bit of a pain, since I suppose they will still keep the throttle controls on the PSP's shoulder buttons. How will you change the display between cockpit, first-person and third-person views? (PS2 used the R3 button). And speaking of the right analogue stick, how will you look about without it?

Were these answered anywhere before?

Megalith May 17, 2006 09:19 AM

Wait, the soundtracks on PSP games have the potential to sound just as good as PS2 games, right...

I don't want to hear no 16-bit Ace Combat soundtrack.

Mobius One Jun 24, 2006 10:21 AM

New article on IGN detailing the many multi-player modes.

http://psp.ign.com/articles/714/714558p1.html

Freakin' sweet. I'm especially excited to hear that we can limit and control various battle conditions. I hope there's an Avalon/Megalith-like level for playing capture the data beacon. September can come soon enough.

Karasu Jun 24, 2006 12:37 PM

Now that was really awesome to hear. It's very cool that Namco is putting in those modes, some of them really look fun. I just hope there's a lot of people around playing the game, haha.

EDIT: Holy shit, the infamous XFA-27 will be coming back to this game! Don't believe me?

Oh I am happy...very happy. There's also another new plane at our disposal:

http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/...0623/acx28.jpg

And a lot more planes seem to be in the game, including the Su-27, F-5E, Typhoon and the F-1. Just in case you wanna see what I see: http://namco-ch.net/acecombat-x/index.php

Mobius One Jun 25, 2006 01:02 AM

I fucking came. This game looks to be absolutely kick ass. I hope yaw controls are retained, I'll need them to gun you all down!

Mobius One Aug 12, 2006 06:55 PM

September 19th people! Just over a month from now! I hope PSP get's it's supposed holiday price drop before it comes out because I'll be buying a PSP for this game. Even though it doesn't support online play (from what I've read anyway) I hope to kick all your asses via XLink Kai.

Any word of a soundtrack to be released for it?

Rock Aug 13, 2006 07:47 AM

Snatched a couple of awesome screenshots off the official Namco site depicting cutscenes:

Looks like the people of Aurelia speak French and the story is going to be told AC4-style. Seriously, I can't wait for this. Ace Combat X is easily my most anticipated PSP game ever.

Oh, and it looks like we've got our first squadron insignia:

Uh, the release date is in October.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Aug 13, 2006 01:51 PM

Actually, both IGN and Gamespot have it listed as the 19th of September.

XFA-27? is that the one from AC2 that could shoot 4 missiles at once instead of 2? Like the XLAA.

Wow... another reason to consider buying a PSP, along with the Metal Gear Ac!d series and Pursuit Force. Like Mobius One, I hope the PSP gets its price dropped sometime in the reasonable future.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops > *

There is no price drop though.

Yes, and it was also a stealth fighter too, to boot. I can't wait for Ace Combat 6 to see what it's other weapons are. An unexpected surprise, but welcome nonetheless.

And the new super-fighter looks like a tweaked YF-23A model.

Ramenbetsu Aug 25, 2006 12:55 AM

New Trailer a GO GO baby:
http://www.gameklip.com/v/1297/

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME <3

Karasu Aug 25, 2006 01:53 PM

Wow, that's the PSP? That's really not bad for PSP graphics at all. I swear, Namco loves to push the systems to their limit with Ace Combat, lmao.

And man, am I the only one who's happy for the change of music style in that trailer? I'm all for the patriotic, epic orchestra/trumpets...but that got old. Give me back the ambient, electronic music from AC3, which i'm hoping will be in this since that trailers music was similar to that of AC3's.

Overall though, awesome trailer, I need to save up for this damn PSP now so i can get that game. Hahaha.

Rock Aug 25, 2006 02:16 PM

Everything about that trailer was excellent. The storytelling seems right up there with AC04, graphics are awesome and the music was great.

Again, can't wait to have this on my PSP. I'm sure this will be a sweet experience.

Shonos Sep 5, 2006 09:27 PM

Wait a minute. I was browsing the official AC site for AC: X and on the AC: X web page they had a map of the current AC world. I thought it took place in another world? Now it seems it takes place in the same one?

The two countries are below Osea. See ->

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6...0901ds8.th.png

I mean, I don't really care whether it does or not anymore. But now I'm a little confused.. Could someone atleast confirm it for this retarded fool? ;(

Karasu Sep 5, 2006 11:04 PM

It's the same 'earth' as where all the other Ace Combats take. Hehehe. I think the year is beyond AC 5 though...with the way the cities and planes are in this game. Prolly after AC5 and before AC3.

Metal Sphere Sep 5, 2006 11:45 PM

Jesus Christ, this game's going to force me into getting a PSP. The music, story telling, cities (creeping towards AC3!) and fighters are definitely making this a must have.

Oh and the bombers with the optical camo w/ burst missle (or new tech) and XFA-27 just make this even sweeter.
