Digital Foundary on Eurogamer have been doing some pretty good tech analysis for a while now, and one of their recent(-ish) ones was a comparison of the 360 and PS3 Bayonetta demos: Bayonetta: PS3/360 demo showdown | DigitalFoundry

I have no idea how this game ended up being released completely uncensored and a week before Christmas here in Germany ... very, very odd. Anyway, it's insanely fun and might just beat Arkham Asylum to my personal GotY '09, the only downside being, that my anticipation of God of War III has pretty much evaporated. They won't top that one of.
|
Except that it's coming out in 2010 so it won't be definitely a GOTY.

lololol
time to import copy~ |
It's out in Germany already? It's not out till the 8th of January here. It's not often they stagger the European release of a game.
|
IGN already reviewed the game. Two different reviews in fact. 8.2 on ps3 and 9.6 on xbox.
It must have been a huge fucking difference to warrant completely different scores on the same game. Well anyhow, they mention that the ps3 suffers a lot of loading and slowdown problems. You load when you save, get an item, and whatever, although I didn't see much of that in the demo. On the 360 side, apparently the game is near perfect =/. |
Speaking of which, does anyone know which internalized Sega team did the port for Platinum here? Or was it just a pair of circus bears on unicycles?
|
My vote is for circus bears. The same team that did the Orange Box port, I bet. :/
|
This game looks amazingly fun. I can't wait to play it.

Bayonetta seems cool, feels kinda like FFX-2 with a dominatrix. The music and everything reminds me of FFX-2.
Dante's Inferno however has better controls and more interesting setting (Hell). I'm going to get that one before Bayonetta. |
I think my eye just twitched.
I would say Dante's Inferno is the most graphically impressive of the three big stylish-action games coming out (Inferno, Bayonetta, and God of War III), but that's all I really see as superior in that title. EA pissed all over what could have been one of the most intriguing settings ever by stereotyping the shit out of Dante, giving Hell a supremely bland "fire and brimstone" look, and apparently just throwing in tits for the sake of having tits. Combat seems okay, but the Light and Dark point system seems distracting and the grappling system tied into it is boring as hell. Bayonetta's story seems utterly nonsensical like most Japanese games in that genre, but combat is absolutely beautiful. I'm not entirely sure how it's reminiscent of Final Fantasy X-2 though, to be honest. Of course it's entirely your opinion, but I just don't see how Dante's Inferno looks more enticing than Bayonetta. And to get back on a positive note, a comic most of your have probably already seen: If you're at work, seriously, get back to work:

The pin-up posters for Bayonetta recently arrived, for those who may have pre-ordered it.

I played both demos recently. Bayonetta is Devil May Cry. Dante's Inferno is God of War. ...which, ya know, is pretty obvious.
They were both fun, but I enjoyed Bayonetta more. Not that I'd buy either of them. I'll just use gamefly to get it and toss it back to them once I'm done. |

Ok nice to know that Dante's Inferno is a God of War like game. I never played GoW series, might look into it now. |
Anyone from Europe who hasn't prerdered theirs yet, play.com has the Collector's Editions for the same price as the regular versions
Play.com (UK) : Bayonetta: Climax Edition (Play.com UK Exclusive) (Limited Collector's Edition) : Xbox 360 - Free Delivery |
If you pre-order it from Amazon.co.uk you get a replica gun or something, for all you plastic tat fans.
edit: Oops, my mistake, it's GAME.co.uk who are giving away the replica gun, Amazon are just selling it for £35 (i.e. £5 cheaper). |
Aw... Amazon doesn't have that for the US.
Although, checking the .uk site doesn't tell me about any extra crap either... |
I downloaded and played the demo for this yesterday and, goddamnit, this game is STUPID good. For once, Skills' raging hate boner for another game actually led me to a genuinely good title. I'll definitely be getting this before Dante's Inferno but I'm sure I'll end up owning both. This game though, it's pretty fucking badass. I love the witch time mechanic and, sweet jesus, this chick can wail out some sick moves and these graphics are amazing and super colorful. I think I'm in love.
Additional Spam: What the fuck, man? I want this and it's only available in New Zealand and Australia! |
Well seeing as how it comes out a month before Dante's Inferno, I'm glad you're getting it before Titante's Titferno. (I gauge how well you like a game by your sig and ava).
|
I really want to pick this up, but hearing about the lag and other flaws on the PS3 version makes me wary of doing so until they patch that shit.
I don't want to miss out on the game, but I don't want it ruined by this crap either. Arrgh. |
