Motsognir, recognizing an injured enemy when he saw it, decided this was the ideal time to begin hand to hand combat.

Gabe falls back to the use of his axe, a tankard of ale having failed him for the first and hopefully last time. His aim is spoiled by his sense of shame.

Bolstering Strike: Miss.
Infectious Zombie Challenged.

Glass shatters, and more shambling footsteps begin to thump around the building. The reinforcements have broken through the window, but they still have interior doors to contend with.

Motsognir has no more luck with the ol' chop-chop. Could these abominations be somehow axe-proof? No, that couldn't be. Could it? Could it?

Viper's Strike: Miss. No, it could not be.

Lurching toward their respective challenges, the two mobile zombies lunge forward in a vile embrace. Argumentus finds himself encircled by decaying limbs. His new friend wants to give him a hug!

Zombie Grab: Miss.
Zombie Grab: Argumentus is grabbed.

I ain't visit public houses too often, but if they're anything like the parties we threw back home then I had me an idear. That idiot city-lady burnt the first wave of zombies real bad-like, and I aim to use fire to my advantage.

Hugs. The greatest terror one could face at the convent was an over-enthusiastic hug. The strength of those specially-enabled could squeeze the life out of a minotaur, and Argumentus employs a self-defense technique he learned on the playgrounds of his childhood.

Rolling his eyes back into his head, Argumentus headbutts the zombie, and as the creature's grip loosens he sinks the pick into its side.

The smashing sound from the far room suggested that we were about to be joined by more of the undead monstrosities. Surmising that three on two was good enough odds for my companions to despatch the remaining cadavers, I joined the small child and waited, ready to unleash a fiery doom on anything to shamble through the door.

Go and stand by Brigid, prepare a Flame Burst spell to use on whatever comes through the eastern door

Trying to prove that he's not completely useless, Ewan throws his carving knife into the nearest zombie. He then hurries over to stand beside the brave short lady and the bossy tall one. You'd think she would listen to him when he tried to tell her something, he being the lifelong resident of the town and working in this building since he was eight but nooooooo, she's just going to ignore him and ramble on telling him what to do anyway. He pulls out his frying pan, resisting the urge to beat the lady in the head with it. She does know magic, so she's not completely useless. After this was all over she was gonna wake up with quite the headache, though.

The dwarf circled his quarry warily. The heft of the axe in his hand felt familiar, but his initial strike going awry had left him unsure of how to approach the enemy. A fluke, no doubt, the original miss. So slowly moving around the zombie, he suddenly lashed out violently at its midsection, hoping the smell of fresh mots meat behind it would be enough of a distraction for him to land a solid blow.

Bolstering Strike at Purple Zombie

The unmovable stubborn Jan 28, 2009 06:42 PM

Brigid finds a bottle of dwarven rotgut particularly suited to her mad scheme, and hurries to implement it. A brief comedy of errors ensues as half the group completely fails to hit a mindless corpse. At last, Gabe circles around for a flank, neutralizing the zombie's lightning-quick reflexes. That'll teach them to be dead, the bastards.

Hand Crossbow: miss
Sure Strike: miss, mark expires. Still grabbed!
Knife: miss
Bolstering Strike: 7 damage to Infectious Zombie (bloodied), Gabe +2 temp HP

The first of the new group of zombies reaches the door on the east side of the room, smashing it apart. These zombies seem, if anything, more repulsive than the ones already present. They drip with putrescent fluids, and thick gobs of black ichor seep from their many open wounds. Bob hurls flames onto the closest one as soon as it bursts into view. The second-nearest, upon catching up, responds by hurling a lump of his gooey excretions at Bob. The elf narrowly dodges, and the clod of filth makes a sizzling sound as it slaps wetly into a nearby barstool. The third one in line makes a toss in Brigid's direction, with similar accuracy.

In contravention of all established rules of order, Motsognir deals out more damage than anyone else in the party this round. Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

Viper's Strike: 13 damage to Infectious Zombie. Nuts to your 4th wall, says I.

Freed of its paralysis, the zombie that was flung into the doorway creeps up on Gabriel and gums away harmlessly at his platemail. It is a pathetic sight. The one Gabriel just attacked turns on him as well, its rotten teeth clanking sadly against his crunchy metal shell. The zombie embracing Argumentus, meanwhile, bangs its teeth against his impenetrable skull. It is a sad day for zombies everywhere.

Not only were there more zombies behind door number two, these ones were flinging lumps of goo! Surely this was the biggest test of our skills yet.

I felt my skin tingle with eldritch energy as I gathered my will. Pointing my staff at the newcomers, I unleashed another blast of flame into the group, laughing maniacally as the fire erupted around them. Entranced by the flames for a moment, I stared into the maelstrom, fancying that the reflection must look really cool in my goggles.

Snapping out of my reverie, I ran and dived behind the bar. I didn't want any unseemly acid burns in my robe after all...

Flame burst at the new group, move north and dive behind the bar (actually dive so I'm prone and out of line of sight behind it)

The herculean humanoid managed to tear away from his zombie hug-aggressor and send the creature sliding across the floor with his shield. Without looking up from the zombie directly in front of him, Gabriel swung his axe to the side, looking to sever the creature's head before it even had time to come to a complete stop. He slowly pulled away from the menacing creature before him, beckoning the creature to follow him with a slight wave of his axe. The smell of death was heavy here, and Kord's will was for him to purge these beasts from foul memory.

Brigid sears the nearest zombie with Melora's contemptuous gaze. The creature shrieks in horror, and the vile slime seems to recede momentarily back into its body.

Daunting Light: 11 damage to Corruption Corpse. Combat advantage granted to... whoever attacks it next, I guess.

Ewan serves out some pain! He prepares a dish of dismay! He cooking-related pun!

Frying Pan: 4 damage to Infectious Zombie.

Arg finally manages to free himself from the Worst Hug Ever, planting his pick in the floor and using the leverage to kick the zombie away. The rotten thing sprawls to the floor, alone again (naturally).

Sure Strike: 4 damage to Infectious Zombie. Shield Slam connects; Infectious Zombie pushed and knocked prone.

Bob once again heaps fiery abuse on the pustular newcomers before making like a dwarf and going prone next to a liquor cabinet. Many of the burns seem almost to seal themselves over as the black slime oozes over them. The nearest one, interestingly, seems to be deprived of this benefit as a consequence of Melora's light.

Flame Burst: 8 damage to Corruption Corpse, Corruption Corpse. 14 damage to Corruption Corpse (Critical Hit; bloodied. No zombie weakness in this case, sorry).

Gabriel hacks away at the loneliest zombie, killing it! No, wait.

Bolstering Strike: 13 damage to Infectious Zombie. Infectious Zombie challenged.

The slimy zombies shamble into the main room, flinging clots of ooze at everyone they can reach. Brigid takes the worst of it, but Gabriel is also hit. Motsognir's quick reflexes allow him to smack the incoming glob away with a stool. The heavy slime seeps over the limbs and burns the flesh, making the basic acts of self-defense arduous and tiring.

Corruption Corpse, Corruption Corpse regenerate 5 HP.
Mote of Corruption: 13 damage to Brigid; weakened (save ends).
Second Chance Reroll: Still hits. 10 damage to Brigid; weakened (save ends)
Mote of Corruption: 8 damage to Brigid; bloodied.

Motsognir steps down the pace of his axe swings a little bit. The last thing he wants is to seem like some kind of significant threat. That just brings on all the wrong kinds of attention.

Viper's Strike: 4 damage to Infectious Zombie

The ragged remnants of the first wave of zombies make another futile-seeming rush with their snapping jaws. By pure luck one of them gnaws through one of the leather straps holding together his scale mail, and greedily sinks its teeth into his beefy forearm.

Infectious Bite: Miss. AP, Infectious Bite: 11 damage, Argumentus contracts Cemetery Rot.

Initial Effect: The target cannot regain hit points from powers that have the healing keyword. (Just about everything other than Second Wind, looks like).

Not only were the new zombies throwing slime at us, they seemed to regenerate damage and a fire burst to the head that would have killed a normal zombie had very little effect on them. As my childhood friend Illias Flowerkin had so often exclaimed when the head master came for after dark dorm inspections, we were fucked.

My evasive manouver had spared me from the onslaught of goo and I peered nervously over the bar, appraising the situation. It looked like I had over-estimated my companions' ability to kill the zombies they were engaging and they were still tied up in a swirling melee. Without them engaging the slime flingers to restrict their slime flinging, we would all be dead sooner rather than later. I was about to gather my will and deliver my devastating acid arrow attack on the newcomers when it occured to me that shooting acid at creatures that shoot acid was probably borderline retarded and would only cause the gods to laugh at me.

I had to free up the lads but it was near impossible to target just the zombies in the melee with a fireball without hitting my firends. Instead, I opted for the more precise ice magic, hoping to take out one of the slime throwers and one of the more run of the mill zombies at the same time.

Stand up, Icy rays on yellow corruption corpse and whatever zombie is still standing and looks healthiest out of the other group after Arg's had a pop at them
