... why is it that Tatsunoko supplied all the great characters but Capcom keeps fucking up with some real garbage on their roster. Soki? Volnutt? Motherfucking Roll? Jesus.
|
Lool, it's not even Roll Casket to go with Megaman Volnutt. Nice, Capcom!
|
You got a point. Now I wish they would add certain characters from Sengoku Basara X...
|
I'm still holding out for Samurai Pizza Cats. It would be so wrong not to include them. Well, I guess it would actually be Kyatto Ninden Teyandee, but whatever.
|
I wish they'd add more characters from Project Justice..

Official Wii Sticks

The L / R buttons are not analog. |
But, is it true that the game only uses 4 buttons: weak, medium , hard and assist? Punches and kicks depend on the direction you are pressing(like command moves)
And if anyone cares, Chun-Li got Shichisei Senkuu Kyaku back :) (the MvsC air special were 5 symbols would pop up and then the background flashes crazily ) |
The game only uses 4 buttons, but no fighting stick is gonna be put out these days with just 4 buttons. It looks like Hori did that stick again (like I need another fighting stick from them that isn't an HRAP), so you won't be seeing any throwback to SNK any time soon.
|
Hori already has a Wii fighting stick for $50, just an FYI.

Eh, the NeoGeo Stick I'd heard of, I forgot to mention it. Mainly because it's shit. Either way, Exar? Never heard of em.
|
Besides the Hori and Exar there's one other choice, the Shaft..

And so we enter the new week with 3 new characters. One from Tatsunoko and the other Two from Capcom.
Tatsunoko : Ippatsuman http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_u16Mk7z9Zd...90x%5B1%5D.jpg Capcom : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_u16Mk7z9Zd...480%5B1%5D.jpg Saki - You probably dont remember but she was in MVC as an assist character. Up to this day..I'm reminded of Armitage The Highlight : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_u16Mk7z9Zd...480%5B1%5D.jpg http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/vj1.jpg http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/vj2.jpg Viewtiful Joe They still have time to have more characters.. Keep it comin'! |
*BUMP*
Got to play this for a few hours last night. Seems really cool so far, once I got used to playing with 3 attack buttons and on a GC controller. Seems like everyone has at least something halfway decent going for them...I was kicking ass with Roll (her life gain super is a bitch to deal with) and I was able to pick up on Saki pretty quick. Can't really differentiate the Tatsunoko cast, but Karas was easily the most popular/abusable (although people kept doing this counter super and ate a projectile super every time...heh heh). There was another guy whose lance super did like 10-15 percent chip damage and was pretty unavoidable. Morrigan is really good this time around, while Megaman has some potential (his buster is weaker compared to the Marvel games...he loses charge if he gets hit and regular shots don't negate other projectiles. His new drill super is beastly though...Basically a really good Shinryuken) Alex seems cool...You fight pretty close in this game, so he gets a lot of grab opportunities and his down+strong (the dive move) stuns the opponent for a free hit. Only bad character to me seems to be the Onimusha guy so far...Very slow and ineffective, kinda like Hoahmaru from CvS 2, except much worse. Other things to note: -Supers are slow to come out. They were getting stuffed a lot. There's also some (Morrigan's missile attack) that seem to be solely used for chip damage, as no one would ever be dumb enough to be hit by them. -Jumps are very low. It's REALLY hard to jump over fireballs. -One screwy thing...The giant Capcom robot can infinitely throw an opponent into the corner and there's really nothing you can do to get out of it. It's really stupid...We tried for five matches to get out of it, but you just can't. -One assist per character, but there's a large gap of time between when you can call them again. They seem pretty good so far, so there's probably room for abuse, but no Strider/Doom full life chip nonsense. -The boss is pretty tough. It's no Abyss, that's for sure. This one can actually kill you if you're not careful. -Tags are reasonably safe. Even if you block the tag, you only have time to open a combo with a weak attack (unlike Marvel, where you died if you did a predictable tag). If you connect with the tag, you pop the opponent into the air, but there seems to be little chance to follow-up. I only did it once and that was in the corner (forgot who I was using). -The music is totally kickass oldschool Capcom fare. Wasn't expecting remixes of the Capcom character's themes, but they're definitely there. Couldn't hear, but the music changes when you tag or when someone dies. Really fits the flow of the fight (unlike, say, MvC 2 where the shit just drones as characters die left and right). |

-------------------- And what were you playing the game with, Goldfish? |
Sucks about Soki. I'm a pretty big Onimusha Dawn of Dreams fan myself =/
|
Most of Goldfish's overview wasn't worth taking seriously, Toku. Haohmaru isn't "very slow and ineffective" in CVS2, so Goldfish pretty much outed himself there, provided you know what to look for. Anyway, the only significant thing I've seen with the game thus far is that Viewtiful Joe has a glitch similar to Gambit from Marvel vs Capcom 2 which sends him slowly floating off screen after an air combo (variable combination or some such). Kinda sucks to hear for Joe fans.

There's how it's done. And...
That's how the USER can escape it before it's too late. It could be annoying as fuck if you get it used on you and the timer is going. I'm pretty sure it'll be regulated somehow in tournaments. |
That doesn't look all that clever. You would have thought that might have been a bug caught in testing, though evidently not. But yeah, if someone can use that to effectively get a few hits in and then become untouchable for the rest of the round, someone out there is going to abuse it.
|
Rotor! That happened to me like twice. A mega crush would do the trick lol. But oh well..

What I saw from anyone using Soki was nothing good and no one picked him outside of the random select, but maybe once we...you know...figure out how he works properly after it's been out for awhile, things might change. But of all the characters I saw, I thought he was the worst (although no one knew how to use the Tatsunoko chick in the black suit either). His thread over at SRK sounds interesting at least. And I have NEVER seen a good Hoahmaru at any tournament for CvS 2 I've been to, or in casual play for that matter. Do you know any top players (non-Japanese preferred) that uses him effectively? |
I gotta say. I have no problem with this game at all. I am glad on how they altered the switching where you gotta wait til your assist button is up and ready. Lots of idiots love to switch back and forth as a cop out but not anymore xD. Most of my friends use at least all the characters. Thank god no one rapes the shit out of Karas cause not only is he a great character but he's too overrated . The better part of it all is that most of karas' combos don't connect with certain characters.. (obvioulys Gold Lightan and PTX) but Daimou as well.
Other than that, this "slow" shit I'm hearin is not a big deal at all. Just enjoy the game and make the best of it. It's too early to criticize it other than pointing out the glitches ^^;. Crazy combos have yet to be invented so we'll expect that sometime in the future. |
Goldfish:
I came off as condescending, so you have my apologies there. However, saying things like "Soki isn't that good like Haohmaru" just sends off a few warning signs. Read: It's really stupid to call Haohmaru bad because he's "slow." Because that's not the reason at all. I realize you want to give impressions, and there's no way to say this without sounding like an ass, but we're all scrubs here. Even me. I'm not on the pulse of fighting games and how to play, but I've been around enough to know who also isn't going to be saying anything of worth about the game. Saying something is "really good" or "not good" while playing on a GC controller is honestly not worth taking seriously. And I mean no personal offense by that. It's the truth. You're not giving impressions that aren't worth hearing because you're "stupid" or "a bad person." You're giving impressions that aren't worth hearing because you don't know the game yet, and because of that, your impressions as to what is "good" and "bad" are relative only to you. You're not playing on a stick, you're getting hampered by shenanigans (throwing), saying Karas is a beast, and saying someone is slow and ineffectual, all while you're at level where you don't really know the game yet. If you aren't playing the game with the kind of knowledge or resources that most competent players have then no, your input or impressions aren't going to be worth much. Mine aren't worth much either, regarding this game, so I'm right there with you. Quote:
There's Justin Wong doing reasonably well against some of those folks. Though the guy he fought was in P-Groove, so that's one huge barrier (roll canceling) out of the way. It probably isn't recent at all given that he chose Mai and Haohmaru of all people. Haohmaru in K-Groove was something abused way back when because he had ridiculous priority on his normals and could pressure you into guard crush and submission with his Fierce/Hard Slash. Now that Roll Canceling is about, he's too much risk and no reward for most players. Unless you're buktooth, or something. |
Just got the game recently and it's been a lot of fun to mess around with. Definitely one of the best-looking games on the Wii. Hopefully TvC does well enough that Capcom will give some serious consideration to making a sequel/localizing it (though that's partially out of their hands).
I really gotta get a GCN or classic controller, though. I've resorted to using the wiimote sideways to play the game because the wiimote+nunchuk configuration has got to be the worst control setup ever. Also, why is this 'arcade'? It should be Wii or Multi instead. |
