Umm, stretched from 1280x720 to 1920x1080. The file is bigger but the source video is still 720p.

The trailer on PSN is in fact better, since it is in 1080p. I tried the 360 and hoped that it would be 5.1, but it isn't.

Speaking of which, call me stupid for thinking that this would probably be real...but Mega...who put that "Popeye's chicken" Sign in the back of your bottom signature?

Fit's in perfectly, in my racist little world :D

Forsety Jul 28, 2007 02:01 AM

Stretched is a bad word, more like upscaled from 720 to 1080 -- aka, not as good looking as a native 1080 video would look but still nice(r) for those of us who use 1080p displays.

I didn't know that, I thought it was the other way. Actually a game that is made with the idea of being multi-platform will probably look almost identical on both console, mainly because they'll do it for it to work on both console. The only thing that might differ is on "special effect" like I think the 360 can support more particles than the ps3 and the ps3 does other thing better than the 360. it will probably be minor thing that will distinct both version.

Slayer X Aug 1, 2007 10:13 PM

Well it depends on the invicidual engines and how they're programmed that decides which version is better. Ypu can't just say that system A is better at something then system, when the potential of these systems being used right now are probably something like 360 -> 75% and PS3 -> 50%. Devs still have no clue how to use dual-core, nevermond triple or octa-core. Once tools are designed to use these cores and power efficiently THEN and only then will we know the limitations of each system.

Either way though, a game has to have a source build and that means that it therefore has to be on one system before it can be worked on for the other. That's just how things are. Also things are in the VERY early stages where developers are starting to use the PS3 for their source builds due to more cores and the Blu-Ray and then porting the game to the 360. So by the time RE5 is in the Alpha stage to run on console hardware I would guess that running things on a PS3 first will almost be common practice. (for mukti-plat games)

Also I'd like to (unfortunately) bring up that RE5 racisim thing up once again. Or should I say, Kym Platt would like to bring the subject up.

"For many people the trailer for Resident Evil 5 was seen as an exciting new direction for the definitive survival horror franchise. For others, it's racist hate mongering at its worst. Kym Platt at Black Looks, a blog dedicated to exploring issues concerning African women, expresses her concerns over the trailer which depicts Chris Redfield in what appears to be an African setting, struggling against a horde of black zombies." -Kotaku

"This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young... fearing, hating, and destroying Black people." -Kym Platt

And the gaming community laughs because she doesn't know what's going on. Who want's to e-mail this poor soul and inform her as to what's going on? LMAO

@Solis
It should only stretch to 1080 if you have the system set to 1080. Since the 360 runs in 720 natively, the system would not run the cideo in 1080 otherwise. Unless you're trying to say that CAPCOM or Microsoft originally took the 720 video and made it 1080 native which is just stupid and therefore all involvel should be shot in the stomach and burned alive.

That actually seems to be exactly what they did, since the video is 1920x1080 but the game itself runs at 1280x720. If you look at the two videos on gamersyde, the one captured from the PSN is in 1080p.

But the trailer on the Xbox Live marketplace seems to be at 720p (as it should be) while the one on the PSN seems to be 1080p. No idea why they wouldn't put the same resolution video on both sites, especially when 720p is its native resolution.

Hay guys don't you think that his upper arms are way too unrealistic. Is he representing the anabolics industry or what.

Yep, looks more like a porn star than a game character.

Gechmir Aug 2, 2007 08:58 AM

Given the size of his arms and shoulders, Chris better be able to disembowel zombies with one quick jab~

Slayer X Aug 2, 2007 09:06 AM

Don't really see the problem. It's called art-style. Same goes for Gears of War and Unreal Tournament. I don't see what the big deal is. It may be unrealistic, but then again it's a video game and they have to do some things with the way graphics are going now a days otherwise all games would end up looking the same. And yes... that's bad.

Sorry for the bump.

This week's Famitsu magazine came bundled with a special edition DVD on Capcom. The DVD features an interview with the producer of Resident Evil 5, Jun Takeuchi. They show some brief gameplay footage from RE5, Chris' character model and a few firearm models. Anyway, as you could likely expect, the video's already on the Internets.

LS Mar 27, 2008 06:23 AM

they reused Re4's animation but then again its just on the production stage.

RE4 was good and all but they need to add something new to the game, and enemy boiling down to nothing doesn't justify any new features.

Tagonist Mar 28, 2008 03:42 AM

I dunno, RE4 was so insanely good, I could live with a pure cosmetic update (=> shinier graphics, new levels, new weapons, same gameplay) for the next game.

'Sides, it IS still deep in production AFAIK. When is it coming out? Last time I checked they aimed for somewhere in 09...

Gametrailers.com - Resident Evil 5 - Captivate 08 Trailer

New trailer.
Looks more and more like 4 with more glitz and enemies. Which is totally fine, as long as they manage to implement some minor changes like... The ability to move while shooting. Though the trailer doesn't seem to imply that happening. Meh.
It's still going to be a very good game. The RE4 formula is good enough to be used again is it is.

Syndrome May 31, 2008 06:25 AM

They even reused the shoot-driver-bus-falls-over from RE4 :tpg:
Judging from all the trailers we've seen, it looks like you're up against a lot of enemies at the same time. I wonder if ammo will be as scarce as usual, and you have to rely on hiding/escaping/using environment or if Capcom wanted to make Chris into Rambo.

Tagonist May 31, 2008 07:34 AM

Ammo was supposed to be scarce in RE4? o_Ô
Okay, maybe if you really missed many, many shots.

Frolov May 31, 2008 08:03 AM

It's still badass, although it uses the Biohazard 4 formula...
But this brawny Chris in Biohazard 5 is real bad-ass! Love him!
Can't wait to get my hands on this game....

Gechmir May 31, 2008 09:33 AM

I enjoyed RE4 quite a lot =D It didn't feel as creepy as past RE games (since main character was already such a badass).

However, I have no idea why they make Chris look like he's on roids. Should've toned it down a few inches on the biceps :( Nice voice acting so far =D Better than RE4's

Identity Crisis May 31, 2008 12:37 PM

It basically looks like they stuck with the RE4 formula but with a new look. They even brought back the chainsaw fiends with the bags over their heads and everything! Gulp.

Possible RE4 spoiler:
It also seems that the parasites used to make the "zombies" are force fed rather than injected like in RE4. They still look like the same parasites judging from the head-exploding action around 1:12.

Gechmir May 31, 2008 01:02 PM

Major props for the thread-title change ='D

28Link May 31, 2008 02:33 PM

I saw the trailer, and it pretty much looked like a combination of RE4, better graphics, and a dash of Dead Rising thrown in. Looks neat, and I think it's funny that the RE hardcore fans that said the plague stuff from RE4 made it un-RE will be sorely disappointed. Still, I hope they make another game that is more like the pre-RE4 games, since they did have their own unique things that were lost in the upgrade.

What's the problemo with the new look of Chris? He's badass to the outmost!
Do you prefer him like he was in Biohazard Code Veronica or like he was in Biohazard? Because I really don't, now that I've seen him in Biohazard 5....
He is created in the motif of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the motion picture "Predator".

By the way this is the japanese version of the trailer.

Huh?

Last I checked, before RE4, your character controlled like a fucking tank, the puzzles were minor variations on "Use keys to open doors and/or do an irritating logic puzzle", there was no camera control to speak of and the voice acting was horrid.

There's a reason none of those were in RE4. Because they are bad things.

Protip: It's always been called Biohazard in Japan.

No title change. :tpg:

Mo0 --
He's talkin' about the thread's name being changed~ =0 OR DID YOU KNOW ALREADY? =[

Frolov --
He just looks ridiculously roided up :( BIGGER BICEPS = MORE TO CHEW ON. You're a fuckin' liability, Chris~

I just have to add this.

Is it just me, or did Resident Evil take a TON from early hollywood movies from the 90's? I can think of a few right off the top of my head, but I have always found it odd how much Chris Redfield on the cover of the first Resident Evil..looked like the male lead from Speed.
