Well, he did awake in 1925, at 47° 9' S, 126° 43' W without the world coming to an end, so he might have continued his slumber.

All I can say is that I'm seeing this the first day it comes out, no matter what it is. The hype they're building around this movie is really, really, really creepy. It makes me tingle a little bit inside. I just really wish it was a Cthulu movie where everyone in the world dies at the end, but I doubt that's going to be the case. Still, I remain hopeful. Quote:

Sorry, but I'm not going to fall for the hype. Clever marketing, yes, but in the end, it WILL be the monster invasion edition of Blair Witch. But actually, I don't think there's any real proof that the movie will be in "handycam" vision at all...they could have just used that concept to create an amusing trailer.
In any case, I'd much rather wait for something like AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, who Del Toro is supposedly doing after Hellboy 2. |

I'm not sure why people keep comparing this to Blair Witch, from what i seen on the trailer the thing looks to be pretty high-quality as far as hand-held cameras go. I really doubt it's going to be ANYTHING like Blair Witch in terms of cinematography, which caused massive headaches.
Also the trailer freaked me out, I hate it when they seriously hype up a huge secret plot/monster, and leaving you wanting answers. They better do a damn good job, I really hate to be disapointed in this situation. :D |

For some reason the monster's scream reminded me of the "Bloop"...
But then again that might only be because I had something about this being a Cthullhu movie... I haven't watched Lost, so is it possible that this is a Lost-movie? For a second there I thought of a Metal Gear Solid movie, with the "monster" being Arsenal... Would somewhat fit Abrams portfolio with Alias and M:I 3. Whatever it is, they got a pretty neat marketing campaign going. As to the Year Zero theory, I don't think so... Trent's remark was probably just metaphorical in being about "a movie not yet made...". |
Did anyone see the new poster? This is one of the three:

Just saw the preview to this, at first I thought it was gonna be a lame love/chick flick or something. Looks really cool
Im sure its not godzilla... but its gotta be some type of monster/alien |
New trailer appeared before Beowulf.
It's on Youtube (it's a shitty recorded version, kinda loud) YouTube - 1.18.08 cloverfield trailer (2) Paramount's been taking these down left and right. The film is actually called... Cloverfield The embedding has been disabled. :( |
Just got back from Beowulf and saw the trailer. It was alright definitely didn't have the same impact as the first. Then again they showed nothing of the beast, so I guess that could be why.
Officially titled "Cloverfield", heh don't really see why you needed to tag it dagget as your link gave the away the title too. |
Well it had been "fan subbed" Project: Cloverfield for ages, I just tagged it incase someone had a stick up their ass saying it was a spoiler. :P
|
Well, I guess it's hard to push another hype-inducing trailer like the first one after, well, the first one.
I'd hate them to unveil the beast in a trailer. Way too many trailers out there giving away everything (Golden Compass, Beowulf, I'm looking at you!) so you basically don't need to go watch the movie if you were lucky and got the trailer before some other film... Still appears interesting enough for a "monster movie" though. |
What if they don't even show the monster at all? Wouldn't that be a huge disappointment. HAHAH. But this reminds me of American Godzilla (GINO). Everyone was so hyped to see how he looked since he wasn't shown in the trailers but a lot of people were disappointed. But this is a bit different, there's no name for the monster so there's no way for anyone to anticipate what kind of monster it'll be.

Just like the Rabbit's Foot in M:I 3. |
Hey guys, just thought I'd come in here and tell you that the second trailer has been released on several websites in a higher resolution.
Go watch it some time you pause the screen at 1:29. I'll wait until some of you do it before I start discussing it. |
|
Is it just me, or are there several humans in the trailer that looks... odd? I mean, like they have extra parts or scales or something attached to them?
|
I swear on the new trailer I can see something and it looks like the monster...
But I can't really tell because I don't have my glasses for the next couple weeks. :( It's right near the end of the trailer where the bridge is going up in the sky. In the back near the middle of the screen I THINK I see something. I'm not sure of the exact time stamp because my player doesn't show it. Upon further squinting I see that it may just be a piece of the bridge but ah who knows. |

It's there. Briefly. In part. I want it to be Cthulhu THIS MUCH. |
Me too.
If only because I'll get to tell all my friends "See I told you bad ass this monster is!" Honestly though... that monster doesn't look much like I would imagine Cthulhu looking... as a matter of fact, it looks sort of like a lizard. If this is a Godzilla movie I think I would CRY. |
It's actually FFX the movie. Big seamonster with scales? Sin.

Looks like a piece of the bridge to me as well. Too uniform to be a monster. Quote:
http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/9...4220714qe3.jpg Regardless, I'm pretty sure this will be a day-one-see for me. I love the notion of the unknown making its way into movies again. Too many fucking movies have to make the payoff blatant and ridiculous because it leaves nothing to the imagination. I imagine if the monster does make an appearance in the film, it will be with a specific purpose in mind, rather than just for the sake of pleasing the audience. |

Go and watch the trailer again, and when it gets to around 1:10 to 1:20 mark, as the soldiers are running by, in the background there is a screen, where it seems two men are dragging a screaming woman...and just before it cuts out, her abdomen like, expands as if something is bursting from it. At least that's what the shadow looks like. Yeah, Skexis got the picture right, just not at the right part. The second one. |
The military guy with his face blurred out says something like "There's nothing we can do for her now," and it seemed like he was talking about the woman who was chained to the wall nearby.
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/7...4222119aw2.jpg It's possible the monster will have parasite children or minions, which would make sense for the underground subway chase. My gut is telling me that it's just a trick of the light, though, and the film will be used to talk about the way the military reacts to an unknown invading force. (Quarantine, by choice or by force!) |
