"...Neversoft has already announced that even some well-known bands that have been announced for this installment ..."

You mean like DragonForce ;)

Also the international tracks that will appear in Europe's career mode, will be bonus tracks on the american game. There had better be Ramstein *shakes fist*

Lastly the only shitty bonus song in GHII is ("Yes We Can" kill ourselves after listening to this) which I refuse to buy and is the only thing keeping me from the all songs unlocked achievement. But yes the rest rock. Light that Blinds, Jordan, Push Push, Thunderhorse, Trogdor, ... all ROCK!!!

You know, that track wasn't all THAT bad but godDAMNIT was it boring as fuck to play on Medium. You have to play that thing on Expert if you want to get more than a few hundred strums at the guitar and I agree; it IS the worst song in the game. They had a better selection in the first game though (Farewell Myth) so at least we know the band itself isn't a total waste of vinyl space.

Well (the bands/songs I already knew I liked aside) the bands I didn't know or hadn't heard in the main setlist (which, admittedly, was quite a few) generally had good songs, while I was torn between buying new outfits/characters/guitars and what I heard of the bonus songs. Does that count as musical knowledge?

Nothing against indie labels, I'd just rather increase my chances of finding songs I like and want to play in the game.

wvlfpvp Sep 2, 2007 07:14 PM

I ONLY LIKE MUSIC I'VE HEARD BEFORE!

BlueMikey Sep 2, 2007 07:28 PM

I was just thinking that it would be nice if there was a non-rock genre version of the game released sometime. I'm thinking like a jazz/blues version, with some Pat Metheny, some George Benson, some Django Reinhart, B.B. King, etc., etc. I know there was a Stevie Ray Vaughn on the first one, but I'd like to see a whole non-rock sequel.

wvlfpvp Sep 2, 2007 07:42 PM

SRV is blues/rock, not strictly blues.

Slayer X Sep 2, 2007 07:45 PM

Either way, due to the amount of time it takes to make a game (about 1 year) and since Rock/Metal is already a proven money maker I don't think you'll see a specific blues/roch Guitar Hero, but hey, you never know what songs are going to be announced next for the core series.

Krelian Sep 2, 2007 08:44 PM

Well I've heard that the EU version will have Helloween as one of the "exclusive" artists.

Better have some FUCK YEAH \m/ Scandinavian shit, too.

Golfdish from Hell Sep 2, 2007 09:00 PM

I was hoping for something along the lines of GH Encore: Neoclassical Shredfest (Marty Friedman, Malmsteem, Becker, Satriani, etc). That'd be some serious fun.

Fuck, lucky bastards. Everytime I hear "We Damn the Night" or "I'm Alive", I think how perfect they'd be for GH. Or better yet..."Seven Keys". 13 minutes of hand-cramping goodness.

For some reason, this quote reminds me of the logic of the clock loop when modding an Xbox. *shrug*

Lukage Sep 2, 2007 11:24 PM

Goldfish, I think one of the points of the game is to let people play along to titles they know and love, not to sell some artist's generic "rock" song. I could list a hundred Classic Rock artists that would go well with the game.

Slayer X Sep 2, 2007 11:53 PM

You could list a million. However the problem isn't a lack of songs, it all depends on how cooperative music labels are in giving the rights to Activision to let them use their songs.

I...don't understand what this is in response to. If anything, I agree with this statement (which is why I said I'd rather see "familiar" bands than indies).

It was in response to your reply to wvlfpvp. And I don't just mean a bunch of overrated AC/DC songs. Dueling banjos, for Christ's sake. Led Zeppelin, etc. You'd think that with the size of a DVD or Blu-Ray disk, they could put TONS of songs on these. Cramming it full of songs we've never really heard of isn't what most people want. Yes, some hardcore players will want something challenging, but the majority of people playing simply want songs that they're familiar with.

Didn't I basically say that?

(I think wvlfpvp was being sarcastic, in response to my "no-name" bands comments...My clock-loop response just treated that literally, since you can't discover something new if you keep listening to the same thing obviously)

And...AC/DC is not overrated. ;)

wvlfpvp Sep 3, 2007 10:09 AM

Yes they are. I just want Thunderstruck on there because it'd be fun to play.

Paco Sep 6, 2007 11:38 PM

Fuck yeah it'd be fun as fuck to play! I mean, shit... I STILL hate Guns 'N Roses, but I'll be damned if Sweet Child 'O Mine isn't one of my favorite tracks to play in GHII~

Slayer X Oct 18, 2007 07:39 PM

For thoes interested. You can either download via BitTorrent or copy someone else's GH3 demo disc of the GH3 demo for the 360 (either the Tony Hawk: Proving ground, or OXM's December issue's disc). That's right. You can play a burnt copy of the demo without having to actually mod your console. How cool is that?

So what are you waiting for? Go find a means to download this hot piece of free content.

Golfdish from Hell Oct 18, 2007 08:18 PM

Woohoo...Midnight release on the 27th, along with a tournament at Gamestop.

On the other hand...Boo! No PS2 demo! Although, I like the look of the wireless guitar for the PS2 more than the Les Pauls on the other systems. If I burn through my GH2 SG Gibson, I have a solid alternative. Although, on second look, that select button looks awfully close to the whammy bar...

And finally...BOOO! We go from 2 confirmed Velvet Revolver songs to...none. Guess a confirmation from Duff isn't good enough. I wish they'd confirm the final song list (hoping they get the rumored Megadeth song)

I think that should be "The Metal," fine sir

espressivo Oct 21, 2007 07:12 PM

Sweet, cliffs of dover is in. That'd be so fun to play, too bad its not the original recording though.

Krelian Oct 21, 2007 07:31 PM

I'm assuming that doesn't include the bonus tracks. Hoping. Assuming. Hoping.

There's a video floating around of the guys from In Flames playing their song at some Swedish gaming event, it's pretty rad! They're not very good at it.
