I would change my name if it wasn't so hard to do. Cause you have to look at all the legal stuff and all the phone calls and form you have to fill.

I don't like my name cause it sounds old. Like a person from the 30's.

So I ask my friends to use a nickname derivated from my actual name.

But If I had to change it...I don't know which name I would choose....

I'm content with my 4 names... My first name isn't that common, well at least it wasn't growing up. My two middle names are after my two grandfathers, so I don't mind them. As for my surname, it is so uncommon that it would be a shame for me to throw away my family name.

I always used to hate my first name, Jesse, becuase people would always have either the gay feminine spelling, Jessie, or some other completely unheard of rarity like Jessy or Jesee. Rediculous. These days I don't really care as much about it, so I guess I'll go through life with Jesse.

Never thought about it. I have a lot of pride and respect for my parents and family, so I'd never disrespect them and change it.

yes, when I was young. Kids would make the usual stupid puns about it (it ends with the sound "e")

But now, considering its... rarity, i won't change it

Not at all. I like my name.

It's just that I prefer to be called by my middle name instead of the first.

I think about changing it all the time. I still do really.
I also think respect for family or whatever has little to do with it, it's just a name.

I love my name: Rex. I've never wanted to change it. However, my last name is sort of generic and boring. I always wanted to change my last name to the Irish (I believe) name O'Toole. How badass is that?

Lizardcommando Apr 18, 2007 09:02 PM

I thought about it a few times in elementary school. Seeeing how my first name is Clifford and there was that stupid big red dog who goes by that same name, you can guess why I wanted to.

Time passed by though and I just said, "Ehh, why bother changing it?"

I don't have your typical name..but, regardless of how annoying or irritating 'it' becomes, its part of ur identity... i mean, I can't imagine what things would be like if I changed my name... hmmm

and woudln't the change just make it awkward for everyone that knows u?

yeah, i'd change my name..but probably only my surname though. i was thinking i'd change it to "Gray" (u know, as in Jean Gray from X-men ^_^) but since my first name is Grace, it wouldn't really go :(

Chaotic May 29, 2007 02:04 AM

Probably to Vincent or something... My first name is pretty common and often mispelled because of different variations of the name. <.<

Also since two and three sylable names seem to roll well in my family.

How would a name change be disrespectful to your parents?

If my parents had a crappy taste in names, I'd change my name in a heartbeat. After all, I'm the one who has to live up to that name.

It's very amusing the amount of people who wanted to change thier names due to the intense dislike left by the legacy of thier fathers. For the longest time my last name - Gray - was something of a burden because I was the only one in my family with a different name. Had I not met my long lost brother when I did, should I have become older I seriously thought about changing it to the name of the family whom I grew up with. After that meeting though, things changed and while my feelings with myf ather are INCREDIBLY awkward, the feelings towards the other people who share the same last name has. The last names my brothers and sisters and I share wound up drawing us towards a common goal - namely the hardships we all faced because of him and thus, we decided to make our names represent something positive instead of the negative things its represented for so long.

I haven't thought much of name changing at all since this topic really, but it really did make me ponder the why's of it when all is said and done.

I like my name. The only downside to it is that so many people mispronounce it as a boy's name. :[

Spoiler:
My name is Julianne, pronounced Julie Anne, but it's often mispronounced as Julian. :gonk:
