Uh, I'm guessing they'll have to make another world for Bowser Jr. to be a boss in.
|
this looks like a fun game, though the title looks retarded!
i'm seriously considering buying a ds lite when it comes out here. this game and metroid prime hunters both look good enough to buy. Double Post: Quote:
it'd be cool if the koopa kids showed up in more games, like mariokarts. they'd have their own powers already (though some are admittedly retarded). |

As for Bowser Jr., I've always felt he was a piss poor replacement for the Koopalings. At least they looked different and cooler. I wish they'd just retire Bowser Jr. for good. |
WTF is the enemy in:

Mario is the true enemy of the series.
All of the "enemies" that you kill are simply protecting their natural habitat. |

Actually, it's been speculated that this was a lie by Bowser. Let's hope. |
People speculate on the plot of Mario games now?
On the topic of the game, though, the name is certainly original. I really appreciate them clearing it up. But the problem comes when another Mario game will undoubtedly be released, and then when you want to buy the new one, which one is truly the "new" game? This all bring back memories of trying to buy Robocod for Atari. It was somewhat of an oddity that I'd be buying a game anyways, since "copy protection" back then usually involved flipping though a 4 page game manual to look for a certain word. Photocopying the manual costed several cents! I was all hyped up for buying a game for real, but only because Robocod wasn't copyable. We called the store in advance to see if they had the game, and a man answered the phone. It wouldn't be unfair to say that his English was not his best language. In the end, we drove all the way over to the store only to find this man shoving Robocop 3 in my face. I just don't know if I can deal with that kind of heartbreak again. |

I mean, we all know that's the unstated reason why Bowser keeps running off with the princess, but... damn, Nintendo. |
I just hope that IF there are no koopalings that there won't be thousands of flaming topics on forums saying that the game sucks because "Nintendo promised the koopalings and didn't deliver". EDIT2: WTF... okay cancel that last edit. |
Wow, this looks cool. I love Mario games (except for Sunshine.) Too bad I don't have a DS.
|
It seems interesting from those few screens. I'll probably get the game for the series, since I've yet to be disappointed by a Mario game.
|
The game looks gorgeous. Wow. I never expected it to end up looking that good. That plus hearing about all of the design details that are going into it as well - the game exudes polish, which gives me a very warm, fuzzy feeling inside. On a related note, it's about time the fire flower came back.
I didn't want to get a DS, but with the new Lite and this, I think I'm going to have to cave. |
If I see the ultimate 1-up staircase Shell trick turn up in this sucker, I will cream my pants. Honestly, map screen, fire flowers, the REAL koopa kids, fortresses, map screen system, tons of levels, and everything we ever loved about Mario with modern visuals and classic prsentation.
This is a new rebirth for Mario. Game of the year for me. Hell, this sucker has the potential to kick Super Mario Bros 3's ass. I never thought I'd say that, but it does. |
ChroNova from Gamefaqs was kind enough to upload these pics from NP:

Sorry about the lens glare and the almost unreadable text. If anyone can upload better scans, I will remove these) Con of article: Wall jumping came from SM64, not SMS! Pro: EVERYTHING ELSE. AND OMFG DORRIE IS IN THE GAME. WIN. |
Oh wow, Bowser looks so damn cool in that screenshot! He sure looks decidedly evil, yay! Thanks for the pics!
|
Can someone tell me why that blue Pleisiosaurus with the water goggles is the coolest character in the entire series.

I hope they kept the SMS style of wall-kick-jumping (I prefer calling it that, sounds cooler), though. They made it a lot more intuitive in that game, somehow. I think it had a drag factor, which was nice.
This game is looking awesome. Like the equivalent of lubing up my DS and using the clamshell as an impromptu vagina. Except even better, because that's incredibly weird and would probably hurt a lot. |
When the hell will they learn to stop this 3D/2D integration escapade and realize that all they need to do is release a Yoshi's Island styled Mario title, then they can stop.
Come to think of it, why did Yoshi's Island kick so much ass on the SNES and GBA, but nobody followed through with a sequel? That game made me warm and fuzzy. I wonder if this game will be larger than SMW. |

Nah nah, Blargg is the coolest character in the entire series besides Bowser and the kids. I hope I hope I hope he makes a comeback in this game. |
I'd like to see the return of Bomb-omb, Big Boo, and especially Kamek.
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6...09900033ng.png And this guy. He's possibly one of the most awesome bosses ever created, and he should be used again. Of course they probably won't mix Yoshi's Island material with a new Mario Bros title, but I'll still hold out hope for certain characters to make an appearance. |
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island was just so late (actually was released in 1995, a year before the N64 and SM64) that it didn't receive much attention.
This is unfortunate because the style, new characters, and story in SMW2:YI made it one of the best in the series. It would be nice to see a return to the 'prequel' sequel's style and world. It was nice to see Baby Bowser in M&L:PiT, though. My favorite Mario character also came from M&L: The Tanoomba: http://sprites.fireball20xl.com/NSA/Icons/tanoomba.gif Perhaps we'll see more after NSMB! Yoshi's Island 2 done in 3D/2D would be cool, but only if they preserve the style. Oh yeah, and thanks for the screens! Can't wait to read the article. |
For those of you who won't bother to read the impossible to read pics above, I thought this might be of interest to you (also taken by ChroNova)
http://x11.putfile.com/3/7718151423.jpg This is mostly an approximation, I assume the actual number is around 72 or so. |
