This thread is filled with epic "HUH!?" and "WTF!?".

That translation isn't too bad. I just miss that line from Dracula: "What is a man!? A miserable little pile of secrets!?"

This is extra hilarious on my end because all I'm seeing is a bunch of boxes on this computer. Most people would be content to just romanize it into Akumajou Dracula, but there's Elixir (エリクシア), going that extra mile.

I don't think I'm going to be too happy about a pseudo-3D remake of Rondo of Blood, but as long as it's not too much trouble to unlock the original TG-16 game. Do you just have to beat the remake or what?

gamersara Oct 24, 2007 11:28 AM

unlocking:
Spoiler:
you need to find the hidden items in order to unlock the older games, one in STAGE 3 and the other in STAGE 4

map car man words telling me to do things Oct 24, 2007 05:18 PM

The fact that you can set the audio to Japanese and it affects both the Rondo of Blood remake AND Symphony of the Night would be fantastic enough, but they also have Norio Wakamoto voicing Dracula, making this the second greatest PSP game ever <3

chato Oct 24, 2007 06:04 PM

Any idea if there's a alternate costume unlockable? Though his design for DX was good, I prefer the good ol headband he wore..

Sin Ansem Oct 24, 2007 09:21 PM

I'm grateful for both Japanese installed on my comp and the fact that I can actually read a small bit of Katakana/Hiragana, or else this thread would've already had me weeaboo suicide by now.

gamersara Oct 24, 2007 09:23 PM

havn't heard of any alternate costumes, don't get your hope up

Yeah it's not too bad, but A MISERABLE LITTLE PILE OF SECRETS has a lot of sentimental value.

In any case, I don't own a PSP Slim so I cannot answer your question. Even if I had one, I don't have progressive scan so it wouldn't work on my TV anyway.

Maybe someone who is more familiar with PSP Slims and how they work with tv out can help you. My understanding is that it just upscales the image onto your TV at a maximum resolution of 640x480.

http://www.aullidos.com/imagenes/car...os/goblins.jpg, obviously.

Can't wait for Kai next year (at least I'm hoping they bring it over).

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but let's just say that if you're planning on unlocking Rhondo of Blood the original in this game, then expect to run the gauntlet because it's a pain and not something that you're likely to find without guidance. Odd really how RoB is so much harder to get then SotN.

uhh...^^;

Spoiler:
I went through stage 4 and obtained it at a certain spot where you jump over platforms . You hit the candles and boom.. The game is unlocked..

Slayer X Oct 25, 2007 05:27 PM

Are you bloody serious.
Spoiler:
My fault for listening to anything off gameFAQs I suppose. It said that you had to play stage 4 with the unlockable character from stage 2.

map car man words telling me to do things Oct 25, 2007 05:57 PM

I suppose they think it makes it easier, since she has a double jump.
I too unlocked both extra games without too much work, using Richter.

Playing as Maria makes the difficulty of the rest of the game slightly more tolerable, though.

Hell yes. Although FFT currently holds #1 for me, and would've probably knocked this down if it weren't for the slowdown.

That aint all. To get Symphony's

Spoiler:
If you go to Alternate Stage 3' , Just complete that whole cemetary stage and when you head to top where you fight that skeletal snake like monster who shoots flames, make sure you have the Axe equipped with you so you can cut off a green ball. It'll turn into a platform and good luck jumping your way through til you reach the end to hit a candle and viola, You obtained Symphony of the Night!

As for the remix songs. The first time I wasn't feeling it but in my second playthrough , I love it to death. Not bad since its done by the original team who did rondo. Michiru Yamane is part of it too I believe. I find it entertaining when you get to select your own tracks for the stages. Gives it more replay value that way.

map car man words telling me to do things Oct 26, 2007 08:32 PM

You don't need an axe, nor any item for that matter, to drop the green sack of whatever to make the platform. Just time it right when sommersaulting and you can hit it with your whip. Should be even easier with Maria.

chato Oct 26, 2007 09:49 PM

My timing sucks but it is easier. Another thing that bothers me are those red tentacles. Any idea on how to shut that shit off? It keeps regenerating.

Sexninja Oct 27, 2007 05:19 AM

After DS games this game looks shitsack.
Man the screen blurs while you move even in remake.
The graphics are horrible.
iga and his team should stick to animated stuff, they always do shit in 3D.

map car man words telling me to do things Oct 27, 2007 07:14 AM

Large part of the problem is the PSP's screen itself, though.
The refresh rate is simply not good enough, which is why I've never been too keen on watching videos on the PSP for that matter.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 27, 2007 10:12 AM

Since that is not coming from someone who has excellent taste in ICO, I can't take your word for it.

Anyway, once this game is gone from recent memory, IGA is supposed to announce the next DS Castlevania. That's what he said, anyway.

Location of Alt Stage 3 and Nun:

There is a Nun hidden in Alternate Stage 3 that will give you a necklace to break those bone towers. If you don't know how to get to Alt 3 then in Stage 2, when you're getting chased by the giant monster, drop through one of the pits and keep going down that path to fight a new boss. =)

The nun itself is hidden behind a breakable wall right under the first door you can go through (of course she only appears for Richter).

I'm loving the game so far. I don't know what you guys are talking about though, it doesn't seem blurry for me (or maybe I'm just ignoring it). Just got SOTN and original RoB and on Stage 6 of the remake.

Lacerta Oct 27, 2007 03:30 PM

If you pay really close attention to detail you can notice a blur maybe. It depends on what your retina judges as an acceptable refresh rate before it starts getting irritating and you notice blurs and flickers.

map car man words telling me to do things Oct 27, 2007 04:45 PM

For me, it's often difficult to spot the tiny enemies like the little bats that come at you at some of the stages because of the blur. They appear smaller than they are because you can't clearly see the outlines.

It's all perfectly playable of course, but for such an otherwise lovely screen, the refresh rate has always been a shame since it adds an annoying ghost trail to all movement, especially dark colors on light and vice verca.

WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

The only things that bother me are Richter, and Richter. I hate his somersault with every ounce of my body. That's nothing new though.
