The final version of MGS4 will look a bit better than the demo. But don't let that give you the impression that PS3 will actually be more powerful than 360.

Earlier, we mistakenly reported that Sony had confirmed plans to include the hard disk with the PS3 right out of the box. Kutaragi actually stopped short of confirming this, leaving it as an area of speculation for now. He did state that Sony hopes to avoid a situation where some systems have the drive and others don't (Kutaragi didn't mention Xbox 360, but he was probably thinking it).

Yeah, so basically, they're forcing you to buy it in order to play games. This reminds me of the time when I was forced to buy a modem for my PS2 if I wanted online gaming, which turned out to be dead so I didn't bother either way.

Same deal, eh?

We have to wait and see, whats catching my attention is that 4D concept,Kutagari mentioned.

And Eyetoy for PSP,enabling videophone features is super cool.

You need to have a modem to play games online? Unheard of!

This could always be more like the RAM cartridge that came out for the N64.

Maybe it'll be like the Xbox 360's HDD where you can store more maps for games or skins or something? If they're telling developers to make games assuming the HDD is present, we may see something more substantial than that though.

The hard drive will be required...if you want games to load as quickly as possible. It's as simple as that.

Hardly a reason for a game to require a drive, and it's unlikely that'll be the extent that it's used given what we've seen with the 360.

Well considering that the Gamecube already has a modem in it and the xbox is the same, I feel sort of cheated when Sony released the PS2 without one.

Megalith Mar 16, 2006 01:48 AM

Wow, I wonder what these Toycube modem adaptors are for.

Why, given that the specs were finalized in late 1999 and even when the console launched, broadband wasn't exactly the big thing it is now. Needless to say, Sony got caught with it's pants down during this transition.

Man, it even looks like God of War.

MGS4 was real-time. The only problem is that the game wasn't running any AI, any code, anything at all, except for the graphics. If the final PS3 isn't much more powerful than that devkit Kojima was using, I smell trouble.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes on this one. Yeah, because you happen to know for a fact that the demo shown was even making efficient 100% of the PS3 resources right? Maybe the demo was only using 2 of the 7 SPUs and adding AI and user input would not result a performance hit. Nobody really knows other than the developers and Kojima has already stated he expects the final game to look even better than the demo.

This looks graphically similiar to the PSP's Untold Legends (just a lot
smoother around the edges). Yea, it's just the team~ But still,
it's not terrible, it can be nice ^_^

Tequila Apr 6, 2006 10:35 AM

The graphics are not really ugly, they are okay... I guess. I just really despise this series, so I say some legends better stay untold.

Casaubon Apr 6, 2006 07:48 PM

How long you been waiting to pull that one out.
