Are there going to be a lot of Xbox360 players that plan to join after the release? Right now on Garuda we're getting some Xbox players that couldn't wait and bought the PC game. They're complaining that the prices are too high :p

Kasonyn Apr 12, 2006 07:01 PM

If your referring to the ones just coming over from the beta server, there would be probably about 5000 max, spread around FFXI's 16 or so servers, its not bad at all.

I dont see why they dont keep the beta server up and running, its all "isolated". But I guess some things are hard to find there. Whatever, though.

I just got my old character back, yay! :)

Soldier Apr 12, 2006 07:03 PM

I kind of hope the 360 version will draw in lots of new players. Yes, there's always the downside of more idiot players and rising AH prices, but it also means you'll find more people to help you with things.

For example, I'm currently on Bastok 9-1. Anyone in Midgard still need this? I might try to arrange a PT this Friday.

everything is roughly the same in price in relation to each other as their beta server, so the inflation is fairly irellavent. The only difference is now, vendor items are cheap as shit, as they don't inflate. Since I'm playing BRD right now, and i buy most my scrolls form vendors, its actually good for me :P

soapy Apr 13, 2006 01:10 AM

BRD is probably the cheapest job to play, which is kind of nice.

I don't think FFXI draws too many new people anymore, I am kind of glad that there will be some new players around, that means I can help out with lower level stuff and feel like I know something ;)

Inhert Apr 13, 2006 12:06 PM

in one week all you have to do is stay the hell away from valkurn dunes and i'll probably wait 1 or 2 month because trying the new job >.>

Shonos Apr 13, 2006 03:04 PM

Too many people complain about the prices. Things have gone up in price but so has everything else. Except for the high value stuff the normal equip and goods are still the same, just with more zeros.

They just see high numbers and dont realize that they're also making more. So instead of making 10k and buying a 5k piece of armor, they're making 20k and buying a 10k piece of armor.

New players actually have the capability to make more. I know when I started back when it came to North America it wasn't exactly easy to make cash. The new players have no idea how many crafters are waiting for them to dump all the crafting supplies into the AH as they level up. Too short sighted I guess.

Winter Storm Apr 13, 2006 03:07 PM

Back then when I started, 2,000G was considered rich, and water and earth were DIRT cheap. 100g and 200g respectively. Now that are x10 that amount.

Inhert Apr 13, 2006 09:42 PM

I still remember the astral ring at 100k >.> now they are 1m >.<

Winter Storm Apr 15, 2006 03:31 PM

During the inflation and when I was a WHM(quit at 70), everyone decided Erase was the only sure and quick way to get cash. 500,000, 600,000, 700,000(what I bought it for), 800,000, 900,000, topping 1.2 mil. All this did though was prove to me how lazy a lot of players are. During this period anyone could have made that much just farming rabbit hides(7,000). Wont work now though since everything has sinked to normal levels.

Inhert Apr 15, 2006 03:39 PM

lol during the inflation I was farming tree cutting like crazy, hey one stack of cutting was 500k! but now it's 100k it take a little more time XD

I bought it for 600k, not sure what it is now... but I feel bad for all the WHM who bought Raise III (which doesn't even benefit the player at all) for 2-3 million when now it's like 5k.

That's a lie. You get Maat's cap by beating Maat with every job. So you only have to get them to Level 66.

2 people on Ragnarok have a Maat's cap.

MagicalVacation Apr 20, 2006 01:37 PM

I've been wondering. If you play Final Fantasy XI Online for hours on end, does it use alot of bandwith? How much MB will you have downloaded? A rough estimate? Is it alot or not?

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Apr 20, 2006 02:01 PM

I want to point out that your first point is true. I feel bad for all those poor whms :(

But you fail to understand that RAISE III gets 90% of your EXP lost from dying back. This only effects people at high levels, when it really counts.

Doesnt really seem to take up that much bandwith for me...

Its a huge game though... not sure how much MB is downloaded, but the game use up several gig.

Shonos Apr 21, 2006 12:14 AM

I think it uses 56k like bandwidth. But I'm not really sure.

I do know this game will end up downloading alot when it comes time for updates. Which will eat up alot of bandwidth.

avanent Apr 21, 2006 01:10 AM

Ya, there are some people who play on 56k, they report updates as a pain in the ass, but seem to play the game ok.

I think you missed my point, I meant that it doesn't benefit the WHM (the person who BUYS the spell), you can't raise III yourself unless you hit 75 and get reraise III and that's a totally different spell. I just don't understand why people would spend 3 million on a spell for everyone else's benefit. And it only affects people over lvl 50.

Soldier Apr 21, 2006 01:45 AM

Has anyone purchased the expansion pack? I've had mine since yesterday, and spent both last night and tonight with my group exploring the new area. I've also unlocked 2 of the 3 jobs, and gave Puppetmaster a spin. The customization of the puppet has won me over, though Blue Mage has quite a bit of enticing spells.

Inhert Apr 21, 2006 11:38 AM

I was last year a 56k user and I was amaze at how well FFXI play on a 56k. You almost never get lag, only maybe in jeuno but it's normal >.> and the zoning is a little more longer but really not that much. But yeah the big problem was the update >.> just the first one (you know when you just install the game and you have to update it) at that time without even CoP (it wasn,t realease the first time I played FFXI) it took me 27h to download the update and this is non-stop because you can't resume your download >.> so yeah my phone was "busy" for a whole day >.< and I couldn't do anything with my comp because at that time I didn't have a computer strong enough to be able to play another game ith the POL in background XD so yeah update are hell on 56k but IG it's perfect.(god i'm glad to be on cable now XD)

for the expension, yes I have it and I love he new area ^^ the music is so good! we tried to do some job quest, but we died on the way because of 2 imp >.< and I was with a monk lv75 full merit with his af² and a blm 75 too, so those area are really dangerous XD well it was late, so we called it a day, I may tried again today ^^

avanent Apr 21, 2006 01:27 PM

I have finals over the next 3 weeks. Im avoiding it all at all costs. I dont need extra distraction >.>

Probably because reputations stick, and a lot of people care about their reputation.

Tortalius Apr 22, 2006 11:05 AM

and people will invite someone who has spells that help them.

the new jobs are a lot of fun. (Cor 13 at the time of this post)

soapy Apr 22, 2006 12:25 PM

I seirously doubt people will not invite you to a party because you don't have Raise III. Erase, yes.
