I can't give you a definitive view on it (because I don't know that much about Mahjong, aside from the few times I've played it on the computer), but I can tell you that I like what I played. I don't know if it uses traditional tiles for sure, but I think it does since they have flowers, dots, japanese characters, and stuff like that on them.

My only complaint is that some of the tile matches weren't exact (i.e. one of the matches was just two types of flowers, not the exact same flowers), which was a bit confusing (and resulted in me using a hint). But now that I know that, it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Freelance Oct 12, 2006 07:48 PM

That sure sounds like it, but just to be sure, here is an that shows the traditional layout with the traditional tile set.

Only the special tiles (flowers and seasons, 4 tiles each, 16 altogether) can be removed interchangeably. You'll get the hang of it if you play it enough. I only like playing with the traditional tiles 'cause they're nice to look at. I'd be disappointed if Clubhouse Games doesn't have this option.

Rockgamer Oct 12, 2006 08:21 PM

Yep, those are definitely the ones featured in the game, they're just not as detailed as the ones in that pic (for example, the flowers aren't colored in, it's just the outline of them).

And thanks for telling me about those tiles. Now they make sense to me (I guess I could have just read the rules (which seem to be pretty detailed for every game), but it slipped my mind at the time).

Freelance Oct 12, 2006 08:26 PM

Thanks for letting me know that the game uses traditional tiles, but you didn't mention anything about the layout. Is it like the one in the pic, or something else? I tend to like only that layout. Yes, I'm picky when it comes to Mahjong Solitaire :D

Rockgamer Oct 12, 2006 08:34 PM

Well, they have 10 different layouts, but unfortunately none of them are like the one in the pic (I don't think any of them are even close to the one in that pic). They do have a good variety between the ones that are there though (one of them even spells out the letters 'DS'), so maybe you'll find at least one you'll like.

Freelance Oct 12, 2006 08:45 PM

Aww well that's disappointing. I haven't heard of any related game that didn't have the traditional layout. Shame on whoever made this game! I find other layouts to be harder than the original one. Oh well, That's not a total loss. At least they kept the original tileset. I'd be pissed otherwise if they just had numbers or some other crappy set.

Regardless, there's over 35 other games I can sink my teeth into, like UNO. That game rocks, and it's multiplayer too. Awesome.

I gotta say, I liked playing through the Mahjong Solitaire on Stamp Mode.

At first, I failed 2 playthroughs of the Solitaire because I was just matching up random pairs. Then I realized you had to be strategic, matching only the pairs that would open up the rest of the pieces to be used (ex: making sure to get rid of top-most pieces first).

Picked this up today. Wow, the computer is awful at texas hold'em (of course that's the first game I check out).

Anyway, ready for some Nintendo Wifi orgies whenever. My friend code is 4424-6230-7751, and I'll put that on the wiki too.

DjMeas Oct 14, 2006 02:55 AM

This game is hawt, I <3 bowling so much. 160 is my top score so far, but I'm confident I can beat that. The rest of it is pretty awesome too =D

DjMeas Oct 16, 2006 06:43 PM

I find bowling rough because i can bowl better in real life lol ^_^''''

Balance is really fun on long games!

Turbo Oct 18, 2006 11:49 PM

Can I get a list of which games are online? I might pick it up if enough people are playing it, but for the single player, I havn't really picked up my DS for single play games in a while. Its all Wifi for me.

Or, you know...we could just organize a tournament here...with people we actually know and stuff...

Tails Nov 8, 2006 07:50 PM

Ahahaha, well I got this game the other day. So far so good. Of course I just bought it so I could play Solitare for hours on my DS.

Update: I'm a little upset that Mahjong Solitaire basically tells you what tiles are removable. I'd like to find that out for myself, thank you very much. I still play it though. I love this game.

Buizel Nov 9, 2006 02:15 AM

Here's my friend code for those who didn't see it on the other thread.

nazpyro Nov 9, 2006 04:00 PM

Yeah, the GFwiki admin closed new account creations because of abuse not done by me.

Anyway.. Oooooooooo AWESOME. New player! We had 7 last night when we played. You'd be 8. Can't wait for it to be OLDK again! :p

Kairyu Nov 9, 2006 04:23 PM

Well I got this game a couple weeks ago to help pass the time inbetween classes. Nice game though, I particularly enjoy darts =)

When the game starts just go into the options tab and turn off "hints." That should do the trick.

Freelance Nov 9, 2006 05:02 PM

@Kairyu: OMG THANK YOU!!!! It's stupid to have the hints turned on for this game.

I'll add you soon!
