Yeah, there are three 24: Declassified novels released so far, with at least two more scheduled to come out next year. As for the comics, 24: Nightfall is the fourth one to come out so far.

As for the plot of the game, the spoiler-free version is that it takes place between season two and season three, and basically it just involves Jack trying to stop another terrorist plot (and similar to the later seasons of the show, it involves stopping multiple plots rather than just one or two major ones). It's really there more or less to answer the questions between seasons two and three rather than give you a cohesive plot (though it does do that as well). The questions it answers includes:

Spoiler:
How did Jack and Chase meet?
What happens to Max?
What happened to Jack and Kate's relationship?
How did Kim start working at CTU?
How did Chloe get in the picture?

I hope that helps, Furious One.

And for some more news today, FOX wants to milk me for some more money. I really don't see a need for this (yet I'll buy it anyway), especially once the 24 Season 6 DVD set comes out (though that won't be until December 2007).

Spoiler:
I was watching House tonight, and I saw a new (?) preview for 24.

"America doesn't negotiate with terrorists.
Neither does Jack."

Then you see a scene of Jack grasping GRAHAM's neck. (at least it looked like Graham.) He chokes out "You're hurting me", and Jack replies "Trust me, I'm not."

Vivace119 Nov 29, 2006 08:20 AM

I haven't kept up to date with the news of season 6 of 24. I also haven't seen any trailers as I have ben quite busy with work.

Can anyone tell me if Alexander Siddig is going to be in the show? I initialy heard this as a rumour a while back and I was just wondering if it is true.

If so than I am quite excited because I have always enjoyed his performances in DS9 and recently in Syrianna.

Rockgamer Nov 29, 2006 12:03 PM

Yes, Siddig will be joining the cast this season.

Putting the rest in spoilers just in case this could be spoiler-related:
In the post where I first mentioned this (which just happens to be the first post in this thread), it said he will be one of the big baddies of the season, but so far IMDB only has him listed as being in the first episode.

The new year has come and started for some of us. For me, it begins in 4 hours. That's cute.

But more importantly, the sixth season of 24 starts in exactly 2 weeks. Time's got nothing on Jack Bauer.

Also just completed a Season Five marathon this weekend. I also threw out this ridiculous idea to my friends that, after this season, we watch every episode of 24 starting with the end of this season... backwards. A better suggestion was that after Season 7, we all take a week off work just to marathon through it all. I honestly can't wait for that week. =p

I've had this idea in my head since at least Season 4. I don't know though, an entire week of Jack Bauer might just be too much, and my head could explode or something. :p

But yeah, I'm pumped for Season 6 now. My Season 5 rewatch is almost complete, I got almost all the 24 merchandise out there, and the most important thing, I'm getting the weird looks from the rest of my family whenever they see me scream like a little schoolgirl everytime a 24 commercial comes on. I am ready.

Grundlefield Earth Jan 1, 2007 03:25 AM

WOOOOOO Comin like what folks.

Can't wait. I wont rewatch Season 5 boxset yet, because I watching Season 1 again and going through the boxes.

I believe the 10 am -11am Koffel Enterprise --Jack in the Limo episode was one of the best episodes ever. Had everything.

Also meeting victor Drazen for the first time was unbelievable.
Jack: "Your fight is with me. Not my wife, not my daughter, but with me. Please... leave my family alone. Mr. Drazen, you have already lost your wife and your daughter. You don't need to lose your sons too."
Victor: "My sons are soldiers"
...
Jack: "Call them off or your sons WILL DIE!

starslight Jan 1, 2007 01:02 PM

I'm rewatching season 1, too. I love when Jack beat Bryan Carroll's ass just by driving the limo around the parking garage. Dude should have put his seatelt on.

Grundlefield Earth Jan 1, 2007 01:25 PM

You mean Kevin Caroll

Hello ALAN!...WHERE'S MY WIFE. (stares at him, Kevin shoots Jacks face)

From Esquire magazine:

WHAT I'VE LEARNED: by Jack Bauer

Counterterrorism Expert, Los Angeles

By Nicole Ranadive and Matt Michnovetz
January 2007, Volume 147, Issue 1

-Fuck diplomacy.

-Actions speak louder than words. Though shouting can also be effective.

-If you shoot a man's wife in the knee and he still doesn't give you the information, he's bad.

-Revenge is the cruelest trick. I've seen it taken out on others, I've been victim to it, I've even done it myself. But it doesn't change anything, and it doesn't bring comfort.

-Trust is the key to survival. And by trust, I mean getting out of the way and letting me do what I need to do.

-The only thing harder than racing to stop a madman from releasing a deadly virus that will kill thousands of people is doing it while simultaneously trying to kick heroin.

-I've been beaten, kidnapped, gassed, and shot at, but the most terrifying thing I've ever been through was facing my daughter after I made her believe I was dead.

-I eat a lot of bananas. They're a good source of vitamin B and potassium. They're also easy to take on the move.

-Love is a privilege.

-If you have to trust someone, make it a quirky computer genius.

-If I say "dammit," either something bad just happened, something bad is about to happen, or I'm going to do something drastic.

-Any man can make a mistake. It's what he does to remedy that mistake that shows his character.

-You better know who you are before you go undercover. If you don't, you could easily lose yourself.

-Always carry at least one spare fully charged cell-phone battery.

-So many times when I thought there was no more time, there was.

-When interrogating a suspect, I've often found it effective to ask the question loudly and repeat it several times.

-Remember, terrorists use the phone as much as we do.

-In the event of a highway landing, always fasten your seat belt and return your chair and tray table to their upright and locked positions.

-It's all key cards and thumb drives these days.

-If the president of the United States ever orders you to shoot your boss in the head at point-blank range in cold blood, take a deep breath, ask God to forgive you, and just do it.

-Without conscience, a man becomes his worst enemy.

-Sometimes it's necessary to create a believable diversion, even at the risk of others thinking you're an asshole.

-A cell phone can sometimes be used to activate a secondary detonator on a terrorist's explosive vest regardless of how many minutes are left on your plan.

-Dead terrorists can often be effectively used as human shields. So can live ones.

-Bureaucrats want results but never want to get their hands dirty.

-The safety of the people I love is worth any sacrifice. Even their trust.

-Some people don't deserve to die, but that's not my call.

-Serbs have a different word for everything.

-If you don't have a Taser gun, the wires from a lamp will deliver the current needed to shock your subject just enough to get him to give up the information you need without doing any permanent damage.

-Sometimes you have to do the wrong thing for the right reasons.

-You can't save everyone.

-If you see me running down the street, it's probably a good idea to take cover.

-Don't piss off the Chinese.

Nicole Ranadive is the staff writer of 24. Matt Michnovetz is the show's story editor.

Good stuff.

Don't about you guys, but that was the most shocking scene for me from all the series, really wasn't expecting him to actually go through it.

They forgot one though: A paracute can be used to escape a nuclear explosion from an airborne plane.

Sorry to bust your bubbles, but Chuck Norris could take Bauer any day, any time, any where (even fuckin' space.)

:wrong:

Get out. First of all, too bad Chuck Norris is a fictional character. Second of all, you're wrong anyway.
