I think the larger part of this goal is making a system that costs less than a used car (and takes up less space [and breaks down less often])

So... a triple music update, introducing another thing to collect. CDs.

I don't think any music will top that Star Fox one, but we'll see.

Joe Wiewel Sep 7, 2007 02:33 AM

HOLY SHIT.

Best. Update. Ever. since it tells us that the amount of music in this game is going to be INSANE.

Note that there's a down arrow and an up arrow in this screenshot. That means that there's at least six tracks per stage! O_O

Also, unlocking the music track by track is a brilliant idea.

The main theme of Brawl we've heard before, but the arrangement of the Gym music from the original Game Boy Pokémon games is pretty good. Though it kind of sounds like an arrangement of the arrangement of the Gym music that's found in some the menus in Pokémon Stadium. The Evolution music at the end is also a pleasant surprise. :P

Easy there. Just because there's at least six on Delfino doesn't mean every stage will have that many. Of course, I'd like to believe so myself.

Anyhow, this feature is awesome. I've been wondering when a game would ever include something like this. And I'm going to collect all of the CDs I can find.

The_Griffin Sep 7, 2007 03:53 AM

Stages could share music, too.

But yeah, this is a NEAT update. Lovin' this right now, and liking the main theme too :3:

Sword Familiar Sep 7, 2007 04:57 AM

There's also the possibility of some stages sharing the same music...

EDIT: beaten

Para Sep 7, 2007 09:00 AM

The new theme is really blah for me. Though its taste, I don't really like much from Nobuo.

Clearly, the collection aspect is one Nintendo is looking to capitalize on, here.

I think the same :P

I hope we can still get the "classic" Smash theme , the one with many remixes in Melee(Final destination), and credits in 64.

Buizel Sep 7, 2007 02:46 PM

So it looks like they're keeping the theme from the trailer (they did said it might or might not be use as the main theme). >_>

The "Gym" music sound nice but why not the ACTUAL gym battle music? Unless that's just a teaser and we'll hear it after Samus evolves. :D

CDs! Gotta collect 'em all! :tpg:
Hopefully Nintendo will also do another live concert and release a soundtrack!
*/wishful thinking*

Metal Sphere Sep 7, 2007 03:06 PM

Maybe the stadium music plays and when the stage is about to take on one of its forms, the evolution part starts up. It'd definitely make sense, and it'd be a clever way of linking the music to the battlefield (beyond it already being pokemon themed).

Really?...

I don't see why, he even said some tracks will be ripped directly from the other games as they are and won't be arranged in the slightest.

Quote:

Just so you know, there may be songs from other games that are left as is, without any new arrangement.
I personally couldn't stand playing the game to one of the NSMB themes. There are many Nintendo songs that just don't lend themselves well to battles.

Identity Crisis Sep 7, 2007 04:42 PM

This is definitely quite the update! =o

I always enjoyed fighting to the Dr. Mario music in SSB:M, but multiplayer matches required all players to hold L and R in order to have the music played in the respective stages. It's kind of annoying to have an L and R check right before a match I want to have a certain song played in (especially with people and their itchy trigger fingers starting a match before everyone can hold L and R).

I'm also liking the variety of the music. Now I won't be restricted to one or two stages if I feel like fighting to a certain tune!

At least I'm hoping that I'm not restricted to a couple of stages, anyway.

chato Sep 7, 2007 05:19 PM

So...you gotta grab a shitload of cds and customize stage music to your liking only it's Nintendo's copy and paste themes from the first two. I do dig the menu designs. "veryveryniiiice =) "

This update would've been more interesting if they were to let you put your own music.

Para Sep 7, 2007 07:58 PM

Nintendo better have a music/sound test or some kind of control panel for you to listen to the tracks. This may be one of those most awesome soundtracks that no one should miss.

Huh? Did you even READ this update?

If you saw the screenshots, you'd know there was a play button... you see? Look again, stupid.

FUCK YEAH! Correctly translated track titles for A Link to the Past! And... FUCK YEAH! Music from A Link to the Past!

This is going to be one hell of a soundtrack. I just wish they used a better synthesizer, I don't like that one really much. The Super Smash Bros. Melee one sounded a lot better. Could also be to all the people involved in this, maybe everyone uses the sound system (they're not experienced with) to arrange the tracks they're assigned for.

Yes, because we'll imply that each stage will have EVERY song to choose from? I can't wait to be on Brinstar and have some Super Mario World music playing! He's referring to a game's complete collection on one menu, fucktard.

Oh yes, because one can't simply go into a particular stage's music screen and see them all already, as seen in this update? Thus necessitating the addition of a feature that would just do the exact, same, fucking, thing?

I reiterate; he can't read. And I'm getting sick of you stalking me, asshole.

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Sep 8, 2007 04:44 AM

I wish I was a stronger person, I'd certainly "start something" but it cannot be, so I leave you with this Haiku...

Well there goes all our retard entertainment. =)

For now. :(

Kanzaki Sep 8, 2007 05:26 PM

I liked the Pokemon Gym song, but I don't like it for a battle theme, I hope it is as BigCN401 said, changing after the evolution part.

Now how many stage will there be for one particular game series, if each stage uses a different set of song, there will be an awesome amount of tracks. I mean, if there are 2 Mario-based stages, and each one has 5 songs, we will have 10 just for Mario =D as long as there is no shared music between stage X(

Cheezeman3000 Sep 8, 2007 10:01 PM

I have a feeling he was saying that for all of the mario stages you can select the mario music, stuff like that. I think it implies the music IS shared between stages that are similar, unfortunately. Still, I'm gonna be working hard to get all those CD's as fast as possible :).

map car man words telling me to do things Sep 9, 2007 03:43 PM

So..

I obviously haven't followed this thread for a while, but I took a look around the dojo. Still no word on Ness being in the game or those Fire Emblem characters? Have they officially said they won't be in there or is that just rumors because they haven't said anything at all on the subject?
