I think Red Steel is quite the eye-catcher, but Rayman isn't too bad either, with it's awsome logo. Zelda's box art might catch some attention too, since it's probably going to be one of those shiney ones (I think).

Camera is go for tomorrow. I have no DS, Laptop, porn magazines, or whatever...so I gotta find something to do there for 4 hours. Someone should call me regularly for check-ins and I'll report live from the scene and you can upload it to the internets!
(Chances are I'll be alone for 3 hours and cold as hell and will cry) EDIT: So freaking close to my estimates. Here's what I've already paid (Note: Anything other than games is paid through copies of Red Steel. :D) http://gb2gt.com/wii.html |
Good luck everyone. As for me, I'm also going to be at my EB Games a couple of hours early. I hope that all of us will be able to reserve one. If I don't I'm literally going to break down in tears. :(
Let's hope for the best!!! |
Wait, what? I thought Nintendo was going to have approx. 7 trillion systems at launch? If that's still the case, how big is the worry of not getting one at launch?

Anyway, Wiis will be in plentiful supply, but demand for the Wii may be too much for retailers to handle all at once. It seems unlikely that the aforementioned shortage will happen, but why take the chance when there isn't much risk to reserving a Wii? |
That's in the launch period. At the launch date I'm not sure how many will be available. It may just be a million. It's not going to be hell like getting a PS3 but I just want to make sure I can get one the launch day.
I'm actually more worried about controller shortages like last time. |
Tomorrow they are supposed to begin pre-orders for the Wii at Babagges. Should I get two OR three games (Twlight Princess is a given) with the system preorder?
|
I want this to be Red Steel retail Box.
http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/1148/steelbh4.jpg Not that horrific "Kill Bill" one. Yeah, I know I'm alone in this. =( Go here for more hot sax. |
That looks quite awesome. Unfortunately I doubt we'll get that. Reminds me of all my lovely HK anime dvd packages. It really works well. I don't understand why noone else in the dvd industry gets it. Oh well.

You know what? Fuck it, I'd rather sleep. I had no problems getting my DS lite even a day or so after the launch date. I'm not going to sit outside Gamestop. Hell, worse comes to worse I can just bug Mo0 to set aside one at Toys R Us or something.
Good night, guys. |
Lamers. Off I go to the store to wait in the cold.
You guys are gonna feeu dumb if/when Reggie is there waiting to GIVE a Wii to a loyal customer who came to Pre-Order. |
Mission is a GO. Hope I can wiin. Hope there's no lag on the way. :p
|
Good luck fellas. I'm outta here in about a half hour myself. Gonna reserve Zelda, Excite Truck, a controller/nunchuck combo, and then ask about the classic controller and pick up one of those if I can.
|
Well, after 4 hours of waiting (6am-10am), I am now the proud holder of a Wii pre-order (8th place, my gamestop expecting 20-30 consoles).
Yay. Now I can rest. |
Yeah, my experience was bullshit. I called yesterday, and they said they'd have 12.
I get there an hour early, 5 people there. Store opens, and they're only selling 4. I called the guy out on giving the other 8 to the employees. I was right, BUT DON'T FUCKING TELL ME YOU'LL HAVE 12 AND ONLY GIVE 4. Morose mother fucker. So I committed murder today. Can't rest. Edit: story in my chocojournal. |

Well, at least you only had to wait an hour. |
Success!
There were only 13 units available at my store, and I was 6th in line. I got there an hour early, while the guys before me get there at 6:00 (lol). It was a cool time though, we just shot the shit for an hour, bashing Sony and having some awesome geek conversations. |
I was 3rd in line, got there at 6:30. They had 8. 14 people waited in line because they're retards.
WiiGet is complete! The line pretty early: http://gb2gt.com/images/random/eb_line.jpg After a plethora of Red Steels cancelled and moved to the console: http://gb2gt.com/images/random/eb_reciept.jpg |
I love that you guys have to stand in line for a Wii. It almost makes it worth living in Europe. I strolled into a GAME a couple of month ago and preordered it. Getting it on launch, however, that's yet to be seen.
|
You must have been at St. Louis Mills, Lukage. I've never been there, but since your photo looks exactly like the inside of Arundel Mills near me, that's my guess. My only question is, do they sell Homerun Bats at the Earthbound Trading Company?
As for preordering, I work a 9-5 job, and I'd feel silly taking off work to preorder a video game system. Taking off work to play it, sure, but taking off to stand in line to get my name on list, no. I'm hoping that since there are lots of potential purchase points around me, I'll find one close to launch. |
I just noticed that the guy screwed up my preorder and reserved me 2 ExciteTrucks and no classic controller... I need to head back to get that shit sqauared away now.
|
Wow. I called last night and had been told that the nearest Gamestop would have 30 preorders available, so I thought there was no need to go get in line hours early. Big mistake. I got there at 10 am, and there was a line of at least 30 people outside. Factoring in that at least a few employees were also probably taking up a handful of them, I turned around and headed home without even getting out of my car.
|
Glad I'm not the only one who failed at pre-order day. ;_;
I guess I also have a question about the classic controller, that may have been asked/answered in this thread... basically: why would I need/want one? Just for a more traditional feel? To play old games? Do some Wii games need it instead of the Wiimote? Eh? |

Actually, Nintendo hasn't specified whether the Cube controller can be used with VC games or not. So there is an outside chance that you could use those for n64/snes games, but there is no guarentee. |
