I agree. I don't think Mohinder needs any super powers at all, mainly because of his superior intellect. He's already great, character wise, as he is.

Having that said, I really don't think he has any super powers. It just wouldn't surprise me if he actually did. The same goes for Mr.Bennet, too.

Spoiler:

The last episode he was so badass, and even moreso because he didn't have a superpower. He completely & effortlessly outsmarted Sylar, and almost had him. He even pulled the trigger, which I LOVED. They didn't pull the standard Hollywood bullshit of "He's too much of a good guy to actually harm a human life, no matter how evil they are, la dee la dee la, pretty flowers and big green open meadows, unicorns and fairies, weeeee!!!!"

The latest episode of Heroes couldn't have gone any better :).

That said, I really hope Mohinder lives through the current ordeal. And I hope they continue to use the characters they have rather than starting anew. The current story arc potentially has so much more to it.

speculative Mar 27, 2007 10:26 PM

What about Mohinder ala Obi-wan Kenobi?

"If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine?"

He is the original thread that ties all the heroes together anyways; it makes sense that he should be the "ringleader" of sorts...

Are any of your keeping up with Heroes Comics or interactive experiences?

Comics:
Spoiler:
In this hiatus, there is a 6 part comic titled "War Buddies."

It starts out with HRG (Mr. Bennet) giving instructions to Hana (Wireless girl) to find a file at the Pentagon that will shut down "the company" that HRG works for. The file Hana gets, The Lone Star File, it details about a covert Vietnam War operation involving a crew, which one of them has an amazing ability.
Hana (and us) have yet to find out how that mission relates to shutting down HRG's company.
The comic is usually released on Tuesday and they're on part 3 of 6 now.

Hiro's Blog!!
Spoiler:
Have you guys checked out Hiro's blog?

About 3 or so week's ago, all of his previous blog entries were taken off and an unusual entry under the name of Jotaro Kujo surfaced.
Here is the entry
Spoiler:
Bound by Death and Luck

How would one find a flower? A ray of hope, a light that will illuminate nature's undisturbed process for looming survival. Mankind has a choice. A pathway, a destiny. Care to remind me of those simple times. Kids could be kids. Adults live caring for the world. Harmony lies in equality. I, an outcast, never belonged. Longed to bleach a dark world. Demons that live within the monolithic souls of cruelty. Yet, the hunter turns to the hunted. We hide in the shadows of factual inaccuracies. The light not to be seen. Branded with blindness. A matter of perception, such visions speak greater than words. Pleasantly resolved, convenient for humanity. When will I be free? When will we be free? Fates timed to precision. We follow a path. It crosses with each other. Realize the moment. Awaken. Unite. Ambivalence is not a solution. Blackness is resolved with truth. Love. Beyond walls of hatred, lies purity. Prisoners of silence. Lacking a leader, we have common goals at the core. Trust no one. Fight to avenge and open the eyes of the beast. Prejudice spawns like spores. Find me. Reach me. Email time@primatechpaper.com. My search continues for petals. The flower that drops no trace. A flower. Open your eyes so we can talk. Communication is conductor of truth. At the end there are ultimately many futures. At the beginning primarily, there is only one departure. History is delicate. It begins with one. Many butterflies cause too much chaos. One flap, precise catalyst. To see light again, a rift will be chanced. I grow weary of hiding on the 15. In simple times, we used a courier to tell truth. Analogous to death, invisibility to many familiar people. The irony. Once drowned within homogeneity, yearned to be special. Found air to drown myself bearing a mark. To a flower I speak. May I reach you to end this insanity. Preach the truth. Open the minds. There are no monsters. Only visions that are placed within minds.

This message is obviously from Future Hiro trying to contact Hana. (note that the word for "flower" in japanese is "hana")

For 2 weeks, fans were trying to 'crack' the message as they thought there is a hidden message in that cryptic post.
And indeed there is a secret message. It wasn't until last week that someone (from the 9th Wonders forum) found what it is.

It's a well crafted secret message, if you guys would like to take a shot at it, have fun! But if you can't crack it, click the next spoiler for the solution.
Spoiler:
It's quite simple, once you figured the solution. Are you sure you want to give up that easily?
Spoiler:
OK here is the solution(copy and pasted from 9th Wonders forum):

The puzzle was solved focusing on two clues.
The title: "Bound by Death and Luck"
The line: "To see light again, a rift will be chanced. I grow weary of hiding on the 15. In simple times, we used a courier to tell truth."

The method for finding the solution:

The hint "bound by death and luck" refers to superstitions about certain numbers in Japanese culture. Death is represented by 4. Luck is represented by 7. If the column is set to 47 characters, and the words are left to fall naturally (so none are cut off), then the letters will line up properly.

Alternately, the bound by death and luck may refer to 4 and 8, respectively. The solution is "bound" by this by being in a 4-inch column, the difference between 4 and 8. This method requires the font in its original size 10 to work.

The next hint is using "courier to tell the truth." This is a hint to use the courier font.

Finally, "hiding on the 15" represents the 15th letter of each line. When the 15th letter of each line is taken after lining up the text as above, the solution is revealed.

And for those who don't feel like going through the above process, here is the solution:

Code:

flower,contact me.kaiton@primatechpaper.com
click here for a visual of the solution

When the instructions in the solution are followed, you receive the following:

November 8, 2010

Hana,
I knew I could reach you this way. I was able to hack into the old
Yamagato server. Times may have changed but their security system is
still ancient.

It's ironic that my father's email is still active. I figured this
would be the securest way to communicate to you.

As you know we are in desperate times. I've finally found Molly
Walker. I will find others. I seek assistance from you and your
partner to provide a safe harbor.

I will not give up. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Safe journey and god speed.

For Charlie,
Hiro

====

So it was Hiro from the future. And if you guys don't remember, Molly Walker is the little girl that Matt Parkman found in the little closet under the stairs when we're first introduced to Matt. Her dad was the one who was frozen with the head cut off.

It seems that Molly is of great importance to Hiro for 'saving the world' as Claire was. Pretty interesting.

Extended trailer (with some more spoilers)
Spoiler:
If you guy's remember, there was a sneak preview of the upcoming Heroes shown after the previous episode, "Parasite."

Now there's an extended trailer with a little bit more footage, if you care to see it. (It's a little spoilerish but not a lot, so don't watch if you want to be totally surprised)
Video at NBC
Youtube link

Also, there are some leaked images from the upcoming new episode of Heroes. .. extreme spoiler! .. I wish I hadn't seen it now, but if you're the person who loves leaked images, go here. The pictures are very revealing of what happens to the characters in the next episode.

and sorry for all the annoying spoiler tags..

Is anyone else keeping up with the comics and such?

The 6 part comic revealed some background information on some characters we've seen already, with some shocking discoveries. Check it out.

Also on Hana's website,
as part of the Heroes interactive experience... Linderman is going to rig the election for Petrelli, and Hana wants to stop it with our help (with finding the codes.)

Some clips from episode 19 are somewhere on the net and you NBC viewers have probably already seen the new trailer for the upcoming episodes on TV (which also can be found at NBC site.)

Just read this week's comic. That was awesome! Wasn't the speculation of Austin's and Dallas' true identities even guessed correctly in this thread earlier? I'm in a bit of a hurry catching up on threads right now, otherwise I'd check :eagletear:

Spoiler:
I'm sill trying to piece together the whole line of events after this now. It doesn't seem like Nathan and Peter's father has any special abilities, so my first guess right now is that their DNA was experimented on when they were really young by Linderman's company. For some reason though, that just doesn't sit well with me as an explanation. Anyone else have any thoughts?

makura Apr 10, 2007 06:08 PM

abilities,
Spoiler:
It's possible that Mr. Petrelli's powers hasn't manifest yet (We still have one more comic to go.) Or it could mean that Angela Petrelli has powers (or both of them do.)

Micah's parents both have powers and so does Claire's parents. Does it take two to make another? If not, then why aren't Nathan's other kids (with Heidi) manifesting?

Maybe abilities manifest 'randomly' as opposed to an organization experimenting on people. For instance, would that same organization have gave Linderman and Au Co powers? They're so far apart..
So maybe for abilities to carry on, both parents need to have powers.

Peter
Spoiler:
I kinda already know what's going to happen to Peter (from spoiler pics and trailers.)
But for his SCAR... I don't think he'll have one.

I'm thinking in the alternate future that the other Hiro was from, Hiro never told Peter to meet Claire (and not gaining regen powers.)
In our timeline, Peter does have it and he will heal himself.

Also, I get this weird feeling that changing the past won't change future Hiro's future. Like in the case of Trunks from DBZ, which Hiro's character is heavily influenced by

So new heroes episode this monday... Any bets on what happens?

My bets are on Peter/Sylar/Mohinder all ending up alive.

Yeah it's about time. I tell ya, they keep pulling this crap and I'm going to lose interest in the show completely. I haven't even checked the weekly comic or Hana's site this week cause I've been getting busy with other stuff, but also because they decided to keep pulling the show off the air for weeks on end, so I haven't been thinking about it as much lately.

Anyways, I thought it was rumored that this next episode was going to be taking place in the future, and would raise even more questions.

This was a planned hiatus, so it wasn't as if they were like "ahh, let's put it off one more week". They purposely divided the season into two parts.

I realize that, the fact of them breaking it up between Dec. and Jan. wasn't so bad, it was the holidays anyways. But then it felt like the show barely got started and then they decided to put the show on hold again for May sweeps. That's what's annoying me. Maybe it's because I hardly watch much TV in the first place, but when shows aren't consistent, I tend to lose interest in them.

Jochie Apr 20, 2007 09:00 PM

Blame the stupid "sweeps" crap for the scheduling issues. Show producers hardly have any choice in the matter. They have to slow down, speed up, or completely stop at points in pretty much every season in order to prove their worthiness to General Motors, Kraft, and all those fuckers -- so all resentment caused by impatience should be directed at the advertising industry. It annoys me too, though, especially with shows I like.

But it's almost time to SAVE THE WORLD, finally. Yay, I'm parroting the slogan without feeling dirty.

makura Apr 21, 2007 11:05 PM

It's been a long wait, but don't lose interest yet!

If you guys haven't seen it, there was a new trailer released about over a week ago with scenes from the upcoming episodes of Heroes.

It's a teeny bit spoilery, as usual. If you need something to re-spark your interest in Heroes, here it is.

The song is "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback.

I think what the mini-marathon of this show that just aired reminded me of most was that this show has a lot of fucking commercials, and it is somewhat drawn out in ways that aren't entertaining on a second viewing. I THINK.

Can't wait for Monday night, though. OHHHHH, Heroes . . . :rabite:

Also, the most consistently entertaining aspect of those three episodes was Mr. Muggles.

Do you know what I noticed a while back?

The Pilot episode "Genesis" was 53 mins long (from my downloaded eps)
All of the following eps are around 42 mins.

So basically we have over 15 mins of commercial time. I hate it too.

I suspected as much when it kept feeling like the commercials would just keep on rolling. Sometimes I skip the TV broadcast and wait until the download becomes available to watch the episode that way since I hate how much the lengthy commercials break things up.

makura Apr 22, 2007 07:55 AM

For the last 3 or so eps, Canada aired it a day earlier than the US. So I had the luxury of downloading and watching it before NBC Broadcasted it.

I'm not sure if Canada is still airing the remaining eps on Sundays..

edit:
nevermind, Canada moved theirs back on Mondays.

Almost all hour long TV shows are around 30% commercials. This is hardly unique to heroes. Unless you're watching HBO, it's very unusual to have a show more than 42 minutes long for an hour timeslot.

Yeah, I thought we were actually down to 35 minutes or less at this point. Sometimes it seems like they have 3 minutes of commercials, then 2 minutes of show, then more commercials. I'm not sure when this happens but it seems like about 3/4 of the way through the show they hit you with extra commercials just before the episode finale...

I'm looking forward to having Heroes back, but how many episodes are left? I would rather have had the show done by now rather than stretch into the summer months...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0988307/ How To Stop An Exploding Man (Episode 23) appears to be the finale of Season 1 and it airs on May 21st. It'll be a 2-hour show so the actual length of the series is the normal 24 episodes.

Sword Familiar Apr 22, 2007 05:07 PM

Living outside the US, I'm never able to see the episodes live, but boy am I glad that I don't have to worry about commercials. :rabite:
