I bought God of War 2 when it came out. Played the first one and loved it, figured the second one would be as good if not better (from everything I read about it), and it was. This game was everything I was hoping it would be, good story, great graphics, great soundtrack and kickass boss fights.

I also got Devil May Cry 3 Speical Edition not too long ago. It was an impulse buy, I just wanted to play an action game and I kept hearing good things about this game. A friend of mine lent me the first game and liked it very much, so I decided to buy the 3rd one based on that.

While Gamingforce was down, I picked up Silent Hill 2 for the PS2. It's the Greatest Hits version, which has some extra stuff that the original didn't have. I'm enjoying it so far, it's definitely quite creepy. I'd like to pick up the other games in the series if I can ever come across them in stores.

The Plane Is A Tiger Apr 18, 2007 01:29 AM

I never got around to mentioning it, but last Thursday I picked up Cooking Mama: Cook Off and Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales. Cooking Mama's controls are a bit sketchy at times, but it's still pretty fun. The multi-player is definitely the best part, since you can both laugh when the stirring fails to work or the other person forgets to actually turn on the oven.

I haven't played too much of Chocobo's Tales yet, but it's been fun so far. Fun mini-games and cute chocobos was all I expected from it, and it's delivered on those fronts. The remixed music is pretty spiffy too, particularly the mountain theme from Chocobo Racing.

Izuna, Rhythm Tengoku, Megaman ZX, Phoenix Wright and Dodonpachi Daioujou.

Daioujou I've been meaning to get for a long while, but priced at $70-80 US wasn't appealing for a hard-as-fuck game such as this. Got it brand new for $55 though, so that's alright. The manual folds out into a poster and there's also a bonus superplay DVD included (which is really nice to watch). I especially like the box art on this game.

Phoenix Wright I originally had (japanese version) and sold, so I rightfully had to purchase another copy, this time american. Never bothered to finish my original copy's Chapter 5 so I'll get around to it sometime on this.

Megaman ZX is surprisingly good. The map is really, really, extremely shitty, and it's easy to get lost, but the gameplay's there and it works quite well. Huge improvement over the GBA Megaman/Rockman games.

Izuna's pretty easy to pick up and play quickly, but it's quite hard at times and getting into impossible situations is inevitable. Game's got some great potential but choice on dungeon crawlers is always so limited as it's a niche genre.

Rhythm Tengoku is like crack. It's basically a japanese version of Warioware, and it's probably the most entertaining GBA game of all time.

No. Hard Pass. Apr 18, 2007 05:23 AM

The game has NO potential. Eventually, Lix, you'll have to realise Izuna is just fucking terribly designed.

Infernal Monkey Apr 18, 2007 05:38 AM

I want Rhythm Tengoku. :( Nintendo won't localize it though oh no, wouldn't be seen dead supporting their 'third pillar' anymore! "You guys want Mother 3 too, well el oh el have a Starfox Command instead! AH HAW HAW HAW"

:Megaton:

Big W (protip: Walmart) were having a clearance sale, I picked AC0 out of the stinky bargain bin to scan it expecting a ten cent price reduction but nope. It came up at $14. $14. IT'S USUALLY $90. Puzzle Bobble VS was $2.75, worth it just for the fact that they kept the Puzzle Bobble name instead of Bust-a-Move. (No not really).

Marble Madness/Klax and Paperboy/Rampage GBA cart'zzz~, ultra cheap too. For a good reason though, THREE LEVELS. Paperboy also has stupid cool glitches that let you ride right off the side of the screen.

Three AWESOME Master System games. KLAX. KLAX HAS MUSIC. Unheard of. Also Dynamite Dux, I've always wanted an actual copy of that instead of playing it via emulator all the time. Not the saaame. And finally, I decided to go on a quest for PSP games by Taito recently. Because I'm a Taito fanboy, what a shock! And I've had extremely good luck, found Exit, Bubble Bobble and Space Invaders in the one place second hand, real cheap. But the cases are badly scratched up. ;_; And Rainbow Islands was another victim of the Big W sale, so haaay. All up I paid as much as I would just for Bubble Bobble brand new at EB.

All that's left is Taito Legends Power-Up, Bust-a-Move Ghost and Exit 2. Not including Japanese exclusive games, because that's too much of a pain in the arse. I don't even have a PSP. But one day! Sony are stupid, it's still $400 ($330 US). =\ DROP THE PRICE ALREADY HOLY CRAP.

And that's me done with bargain hunting for a while~

James Pond? Holy shit, WIN.

Requesting pictures of your Famicom collection, please.

Until about three days from now when a bunch of good stuff for DS comes out, the only game purchase I have finally made is Lumines II. I'm glad they didn't mess around with the original formula and decided to just offer more trippy psychadelic skins and more objectives to clear than you could bat an eyelash at. I actually don't even mind the mainstream videos and songs too much, most of them worked in very well somehow. It is also very refreshing to be able to obtain Water, Flowers, and Lights with ease this time around.

Wow, that's a really nice cover. Sure as hell beats the Euro original (which I can't even seem to find on the net but it was really ugly compared to the Mega Drive one)

Picked up the entire Kings Quest Collection for like 20 bucks. That's gonna be a fun project. I only played VII way back in the day. I'm curious to see the first 6.

Also bought Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I've never played a Splinter Cell game, so why not start now?

Just the day before yesterday i picked up Final Fantasy XII and Hotel Dusk: Room 215. I was beginning to lose hope on that last one, and can't wait to whip it out. I might get a start on it tonight, depending on how tired i am (10 hour work day started at 5:00 AM this morning, with work again tomorrow around 10:00)

I have quite a list to catch up on titles to buy and play, so i guess it's a good thing i'm increasing my hours.

The_Griffin Apr 22, 2007 03:47 AM

Oooh, the Kings Quest games are fucking *gold.*

I only started with King's Quest 4, but I can say that everything up from that game are all terrific. Seriously, how can you one-up defeating a yeti by throwing a pie in its face? Just avoid 8 if you can... it's nothing more than an average 3rd person adventure game, which is rather sad considering its heritage.

As for me, I've recently borrowed Resident Evil 4 from my brother-in-law, and beat it a while ago. I'm debating on replaying it and unlocking everything, but it's not really my style... I much prefer playing for plot, and to experience something new.

Outside of that, not much. =\

Indeed, the King's Quest games are undeniable classics (if you can look past the design flaws and dead ends).

As for RE4, it's definitely worth unlocking and saving up for the Chicago Typewriter. Blasting away at all the bad guys with infinite ammo is (no pun intended) infinitely satisfying.

map car man words telling me to do things Apr 22, 2007 05:29 AM

Chicago Typewriter was fun for the first ten minutes and then you realize it removes most of the excitement from the game. You just arrived to an area, spray for a few minutes, move on.

Now the Hand Cannon, that was a massive hassle to get, but very much worth it once it's fully upgraded. A wonderful piece of kit, it is.

That's possibly the weirdest, most amazing collection I've seen! I mean, ROBOCOD. I never thought anyone would want to collect that. You legend. =D

Chaotic Apr 23, 2007 07:35 PM

I could imagine how much that would ring up on eBay.

Amazing, but odd collection.

Anyway, Pokemon Diamond get! I have yet to start it up, since i've been busy. Missed picking it up on release day since I was in South Carolina at the time. Finally had the time to get it today. Looks impressive.

O god i know. I've only actually played VII before. My friends got it once a looooooong time ago, and we've always loved playing puzzle games like that, Myst, Riven, King's Quest, Syberia, you name it.

Interestingly enough, the collection doesn't include 8. It stops at seven. To tell the truth, i didn't even know there was an eight until your post there.

I'm the same way, a plot and character development person, but RE4 seems to have unlimited replayability. I've played through it five times now, and i'm planning on playing it again on my survival horror pilgrimage.

Aside from my response to Griffin, on friday, i will be finally purchasing Final Fantasy Origins, and Final Fantasy III DS. After that i will own all the main series games (minus XI) except for VII. I'm hoping i can find a copy of VII somewhere soon.

The Plane Is A Tiger Apr 24, 2007 06:19 PM

I broke down and bought Pokemon Pearl today at Circuit City. It was only $28 this week and I haven't played a Pokemon game since Gold, so why not? I'm only up to Jubilife City, but it's pretty fun so far. Normal movement is painfully slow so it would be very nice if you ran without holding down the B button all the time, but oh well.

Bwahaha, that is the greatest thing I've ever seen. Ever. No collection can touch that.

Sunday marked three years of dating for my girlfriend and I, so among other things, she picked up Lumines Plus for the PS2 for me. I haven't given it a shot yet, but I love addictive puzzle games.

I'm fairly certain that 8 was released by a different developer. Please post a write-up when you've spent some time with the collection if you would be so kind. :)

O_O

This puts my Gitaroo Man/ICO/SotC collections to shame. Total shame. Perhaps even my japanese PS- well, maybe not that. I don't have anything as unique and different to match such an.. odd collection. It makes me wonder if someone owns all versions of Lemmings and the rest. Stefan, are you a collector of certain games you enjoy? I'd like to see more of your collection if possible.

28Link May 7, 2007 10:23 PM

Just got Wii Play and Super Paper Mario. Wii Play mostly for the extra controller, although some of the games are actually fun, but not really for long stretches. Mario I got for something to tide me over until the next big game, although it's really not holding my attention too well, and I seem to be going back to my library of GCN games right now...

Helloween May 7, 2007 10:38 PM

Man, EE had a huge price drop on their used games, and i just got a raise at work. I went a bit crazy the other day. Lets see if i can remember all of them. I'm living at my friend's house for the next while, so the majority of my collection is at home.

Veiwtiful Joe
Veiwtiful Joe 2
Devil May Cry 2
Myst IV
(one that i can't remember at the moment)
Killzone
Syphon Filter: Omega Strain

Also, a friend of mine is moving out of his parent's house, and he's trying to sell off old stuff he doesn't use anymore. I'm considering buying his Xbox, and his games, but i'll have to see what price he's asking for first. Looks like i'll be going crazier whenever i step into an EE.

I'm curious to try P.N. 03, but i can't find it anywhere. Can anyone tell me if it's any good?

nazpyro May 8, 2007 01:08 PM

I actually hadn't bought a new game for well over a month until this past weekend, which is strange considering how almighty I am. Anyway, I got Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales I've been interested in it, and chocobos are :3. I haven't played it yet though. I also wanted to get Puzzle Quest which was supposed to be in stock, but I didn't see it.

I got my first Wii Points card ever finally. And I got my first VC game too, the classic Galaga. <3 What fun. I sucked it up the first time I played, bot on my second go, I got to level 38. Good stuff. ^^

Finally, I pre-ordered Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2. I love the first one and Elite Beat Agents was fun. I've always enjoyed the gameplay, so I can't wait for more songs.
