When did it become a rule that characters you have to unlock are the ones that AREN'T featured on the cover art? Based on that logic, you have to unlock Ike, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Yoshi, and Snake because they're not on this cover, which I've found a higher-res image of...

All three of which look and feel almost exactly like their Gamecube counterparts. They may as well just be ports. (Yes, I've played and beaten Super Paper Mario, it's really not that exciting. It's just Paper Mario with its own dull take on an action RPG.)

Also, new stage and a moveset are up. Mario's moves have been altered?!? Whaddafuxup?!?

Well yeah, except that doesn't make any sense at all.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Sep 6, 2007 02:37 AM

I'm happy about Mario's special move changes because that almost assuredly means Luigi'll be packin' Poltergust 3000. Fuck yeah.

Metal Sphere Sep 6, 2007 02:38 AM

Anyone notice the glaring omission of the description for the Electric type transformation for Pokemon Stadium 2? The ground one sounds kind of boring, unless there's something else to it beyond there being a mound of dirt in the way. The other two are crazy, especially the flying state.

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Sep 6, 2007 03:39 AM

I think you missed my point here, I'm not really sure how to explain something so simple.

First, that wasn't high-res.

Second, yeah, all of those characters listed have to be unlocked, just like in the last game, which according to you, isn't "exactly like [its] Gamecube counterpart," somehow. In fact, you can still use the Gamecube controller for this game.

Oh come on, how can you NOT consider Mario Strikers Charged just a port with some new features? That's exactly how it felt to me.

I just said the image was higher-res than the one I posted in the last page.

I have to unlock Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Zelda and Bowser? Fuck that dick. Also, this game's a far cry from the ports that have been overstocking the Wii's library, it's running on a completely different engine, is slower-paced, has almost completely different mechanics and better graphics. What makes you say that?

Just because it's a port with some additions doesn't make it any less of a real game.

Because it was a soccer game that was a sequel to a soccer game.

Wasn't much of a sequel to me. Much more like... a port?

FatsDomino Sep 6, 2007 07:52 AM

While that may be my point still stands.

Torte Sep 6, 2007 07:55 AM

Professor Guy Sebastien? What inspired you there, Monkey?

Oh for fucks sake. I guess you consider Madden 2007 a port of Madden 2001 then, because it has Madden in the title and it's a football game. Give it a rest and go back to discussing the latest GameFAQs rumour on Sonic being confirmed for Smash Bros. or something. :psyduck:

He must check every ticket, failure to hand him your ticket will result in singing!

The F.L.U.D.D. is back.
"It does absolutely no damage—it’s just for sending opponents great distances. You can even charge it up while shielding. It’s best used in critical moments."

I can understand that they need to add something new to Mario in each new Smash Bros. game, like they gave him the cape to reflect projectiles in Melee, but they could've used something better. Still, now Mario has a projectile weapon other than his fireball.

Chaotic Sep 6, 2007 10:32 AM

I'm dissatisfied with his new move also... Now his Tornado Spin is his Down+A attack? What about his phat breakdancing move?

Dopefish Sep 6, 2007 10:33 AM

FLUDD is nice for strategy's sake, but that's about it.

Chaotic Sep 6, 2007 11:00 AM

It would probably be wise to only use that when someone else has whorred a lot of damage on another opponent... But I figured that most people figured that out anyway.

Oh please. If you want to use a better example, why don't you look at the Fifa games? They prove my point exactly.

Call of Duty 3 and Need for Speed Underground 2 on the Wii are real games, then. Real console sellers that make excellent use of the Wii's controls.

...No, they were just shitty ports. I consider them just worthless filler until the real games come out, by which I mean stuff exclusive to the Wii that's actually interesting and original, having a point and being uniquely interesting instead of just being a rehash/port of the same game or being a collection of stupid non-games where you grate cheese/fold laundry/roll a ball into a hole. Ugh.

The_Griffin Sep 6, 2007 04:31 PM

Riiiiight. EA and Activision multiplatform games are equal to the first damn shooter to have good controls on the Wii.

PsychoJosh Sep 6, 2007 04:51 PM

You know what, fuck it, I don't know how to describe what I'm thinking and I've derailed the thread too much.

I'm so sorry. :(

Wall Feces Sep 6, 2007 04:59 PM

Hey, Josh, shut up would you? Please?

I like the FLUDD being in the game. I'd be interested to see just how far it can launch people. It sets up an interesting way to keep people from Up+B'ing their way back into the stage.

See, what you were supposed to do even though sprouticus had some bad timing was not talk unless you had something worth talking about. Stop letting us down, Josh. :(

How many real games have ever actually been made, then? =\/

Elmoogle Sep 6, 2007 07:34 PM

Duck Hunt was just a port of those shooting gallery games at the carnival.
