if you read correct, I never said that FFXIII will be the best FF either. I just really like the video they showed but that's all we know...

Rei no Otaku May 28, 2006 06:42 PM

I wasn't even talking about you lol. I've never read any of your posts on the matter. I was just saying that an awful lot of people are already obsessed with the game, and we know nothing about it almost. So if you're going to attack him for passing judgement, I think those people should get the same treatment.

I have no idea what your position on the game is, and honestly don't really care. I didn't mean any offense.

Inhert May 28, 2006 06:50 PM

oh sorry I misunderstood you...

I said it looks like a devil may cry game. I'm hoping it's not that. I hope its better than FFXII. I want it to be good, but yes, at first sight, the game isn't what I hope it would be. I dont hate the game, I dont love it. All I know is that FFXII is a great game that I've enjoyed. And I wouldn't enjoy XIII if it played like devil may cry or a 3d castlevania game. I'm sure it won't be, and I bet it will be a good game.

Yes FFXII in my opinion SO FAR, yes with only ONE video of XIII, is better than XIII. FFXIII has much more potential, as it is a next gen game that may look amazing visually, but I'm critical of what the battle system appeared to be.

Well, I was just commenting on what Saga said. Because when things like these come. For me at least, you can't help but laugh. Because when people buy the game and the 2nd they do when they've just moved an inch in the game yet they come here to rant. I just find it really funny, that it's really ridiculous.

Rydia May 29, 2006 01:38 AM

Compared to other voice acting in Square games, I can't complain much about the English dub so far. The trailer featured actors that I felt sounded more natural. I admit that Ashe did seem a bit too dramatic during some parts of the trailer, but that's a trivial complaint.

B4-Hunter May 29, 2006 03:09 AM

About the english voices... everything is cool but... WHO CHOSED VOICE FOR FRAN!!?? Ehh if you compare those two voices you will see why am I so shocked... =( (84h+ and still going =))

If I heard that coming from you, I'd laugh my *** off (seriously).

she sounded more russian than peruvian let me tell you :lolsign:

the other thing is I like the other voices and I think they are just fine but THAT ACCENT for Ashe is hilarious! and Frans voice is like watching a character taken straight out from the teletubbies loool

Spatula May 29, 2006 08:38 AM

I need to listen to more of Fran's voice. I wanted a seducing voice for such a vixen like character. Walking around pratically in a medival style playboy bunny suit - she isn't a warrior, comfort bunny, anyone?

Man, ya know, living life as an ugly ass seeq is hard, so when I come back from work, selling vegetables in the market everyday in Ivalice, I need a bunny woman. FRAN! get me a tonic beer. It's in that thing they call a fridge on planet Earth, which is in a totally different dimension, yeah.

When I played the japanese version, I liked Fran's voice a whole lot because she gave us this semi-commanding and powering voice, but in the English trailer she sounds like an old hag.

Aside that though, the English voices are superb, they come off as a little odd at first, but in the end I'd like the English ones much over the Japanese voices (actually understanding them, too).

Spatula May 29, 2006 10:20 AM

Yeah an Old Hag. Fran looks like the serious business "no bullshit" type - she doesn't seem to like to smile. Having a condescending voice would suit her, as we already have a "naive-lets-rock-like-Yuffie-wannabe" Penelo. I'm not saying they look the same, but they seem to have similar attitudes, Rikku included.

In other related news, the FFXII OST comes out in 2 days. :)

Saga May 29, 2006 11:49 AM

I forgot to mention that the old mans voice sounds alot like gandalf the great! how cool is that! lol I like it actually.

Spatula May 29, 2006 12:12 PM

Well honestly what else would they make him sound like, Barney? Actually that'd be pretty funny:

::Our city is UNDER ATTACK!::

::My father and mother, where are they?

:: (old man) Duh, let's sing some songs! the more we get together the happier we'll be.

Yeah, so in brief, having that old man (I'm assuming you're talking about this guy: Emperor Gramis) sound like Gandalf makes sense. At least SE could put that much effort in the NA release.

FFXII Party

This may or may not be spoiler material, but it involves a screenshot with a questionable number of characters on screen, as well as a boss fight:

Spoiler:

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i6.../FFXIIBoss.jpg

This clip was taken from here. You can see there's four status bars. What's/who's the fourth one belong to?

Would you say this is just an NPC? Perhaps I should PM one of the guys in the spoilers thread to check this out, because I don't want to venture in there, yet.

The following is not exactly spoilery, but hiding it away just in case...

Spoiler:
The characters are, in order, Vaan, Balthier, Fran, and Basch. I'd chalk up the presence of four people to an event battle, but I'm hardly a treasure trove of FFXII information.

However:

Spoiler:
I thought that the battle system only normally let 3 people per party? Perhaps this fight is a special exception.

CuteChocobo May 30, 2006 12:36 AM

This is the ingame spoiler of the battle system with the 4th person :):
There are a few scenerios where another additional party member can join you! The first entounter is the underground sewer escape (Not including the tutorial at the start). The 4th or more AI characters cannot be controlled and they act according to their own AI-gambit. Usually the AI is crap, coz they tend to do kamikazes!

In the case of the above screen cap Basche is the AI character, but you have to keep him alive!

EDIT: LOL I failed at writing spoiler tag >_<

Spatula May 30, 2006 12:40 AM

You just destroyed my FFXII gaming experience and ruined everything, I will never forgive you.

Spoiler:
Aeries dies

But yes, that's what I thought. I remember seeing when you first start off controlling a character in FFXII that "you know who" in the castle and you fight one guard, and then right after that is the first bossm pretty easy, from the way I've seen various youtube movies show.

CuteChocobo May 30, 2006 01:06 AM

The first tutorial boss IS easy considering you have a level 20 AI and 6 AI-guards fighting along side with you. It becomes slightly harder when you handle solo near the end of that tutorial.

Spatula May 30, 2006 01:16 AM

Yeah that's what I thought, like you've got an army of those AI drones, so I just sit back and pick my nose, or something.

At this moment, I'm looking for a few of the following, if they may or may not be released yet:

1) FFXII Art book

2) FFXII OST

3) FFXII Special Edition (of any type really). Of course I'll wait to see if North America gets some sort of special edtion, but I doubt it. If they do release a special edition of the walkthrough (kinda like how they did for X-2, then I'm picking that up for sure).

Zeta26 May 30, 2006 01:26 AM

Well, the FFXII OST is releasing this Wednesday. So you guys won't have to wait that long :). As for the game itself. It's still a clear 5 mor months left.

Spatula May 30, 2006 01:27 AM

5 more months, dear Jesus. As for the OST, I'm doing some hunting around to see where I should online shop from. I've got my eye on PlayAsia and Yesasia so far.

Zeta26 May 30, 2006 01:30 AM

Well, both Play Asia and CDJapan are both great retailers for ordering the FFXII OST. Though, for me. I can't as my mom wouldn't let me. If it was available gamestores. Sure, I'd buy it though.

Spatula May 30, 2006 01:36 AM

Yesasia has free shipping for orders over $39 USD, and this is selling for $38.50! GRRR!! For once, I wish they made it a bit more expensive. I got the Solid Snake figure from Yesasia, so I trust them that much.

Also, I'm busy LOL'ing reading NeoGAF:
